Oh Good! I hope those high level casters can get teleportation on the fore front of their minds. Just saying.
I will do a progression in a little bit.

lol if it wasn't mentioned, I was wondering if I was in the right section.
I see that Rp has snuck into the discussion section.

"Only for you my dear." He says as his smile deepens. He lightly flaps his wings in response. "Yes I was good with words and awkward like the rest of us. But this is a fresh start, a new body, and the charisma just seems to ooze out. With it I have complete confidence and yet I still feel like I am missing something. I love flying!"
Yes, RP for the week of inventory.

I'm not actually sure the Guild needs an HR Dept just yet.
In some ways, each member is like an independant operator affiliated for the greater good; they would probably need to damage the 'greater good' to be sanctioned really.

I would imagine the guildmaster is more like a spokesman, or chair of the board. He officiates meetings, edudicates conflicts between members, ensures compliance with guild policy, and acts as spokesman when The Guild needs communicate with one voice, but other than that has no specific authority over members of the guild. He is still subject to the dictates of the membership, and if not acting on an existing policy, needs to call a meeting to get a consensus from the membership to enact a new rule. As boring as Board of Directors type meetings are, we might need to hold a vote on what should be considered quorum with our current reduced membership. I would think that missing more than 1 or 2 members at this point would be enough to make any ruling temporary, needing to be ratified when all members are present.
Dennis: I *told* you! We're an anarcho-syndicalist commune! We're taking turns to act as a sort of executive-officer-for-the-week--
Arthur: (uninterested) Yes...
Dennis: But all the decisions *of* that officer 'ave to be ratified at a special bi-weekly meeting--
Arthur: (perturbed) Yes I see!
Dennis: By a simple majority, in the case of purely internal affairs--
Arthur: (mad) Be quiet!
Dennis: But by a two-thirds majority, in the case of more major--
The point is valid though that there should probably be a vice-guildmaster, for those occasions when Jacen is unavailable, incapacitated, the subject of sanction, or has recused himself due to conflict of interest.

"There is no shortage of things to get used to." As an example, she starts scratching her back, doing the impossible finger wiggle with two hands, looking at her nails, and juggling two small knives, all at the same time.
"The incredible abilities of this form are kind of mind boggling. Not to mention the mental parts; I can speak about six languages now, and none of them are real! I just think about what this would sound like in Draconic, and it just comes out?"
"Figuring out the whole bathroom conundrum is a tale I'll spare you, but what I will say is that snake anatomy is weird."
"Though what has me truly beside myself though is the sleep question! Do you remember that raid we did on the Faustian's guild headquarters, about 4 years ago? We all stayed plugged in way past the recommended limits. I think I did about 26 hours without sleep, and some of you guys went longer. I felt like a zombie by the end of it, and could barely talk straight. We've been here continuously for a week, and if you hadn't noticed, our bodies are behaving as they should in-game. I sleep only about 2 hours a day, just like my abilities say I should. I don't think Ginza has rested for a second. Think about that; he has been continuously active for almost 200 hours, with no sign of fatigue, mental clouding, or anything. If his body is was still plugged on and functioning as it should, he should be psychotic by now from sleep deprivation, but he sounds as clear as he did on day one. This should be impossible!"

I had another idea for a Guild Name. How about:
Götterdämmerung
It is a German word that translates literally as, "Twilight of the Gods," and has a similar connotation to Ragnarok, or the end of the world. Whereas Ragnarok refers to the world itself ending, Gotterdammerung refers more to the idea of a way of life ending, such as being wiped out by aliens or a civilization so different from your own that life afterwards would be unimaginable. Kind of like death by genocide.
It is from Wagner's opera Der Ring des Nibelungen from which that very famous piece of music, Ride of the Valkeries is actually from.
I've been listening to Dan Carlin's Hardcore Hitory lately, and the phrase has come up in a few different episodes.

Having been demoted to Chief Compliance Officer, I am happy to call the vote:
and being half-German,
and having taken 7 years of German Language & Literature,
and possibly being the only person who has read the Nibelungenlied in German,
I am, we can imagine, very much in favor.

I vote for the guild name change to Götterdämmerung.

Good to see world still works. You just know any time you launch into a detailed description of something, someone in the group is going to know more about it than you. Oh well, hopefully I got it all right.
As for the demotion, it is how I picture the guild functioning, but not the only model we could use. What I described is how a Chairman of the Board or CEO would work. He's not a king, but he is the default authority;sort of a first among equals. I am open to discussing other opinions, but in a Guild where we are all full members of relatively equal authority, it would appear to make the most sense.

and I apologize ... for having a wealth of THAT experience too ;)
I was teasing about the demotionI have logged more hours volunteering on not-for-profit Boards of Directors than I care to think about, and have in fact had the role of Bylaws Ombudsman. Was probably my favorite post ever to be honest, I think the only word missing was quorum.
(and I def do NOT know more about Wagner, or the Musical Drama; there was an amazing limited series comic book in the 90s tho)

Half German/Half Russian here :).
Götterdämmerung ist essentially a misstranslation of Ragnarrök, it would supposed to be "Fate of the gods", but got mistranlated as "Dusk of the Gods", which get weirder because in German, "Dämmerung" can be either dusk or dawn depending on wether it is preceded by "Morgen" (Morning) or "Abend" (Evening)
Its pretty amazing how well understandable it is though (for a german speaker), compared to say, Hildebrandslieds, Merseburg spells etc.
Some Music song in middle germanic (merseburger Zaubersprüche) I think
Heilung:Traust
Also, German tribes clearly were communists, the refrain of that song is "and protect me from the vengeance of rich men".

Just some bits of roleplay with Mrs. Cyclops
Making some preperations in the wellness area of the keep with the battlemaids (she bids them to prepare hair dressing equipment and a supply of water of different temperatures).
She then spell kennings to cast visualization of the body (casting time 1 hour lel), to improve the skill check she is about to make. She also casts heroism on herself.
May I enter? If she assents.
How about some hair dressing? The Maids have set something up?
Walking with her, she arrives at the wellness part of the dungeon and, since Alexandra can see now, conjures imagnes a number of possible hair styles.
Long Term, it would be useful if I could somehow copy my own hairs ability onto yours, no current idea how to actually do that thoughEkaterina speaks as her Hair moves by herself.
Assuming she assents to a hair stylist session, Ekaterina will use this to merrily chat and gossip, aiming to reinforce that she is friendly and reasonably fun to be around.
Rolling for the skill check:
yet unknown skill check: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 6 + 2 = 20
+gallant inspiration: 2d4 ⇒ (1, 1) = 2 if I fail, + whatever I actually have in this skill. For a 20 or 22 before skill skill ranks and ability modifiers.

He would be flying a pattern around the keep in all directions, expanding outwards. He would only be looking for major features, such as settlements, significant geographical features, and so on.
I ended up doing some research on search patterns, and on how far you could see from various altitudes, and at what distance you could spot a structure (up to 20 miles on a clear day, but I used half of that here, as a margin of error).
Long story short, flying out in concentric spirals, in a week he could get a solid idea of everything within about 60-70 miles of the keep. Not a huge distance, but the search pattern would let him see everything near the keep.
Amadea |
He'd probably take one sweep across the water at some point just to look for islands. He'd probably fly along in view of the coast, 25-30 miles offshore, which would also give him a view of 30 miles or so on the other side. It wouldn't be a detailed view, but he'd get a general sense of the number and size of the islands.

A walk represents unhurried but purposeful movement (3 miles per hour for an unencumbered adult human). A character moving his speed one time in a single round, is walking when he or she moves.
Hustle
A hustle is a jog (about 6 miles per hour for an unencumbered human). A character moving his speed twice in a single round, or moving that speed in the same round that he or she performs a standard action or another move action, is hustling when he or she moves.
So if your speed is 100 feet you could travel about 3 times faster than an adult human. 18 miles in an hour. About 5 hours would be 100 miles. About 8 hours would be 160 miles.
My math must have been wrong from before as Dom took most of a day flying as he hustled to get to Amberville.
So Amberville must be at least 200 miles away.
Your speed for 10 hours of hustling would get you to Amberville.
So going at hustling speed for 10 hours would get your group to Amberville.

You're right, not sure what I was thinking; that is about what I had Malum Malus doing during scouting (about 100 miles a day), and for some reason my brain skipped to 100mph.
So if we left before dawn, around 0500, that should put us there midafternoon at 1500, or 3pm.

The summoning stone sounds like a pretty cool device.
It actually could be cool for the party to have them as well.
I'd use the Senate Aid Badge as the base item.
The don't list a price for the master badges, but I'd say double the base price. So 3,000 for each person that wants a master badge and 1,500 for each associated badge (i.e. for cohorts you want to track but not send messages to).
10 messages per day (plus responding to other's messages for free) should be enough for most purposes.

I will be on vacation from tonight through Monday. I am not sure what my internet situation will be through the trip, but I will try and be available to post at least once a day. Bot me as needed if I am taking to long.

Ginza, you are in the tavern, in the south, with Domayoku, Shashanta, and Kazko.

Alright, we're South team.
That makes it easier to label us.

Sorry for being slow, life is hectic right now. I think tomorrow night will be much better. I am beat and I am going to crash. 10 hours organizing classroom so they can clean it was killer.
FYI, I will be on vacation for a week and a half, no wifi in the bunkhouse. I will see what I can do but no promises, we will see.
Lady Ekaterina |
I will need about 1 day for my gifts, but would say 2 days to gather some additional information, and get popular with the locals.

Okay folks I am back and should be able to make multiple posts per day. I expect at least one post a day from each of you. Interact with each other, post what you do as well as say, let us keep this game rolling!
*I totally understand things coming up and getting super busy, vacations, and life changes. Just keep in contact with us!
What vacations do people have planned? I just went to Rockaway Oregon for time on the beach.
