Is the merchandise organized in any way or is it just thrown in willy-nilly? If there doesn't appear to be any organization Aluradux will text Dot to send any inventory info she might have on her datapad.
Since Aluradux's skill at searching is unlikely to be better than the two operatives, she spends her time in the storage unit accessing her social media.
From Aluradux's social media data feed:
Hey everyone out there I need some help from my fans. We're trying to find a first choices gift for a Sonic Tumult superfan. Does anyone have a way to get me in contact with any current or former members of the band? I'd love to get something autographed or even better get a bandmember or two to show up to tonight's party. I'd be more than happy to help promote any future concerts or music releases in return. #BestFirstChoicesEver, #SonicTumultIsTheBest
Probably pointless but maybe I can make a profession (influencer) check to get in contact with the band?

Sev's scans indicate that the desired article of clothing has a 78% chance of being located in the far corner of the storage unit. The Starfinders wade through the packed boxes to the indicated crate, carefully pull it out of its stack, and open it to reveal old-school Sonic Tumult hoodies still individually sealed in factory wrapping. Rodkin pulls out one of the right size, slips it into his pack, and closes the crate.
A loud CRASH and the tinkling of broken glass hitting the boxes and floor are quickly drowned out by a pair of screaming fireworks that continue their wild trajectory into the warehouse and explode in a burst of fire and sound. Several boxes immediately catch on fire, and the sheer force of the explosion threatens to overwhelm even the experienced Starfinders!

- Everything is difficult terrain
- Fires can be extinguished via the following methods (standard action unless otherwise noted):
-- There are two fire extinguishers in the hallway outside (marked on the map) that can put out fire on 1 square as a standard action or 2 adjacent squares as a full-round action
-- Putting at least 1 bulk of water on a burning square
-- An Athletics check to use blankets or other objects to smother 1 adjacent burning square
-- A Computers check while adjacent to one of the non-functioning fire suppression nozzles in the ceiling (cyan octagons, 15 ft high, plenty of boxes to climb to get up there) to activate (each nozzle only covers one half of the storage unit)
-- An Engineering check to build a fire break around an adjacent fire (does not extinguish, but lessens chance of that fire spreading)
-- A Survival check to put out an adjacent burning square
-- A Profession (firefighter) check to put out an adjacent burning square

@Sev - Acrobatics isn't a valid option (at least not without some very strong reasoning), but that looks like your Athletics modifier rather than your Acrobatics modifier so I'm going to assume that was a mistype.

To the best of my understanding, it does not.
Nicknick joins the impromptu fire brigade with his own extinguisher as Aluradux and Rodkin spray the burning boxes between them. Sev improvises with sub-standard goods, proving they can still be useful as they keep the flames beneath them from getting enough oxygen. The nozzle on the ceiling gets white foam on everyone, but most of it lands on the last smoldering crate and extinguishes it. The storage unit is still filled with smoke, but is no longer on fire.
Out of initiative!
"Update. I have spoken with the Absalom Station Emergency Services. Responders are already on their way to our location as there have been nine separate reports of fires in this building. Also, Dot wishes to speak with you." The computer pauses for a moment before projecting the merchant's face into the air above Aluradux's wrist.
"Hello? Starfinders? You're not still at the storage unit, are you? I've been notified of a fire..." The image squints as if trying to make out details before its eyes widen. "You are! Goodness, are you alright? Yes, you wouldn't be listening to an old lady chatter on if you were in a burning building. Has the fire brigade arrived yet? No? You put that out yourselves? See, I knew I could trust such competent young folks. Don't worry about paying for the sweatshirt - you did get the sweatshirt, right? - considering what you've done for me. I'll have to inventory the place tonight and then submit the insurance claims, but I might even come out ahead considering how long some of that stuff had been sitting there without selling. Kinnik can't help himself from bouncing around in a circle, clutching the garment. "It's exactly like Celeed's old one! He'll be so happy!"
Finally getting ahold of himself, Kinnik bobs his head in gratitude over and over. "Thank you thank you thank you so much! Here! I know it's not much, but take these cookies! They're chocolate raspberry - my favorite!" He grabs a large bag from a tray table near the door and pushes it into Sev's hands. "Oh! And here!" He grabs a small package wrapped in brightly-colored blue-green paper and tucks it into the bag. "I panicked and ordered a backup gift for Celeed, but now I don't need it so you should have it! Thank you again for all your help!"
Underneath the giftwrap is a ghost killer weapon fusion seal.

A few days later, the Starfinders receive a text message from Camellia.
Thank you for helping Kinnik find a gift for Celeed! Your kindness gave him the courage to share his feelings with Celeed, and they had a wonderful time celebrating First Choices together!
Have you ever visited a Newspark parade? Newspark is a holiday created by androids and centering around a parade or street festival. Originally, this parade was a march for recognition and justice, as androids fought to be legally recognized as citizens. In time, this parade became a celebration of freedom and community. Today, teams of revelers, often called Sparklors, plan a parade incorporating homemade floats, outrageous outfits, and loud music. The parade stops at various homes and businesses along its route, receiving gifts of food, drink, or conversation from the residents.
The Newspark parade is tonight, and my friend Yichen and their team of Sparklors have faced setback after setback! Now, poor Yichen isn’t sure they’ll be able to finish their float in time for the parade! I’d hate to see Yichen’s hard work wasted. Please head down to the parade staging grounds near Jatembe Park and lend Yichen a hand. Their float is the Jeweled Flower.
Your friend,
Camellia
------------------------------------------------
The streets around Jatembe Park are packed with festivalgoers dressed in bright colors. Many carry prepackaged snacks and small gifts, assumedly to share with the Sparklors and other celebrants. The parade route has been blocked off from other traffic, and many floats already line the street - each more extravagant than the last. A holographic unicorn frolicks amid cotten-candy clouds, a self-contained sphere of water constantly changes shape, animatronic animals cavort in a jungle scene, a cartoonish starship wreathed in rainbow smoke - and those are only the ones that can be seen!
Camilla's directions lead the Starfinders to a small garage nearby, just off the parade route. Inside sits the Jeweled Flower, a gorgeous float in shades of red, pink, and white. The float's sides are lined in delicate rows of silk and crystal flowers, surrounding a central platform made in the form of a red rose. The petals are crafted from stiff silk - soft, yet firm in design.
Dancing atop a hoverboard above the center of the rose is an android in extravagant, flowing attire. "Starfinders!" they exclaim as the group enters, riding their hoverboard down to ground level. "Camellia said they would send someone, though their description doesn't do you justice!" The android slips their hoverboard under their arm and bows in greeting. "Yichen, at your service! Though, I hope you'll also be at mine!"
Despite the float’s beauty, it’s clearly unfinished, with missing flowers, an unfinished platform, and no other features. Fortunately, the Jeweled Flower isn’t the only unfinished float. Another float, this one a hovering castle festooned with streamers and flags, is also under construction in this modest garage. Numerous Sparklors scurry around this second float, including a lashunta installing an old-fashioned cannon filled with fireworks and a pair of skittermanders (one with purple fur, the other green) tinkering with a holographic projector.
"So, first we need to get this float finished. I'll be honest, we don't have time for me to check everything, so I'm gonna trust your judgement." Yichen gestures at the Jeweled Flower. "What do you think it needs most?"
This is an open-ended skill challenge - come up with a plan of action and make a related skill check. Some examples are:
- Use Computers of Engineering to program the float with exciting mechanical movement
- Use Athletics or Engineering to complete construction on the float's central platform or other large components
- Use Acrobatics or Sleight of Hand to add decorative flourishes to the float or complete other fine details in difficult-to-reach places
- Use Perception or Piloting to ensure there are clear sight lines for the float's driver or otherwise ensure the safety of the float

"The design of the vehicle designated as the 'Jeweled Flower', is quite inefficient, although not as much so as the vehicle next to it," declares Sev as he looks from the Jeweled Flower to the hovering castle. "The castle structure provides few aerodynamic benefits and the flags and streamers have a 97% probability of producing increased drag."
"I suggest, Yuchen, that the vehicle frame incorporate a more streamlined design, which would not only result in higher efficiency, but also reduce the requisite amount of materials and labor necessary to effectuate the project's timely completion," suggests the android.

Aluradux is cheerfully shooed away from the other float's holoprojector before she can make too many updates by the two skittermanders, but that doesn't stop her from rigging up something similar for Yichen's float.
"Uh oh."
A sudden screeching and the sound of screaming fill the small garage as the magitech projector tears itself loose from the castle float. Lights inside the projector flicker, then flare to life as the hologram jester it had been displaying returns to life in a blaring clash of colors - and a violent expression on its face. "Hey kids!" the jester jests. "Why shouldn't you eat a clown? Because they taste funny! Haha!"

"Hey kids!" the jester jests. "Why shouldn't you eat a clown? Because they taste funny! Haha!"
Sev's programming goes into overdrive, analyzing the median age of those beings present, concluding that none present would be considered a juvenile representation of their species, let alone a child or 'kid'. The android intends to correct the apparent hardlight harlequin when his programming slows to conduct a comprehensive list of reasons why consumption of a circus performer would be inadvisable, being with a compilation of practical and nutritional explanations, then continuing on to those based upon a general consensus of social taboos regarding cannibalism.
Sev pauses and cocks his head for a moment, before noting flatly, "Perhaps, the warning not to ingest was, in fact, in jest."
The jester giggles and bounces to Rodkin. "Do you know why the clown was sad?" it asks gleefully.
"It's because she broke her funny bone! Haha!"
When the jester speaks again, Sev is able to now respond more quickly.
"If by 'funny bone', you are referring to the ulnar nerve, then you should be aware that it cannot be 'broken' in the conventional sense. While I would postulate that a diagnosis of nerve damage may cause momentary distress, given the current state of medical knowledge and biotechnical expertise, I think it improbable that treatment would prevent such from leading to any extended period of sadness or depression," Sev explains. "Unless, of course, you intended the reference to be a form of social commentary regarding the unfortunate inaccessibility to health care that plagues those who obtain low-wage, itinerant employment within the entertainment industry. If so, then your choice in word play could, indeed, be considered scathingly clever."
The android pauses to consider the hologram in a new.... light.

Sev deducts that the hologram is glitching, creating what is for most intents and purposes a separate creature. But as Rodkin stated earlier, the hologram requires a projector to maintain its existence - destroy that, and the jester will soon follow. But until then, studies have shown that force effects - like the missiles Nicknick is employing - will be most effective against an incorporeal creature like the hologram. The next most effective effects would be energy attacks and magically-enhanced kinetic attacks, though they will be half as effective as they would be under optimal operating conditions. Mundane kinetic attacks will pass through the hologram without effect, possibly damaging other creatures or property on the jester's other side.
With these deductions deducted, the android moves to get a clear line of fire and sends a wave of sonic energy at the hologram. It connects, but as expected it seems less effective than usual.
Trick is successful, attack is successful, Incorporeal halves the damage.
The projector floats up out of Rodkin's reach, then fires a firework at Sev like a makeshift rocket launcher. (Guarded Step, then attack.)

Sleight Of Hand to trick, Tricking CR: 1d20 + 15 - 20 ⇒ (20) + 15 - 20 = 15
Attack with azimuth laser pistol: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10
Fire Damage, Critical burn 1d4: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Trick Attack Damage, Also Fire: 1d8 ⇒ 2
For Debilitating Trick, I will make Red Flat Footed for the Round, Except I missed the Attack roll
Aluradux Hass |
Aluradux is horrified at the belligerent hologram. "Oh dear. I hope that's not my fault."
Aluradux moves to be able to see the hateful harlequin and then fires a brace of magic missiles.
magic missile x2: 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (1, 4) + 2 = 7
"Hey you stupid jester. Hasn't anyone told you? Clowns aren't funny!" She points to Sev. "Sev here doesn't even have a sense of humor and he's ten times funnier than you!"
GM Hawthwile |
"Remember kids - don't argue with a fool because a listener will think there's two! Haha!" The jester makes a wet raspberry sound and dances over to where Sev and Aluradux are standing. "Hey, what do you call a drawing of a clown?"
Red Slam vs Aluradux KAC 16: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (19) + 11 = 30

Aluradux (13/20 SP)
Rodkin (18/24 SP)
Red Jester (-28)
Sev (18/24 SP)
Nicknick
Black Projector (10 ft above ground)
What do you do?
Sev- |
"Hey you stupid jester. Hasn't anyone told you? Clowns aren't funny!" She points to Sev. "Sev here doesn't even have a sense of humor and he's ten times funnier than you!"
"I am curious as to the form of metric that you are utilizing," Sev responds. "As for this threat, it may be neutralized by destroying the projector."
The android attempts to tumble past the holographic foe.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (12) + 15 = 27
He then turns and fires on the projector.
Ranged attack (thunderstrike sonic pistol): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23
Ranged damage (thunderstrike sonic pistol) So: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Alas, can't trick objects.

"I am curious as to the form of metric that you are utilizing," Sev responds.
Continuing to taunt the hologram, Aluradux points to the android. "See what I mean? Hilarious! You, not so much."
Twisted Nicknick |
Well that's not a cooperation attitude.
The ysoki unleashes a new volley of missiles but on the projector this time.
Magic missiles, Harmful spell: 3d4 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (2, 3, 3) + 3 + 2 = 13
GM Hawthwile |
Alas, can't trick objects.
The projector is a construct creature as well (hence the behavior like Guarded Step) and should be Trick-able. That being said, I'm not certain about being able to Tumble past an enemy and Trick another (since Tumbling is a Move action and Trick Attack is a Full-Round action).
Side note: as I was digging through the Acrobatics skill rules for Tumbling, I noticed that you have to make a check for each threatened square you move through (with the DC increasing by +2 for each successive square). Let's not retcon that now, but we'll keep it in mind for the future.
The projector displays a frowning face icon as Sev's and Nicknick's missiles bombard it. It returns fire with two fireworks that shriek and sizzle as they careen through the air towards Sev.
Black Flare Gun, Full Attack vs Sev EAC 15: 1d20 + 10 - 4 ⇒ (15) + 10 - 4 = 21
Fire damage: 1d3 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Black Flare Gun, Full Attack vs Sev EAC 15: 1d20 + 10 - 4 ⇒ (15) + 10 - 4 = 21
Fire damage: 1d3 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
"Wow! That sure was ma-jest-ic! Haha!"

What do you do?
RodKin Ratrod's Cousin |
Clown, we really don't like your Jest-ic-u-lations.
Rodkin takes a shot at the Projector
Sleight Of Hand to trick, Tricking CR: 1d20 + 15 - 20 ⇒ (8) + 15 - 20 = 3
Attack with azimuth laser pistol: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23
Fire Damage, Critical burn 1d4: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Trick Attack Damage, Also Fire: 1d8 ⇒ 3
If the projector is less than CR 3, and the 23 hits, I would like to make it Flat Footed as my Debilitating Trick
Aluradux Hass |
Clown, we really don't like your Jest-ic-u-lations.
"Ugh! Don't you start. The stupid clown is bad enough."
Pinned against the wall by the evil jester, Aluradux moves away and casts a defensive spell.
mirror image: 1d4 ⇒ 1
Her movement will provoke an AoO
GM Hawthwile |
The jester spins around like a top and taps Aluradux on the head as she walks away. "Do you know why clowns always have stiff necks?"
Red AoO Slam vs Aluradux KAC 16: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (14) + 11 = 25
Bludgeoning damage: 1d4 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
"It's because they sleep funny! Haha!" The hologram tap-dances through the castle float and pirouettes, flinging a leg out to kick Rodkin partway through. "Hey kids! What happens if you boil a clown?"
Red Slam vs Rodkin KAC 20: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (16) + 11 = 27

Sev repositions, then fires at the projector.

Ranged damage (thunderstrike sonic pistol) So: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Twisted Nicknick |
That's not a funny clown. He should be punished.
Energy ray: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
Damage electricity: 1d3 ⇒ 3
GM Hawthwile |
Even with the projector's flight system scrambled by Rodkin's tricksy ways, the little robot that could manages to swerve out of the way of Sev's sonic blast. Nicknick finds the jester an equally vexing foe as the hologram steps to the side and salutes the electric ray. The projector fires one more firework back at the android...
Black Flare Gun vs Sev EAC 15: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17

Rodkin will attempt to Tumble past the Red Clown
DC is (15 + 1.5 X CR) +2 for the second square
Acrobatics to Tumble Through: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (11) + 14 = 25
And try to shoot the Black Projector, but I don't think I can Tmble as part of the move with a Trick Attack, even though the Tumble is part of the move up to your speed action.
