Rules question: p. 206 of SWPF Core Rules says, "If two sources would increase a Trait, use only the highest modifier (effects don’t stack). Increases to a Trait from a magic item’s effects don’t count for determining Trait Advancements. They do affect secondary statistics like Parry or Toughness, however."

Jzero has a +1 to toughness from a monk ability and also +1 to toughness from the Brawler Edge. Does these stack?

Those should stack.

Nicely done. I can't seem to find anything about "L"obarians. I did find stuff on "I"obarians, and they seem to come from Mendev.

Typo or am I missing something?

That's it. I was viewing wikis and it was hard to tell if that was an 'L' or an 'I'. :)

Should have version 1.0 of the character done later toy or tomorrow.

Dark Archive

OK. Got started on Valrek, a human fighter originally from Mendev. Had a crappy week and have had family over this weekend so... :)

Interlude:
Your Interlude - Five of Diamonds. Riff on one or more of the following.

~Downtime. You are studying or working on an object of some sort. What is it? Why is this important?
A journal. Velrek is not the smartest man alive but feels writing down the worst of what has happened to him or his family helps keep the bad dreams away. He’ll take pains to keep this journal away form anyone else…

~Backstory. Tell us about something your hero wants or already has. It might be a material possession, recognition, a political goal, or even a trip they wish to take to some amazing destination.
Freedom. Being a Lobarian from Mendev is dangerous. The current crusaders seem more interested in rooting out cultists from the actual natives, real or imagined or created, than fighting the devils.

~Trek. Tell of how you found something that helped you along the way, such as an oasis, minor treasure, food or water, friendly locals, etc.
Velrek was being tracked by a group of crusaders while leaving Mendev. This group was notorious for putting anyone who looked Lobarian to the pyre. He was at a point where he was trapped in a forest and prepared to go down fighting when a quiet voice said ‘come with me.’ He turned and a druid was beckoning him deeper into the woods. That druid, who never gave his name, fed him and after a few days led him to the border where he was finally free to make his own future without fear of the crusaders whose zealotry had gone too far.

Looks like we're heavy on magic and a little light on the martial side of things. Maybe I'll rethink and come up with something with a little more muscle. I can always play Cajuna at a future time.

I'm planning on taking something fighter-like if that helps your decision on this. I say play what you want. :)

Hello! Just saw the new thread. Been a way too busy week..

May not have much posting time this weekend but to start:
5 of diamonds.

Dark Archive

I backed the SW for PF kickstarters and would love a chance to play it! I read through the first (pdf) book when it came out but haven't done much else with it. :)
I don't think i've even opened my Advaced player's guide pdf's yet..

Dark Archive

I'm sorry to hear that. You take care of you.

I'm starting to think the name I grabbed at random, somehow completely forgetting the character in the show, might have to be changed. :)

Saffron Puckett

Saffron? Is this supposed to be the character from the show or merely inspired by her?

BTW, my muse is a little burned out, so I won't be joining. Have funn smuggling the castle!

Heh. I actually forgot about that. Just grabbed a 'firefly' sounding name. :)

Saffron Puckett

Originally from Hera in the Georgia system in the border area, Saffron grew up a theater brat. She spent time acting and on the local school shooting team. She grew into an attractive woman who wanted little to do with the farming based lifestyle of most of her community. She was noticed during a performance by a Companion hired to be eye candy for the arm of a local politician who was there only to be seen. After a few discussions Saffron packed her bags and left for training. A few years later, more mature and a little hardened (inside at least) she began her career.

Saffron is a petite woman of 5’5”. She has short black hair, pale skin and dark green eyes. When working she usually wears a red wig. Through shenanigans, luck (good or bad, still to be seen) she ended up on a ship full of interesting people…

I should have time to get my courtesan posted up this afternoon..

Dark Archive

Hey Adam: If you want the face, I can do a more brawly type. I'm good either way.

Dark Archive

Standard creation, novice characters, correct? Starting on it tonight, just want to make sure. :)

Dark Archive

I'll take the persuasion slot. Will start on a character wither today or tomorrow!

Dark Archive

Firefly AND Savage Worlds? Oh yeah, I'm VERY interested!

Interest check: are there Starfinder agents (and the players controlling them) interested in playing in any of the following?

1-38 The Many Minds of Historia (Tier 5-8)
3-15 The Preluria Connection (Tier 1-4)
4-11 A World's Ambition (Tier 7-10)
5-04 Fragment of the 4th (Tier 9-12)

Me! I know I haven't played 4-11 and 5-04. Unsure about the other two, would have to check my spreadsheet at home...

Dark Archive

Have been working on the character. Looking like we have a group so i'll put a hurry on that. :)
Should be able to post it in a few days.

Dark Archive

My initial idea about this elf fitting in: He (Or she, not sure yet) is part of an ambassadorial group that recently moved into the capital city, or any large city near where the GM might want to start. This young, in their term, elf is given permission to go out into the lands and see what these humans and others are actually like.
I'll have more, but that's the basics. :)

Dark Archive

I found mine. Went to our first concert in three years and either got some bad McD's on the way home or a little bit of a stomach bug there... Just starting to look through the books again.
Thinking about the character I always wanted to make for Eberron. An Elven Cleric of the Undying Court...

Dark Archive

Still very interested. Have not been able to find the copy of the old Eberron book I thought I had. Will be busy this week but if the game is going to start, will buy the PDF's early next week and make a character.

Dark Archive

Ooh. Always loved Eberron... Will check to see which books I have in the library when I get home tonight.

Sounds fun!

Unfortunately RPG Chonicles seems to be having an issue now. Will try later..

The WM Phoenix Open happened this weekend. Definitely a time to be rowdy and a golfer. The status of the 16th hole sounds hedonistic and enthusiastic.

It would be @ 10 to 11 hour roadtrip from Utah... longer with a detour in Las Vegas.

Can see roleplay opportunities.

I did google Cthulhu Golf. I was amused by Billy and Mandy.

Heh that's an amusing show overall. My daughter was the right age to want to watch it and like many cartoons, it has a definite different meaning for the adults. :)

Enemies attack while putting on hole 7.

Dark Archive

Have taken just a quick look. Been quite a long time since I've played.. Will see what others are thinking, but my first thought is to go Dedicated, maybe an EMT... Always nice to have someone with a good Treat Injury skill. ;)

Dark Archive

Sounds like there is some good interest. Will have to dig my D20 modern book out tonight. :)

We can take one more, but that will be it, for now.

Welcome to the game JM681.

The group have just reached the rebel HQ and discovered Arael (rebel leader) has been captured by the Dottari (city watch). You can bring yourselves in as rebels already working with the Children of Westcrown and start posting in the Gameplay thread whenever you are ready.

Thanks! I'll get a character done ASAP. Was thinking something fighter-ish or Rogue-ish or a mix of the two. I actually did the Pathfinder Savage Worlds kickstarter and have the early PDF. I remember giving it a quick look and that was it. Will take a look at hat again.

Dark Archive

Do you have your 6th or is there room for one more? Just saw this thread. Savage Worlds is an awesome rules set.

Dark Archive

I'm one of the few and proud who enjoyed D20 Modern back in the day. I'd be interested!

Dark Archive

I'll finish my skitter and get enough info up to start tomorrow. :) Definitely going Vanguard.

Dark Archive

Sounds good to me. I have the start of a Skitter Vanguard. Will flesh him out over the next few days, see if I like the concept. :)

Dark Archive

I'm up for another 'experimental' game. :) Old Bonkers is busy but I plan to either finally make my skittermander or maybe the new race I just got access to... Hmmm. six armed helkful bugger or chaotic winged fey...

Dark Archive

Boting Twich
Twich moves away from the rumbling area and targets the remaining 'small one' with a bolt of icy energy.

energy ray: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 25
C damage: 1d3 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7

Dark Archive

Above was surprise round

If he's still up, Amaresh says "Take him down fast!
Get em'

Then tries to pop the guard with another shot.
laser pistol: 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 6 + 1 = 13
damage: 2d4 + 3 ⇒ (4, 4) + 3 = 11

Dark Archive

Looks like I have Aramesh. Will see about making an online entry for him later. For now:

As the rest make boasts, brag and such Aramesh just lets a low droning buzzing sound emanate.

After the guard is seen and the rest attack.... He pulls his pistol and fires a shot..
laser pistol: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
F damage: 2d4 + 3 ⇒ (1, 4) + 3 = 8

Dark Archive

Well... Hello all. I posted up on this and didn't get any updates and forgot about it! My apologies. Guess i'll go find the characters and see what hasn't been picked!

Dark Archive

Always interested in a DG run, especially for a mysterious new adventure!

ACP and Fame changes

Any further questions on this should probably go to discussion.

Well. Thank you, sir. I noticed there has been no fame listed for the last several adventures but I completely missed this announcement. I haven't spent much fame on any of my characters. Guess I should look into this.

Dark Archive

There's a deadline for spending fame? I guess I should look that up....

Dark Archive

My bad, didn't see that Waverly had already botted T3dy...

Dark Archive

OK, am feeling lucky tonight! Botting T3dy
T3DY shrugs, also moves to get a clear shot and glares at the skeleton angrily.
laser rifle: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
F damage: 1d8 ⇒ 2

He looks bemusedly at his rifle. As illogical as it seems, that seems to have improved our marksmanship."

Dark Archive

Botting T3dy again:

T3Dy stays where he is and takes a shot at the skeleton beside Mega...
laser rifle: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
F damage: 1d8 ⇒ 8

He sighs in frustration. Cursing some higher power named DiceBot.

T3dy takes a step back, shooting Skeleton 2.
Guarded step

laser rifle: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
F damage: 1d8 ⇒ 6

I can't move his icon so...

Dark Archive

I was kidding about downloading Ispeh to the computer. :)
Anyone have the skitter crew thing on thier haracter's chronicle sheet? :)

Dark Archive

Awesome idea. Now, to not end up with a party full of Bards and Skalds. :)

Dark Archive

Heh. Hey, there are posts here now! I'll get the character up ASAP.

As far as starship options he has computers and engineering +10 and piloting +14.

Dark Archive

So... soldier, vanguard and envoy and a random musician(?)... I'll grab Iseph the operative for some skills to round it out...
