Dark Archive

Mm been thinking on some of these, love the system, want to flush it out a bit. So this thread will hopefully be about that.

Natural Resources.
The Mine:
Type: Bonus.
Copper: 1
Iron/Silver: 2 (Iron might give a bonus to smiths, weapon armor makers etc).
Gold: 3
Platinum & Gems: 4.

Lumber: On top of the listed bonus perhaps if a camp is built lets give 1 free build point per month.

Hex containing shore line, lake, or water, if "farm" is built on it provides either the full 2, or an additional +1 for consumption cost.

Finally building a water supply, in plains, from a river (Built like a raod for same cost. Or any farm that contains a river will reduce consumption by 3, not 2.

Adding to the farming, and consumption cost.

Land should provide different bonuses besides 2 or none. So this is an index to provide different consumption cost reductions.

Plains:2
Fertile Plains: 3 (includes river, water supply, or just exceptionally fertile area, as determined by DM.)
Hills:2.
Broken Lands:1 (rough hills)
Mountains: 0
Forest: 1 or 2. Hunting is always important in fantasy economies. Therfore build it up with hunting lodges (read farm) and you gain 2, but no resource.
Marsh: if you build a road, and farm on the square (and add a watchtower for defence) should be able to increase Cosumption reduction by 1, never 2.

Cities. No account for fishing.
Pier should provide a reduction of 1 for consumption, a dock should provide 2. As you are now using fishing as well, this would be HUGE in the fantasy city.

Borrowing Money.
Everyone knew eventually it would come to this, when consumption rises to high, or perhaps a project that has to be finished, money needs to be borrowed. So who can you get money from, and of course how much.

First since BP are an abstract system, and only roughly half is actually gold, to effectively gather 1 full build point you must actually borrow 2. So if you need to have 10 BP in your treasury then you will owe 20 BP to the lenders.

Who can you borrow money from? Your kingdom is the one to borrow BP from, nobles, merchants, these are the people who will lend money to you. You may borrow one BP per 2000gp value that your city/kingdom has. Farm lands are considered to be run by nobles and are worth about 1000gp per farm hex. Example: If Your city base value was 10,000gp you could borrow 5 build points, and you would owe 10 BPs.

Finally paying back. Very simply put you must pay back the money you borrow, or you will be looking at civil unrest the likes of which is nearly unheard of. Interest on the money you borrow is 10% round up minimum of 1, per month.
Example: 20BPs worth of debt would be 2 BP you must pay, in interest, per month. If you fail to pay the interest then your unrest jumps to 10, or its current level, whichever is higher. If it above 10 you automatically loose a hex. In addition for every 10 BP you owe increase unrest by a further 1.
