Aluradux's eyes mist over as she bows her head and clutches the locket that she always seems to have around her neck. Her mind seems to be somewhere far away as she opens it and stares wistfully inside. She jerks back to the present as Popper nudges her and he passes a bowl of vegetables to her. She closes the locket and smiles at the youngster, her melancholy forgotten, as she takes the bowl from him and helps herself to some of the delicious fare.
"Aluradux Hass, prior to your engagement in the consumption of assorted organic matter, my analytical programming detected an increase in your heart rate and respiratory function," notes Sev, having approached the lashunta. "However, my audio receptors did not register any audible cry of alarm or other indicator of distress."
"Therefore, luradux Hass, I must inquire: Are you currently functioning at standard efficiency? Or have you just recently identified a a potential life partner?" No malice or other emotion is evident in the android's words. Yet, perhaps, there is within them a seeming touch of innocence, if not any clear notion of concern.

"What?" The lashunta is momentarily confused by Sev's inquiry, but recovers quickly. "Oh no. Nothing like that. I was just remembering my mother." She opens the locket and shows Sev the holo of an attractive female lashunta holding an infant in her arms.
"She died when I was a teenager. She gave me this locket as a first choices gift shortly before she announced her illness. I know it's a shirren holiday but we always celebrated it. Usually we'd have a big party for all the household staff. Mother would insist on doing the cooking for everyone. Cook would act so annoyed at mother for taking over the kitchen but I think she secretly liked having the day off. Even if mother's cooking wasn't as good. Cook taught me a few things so when I was old enough I always helped mother in the kitchen. I miss those days."
Aluradux sighs and closes the locket. "Anyway since I always wear this locket I made it my spell cache so that I'll have even more reason to keep it close."
