Did the Painful Stare work? It would give +1 damage for the first hit if it did.
Baldrum Battlehand

So Baldrums AoO did not hit?
And another question: Is Baldrum now flanking with Ulyara (=does she threaten the undead) or not?
Cith the Curious

And another question: Is Baldrum now flanking with Ulyara (=does she threaten the undead) or not?
Baldrum is flanking with Cith who has a reach weapon regardless of if Ulyara threatens.

Uliyara is not threatening at the moment. The undead is a variant ghoul. Undead have immunity to all mind affecting effects, which includes the mesmerists Stare
Kalak Sunrunner
|
Kalak surprised for a moment, immediately snarls, his anger seething through, and takes a massive swing onto the frozen undead dwarf! The spirits will rest! No longer will you suffer eternally - may you find peace in rest! he closes with the creature as he does so, trying to smash the frozen ghoul apart
Bless, rage, Inspire Courage, power attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28

And that is the undead completely eliminated. (No more cold aura).
Lying on the table is Vargrim’s waraxe. It is a masterwork dwarven waraxe.
Vargrim’s pack contains his personal diary, written in Dwarven, containing the story of Hao Jin transporting the entire city to safety, his last minute search for his son, and being left behind just as Baba Yaga’s armies closed in. ((see handout on slides))
The beard clasp worn by the frozen dwarf is a gladdringgoch, a traditional beard or hair clasp that a clan’s leader wears as a mark of status.
Kalak Sunrunner
|
Kalak leans on the table, breathing hard, and resting for a moment, You fought bravely Vargrim, now go to the halls of your people. Can anyone read this journal? The language of the dwarves is a mystery to me.
Cith the Curious
|
Cith says “I suspect Baldrum can read the journal.”
He then gets out a wand and uses it to heal his wounds.

Syco Brutus

Ugh Syco grunts, his facial hair covered in minuscule ice crystals, I wouldn't say "no" to a bit of healing, you know...
Blasted undead! he exclaims angrily, kickin a frozen piece of the ex-dwarf on the ground, And to the Hells with this damned cold! I swear as soon as I'm back in Absalom I'll spend a whole week in a boiling-hot tub!
Cith the Curious
|
“Sure.” Cith says, using the same wand on Syco. He then concentrates for a moment, implanting his trick in himself again.

Uliyara uses one of her Cure Spells to heal herself up before offering the use of the remainder to the rest of the party.
Cith the Curious
|
Looking towards Uliyara, Cith says “Thanks, we might need that.”
Looking at the body of the undead dwarf, he then says “Do you get that sort of reaction often? I assume this time it wasn’t personal, but it seemed to be very personal with Baroness Urgalaena.”
He pauses a moment, then says “If there is something we should know about her or that relationship, please share it before it becomes a big problem.”
Baldrum Battlehand
|
“Uliyara, please save your spells, we might need them later. I have a wand for healing.”
The monk/cleric gets out a wand of CLW and uses it on everyone who needs it.
Everyone, please roll yourself for healing. I'll subtract the charges from my wand.
CLW Baldrum: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
“Yes, I can read the journal. But first let me have a look at this gladdringgoch...”
Baldrum casts guidance on himself.

“He's royalty. From King Gutheran’s family lines.” You may open the spoiler.

Mother wants to contact the outsiders, trade, and get to know them. Auntie is all about conquest and the superiority of the Jadwiga
As for the dwarf, from what you read in his journal, I can only conclude he dates back from the time when Irrisen was first conquered by the Jadwiga. He saw me and thought I was one of them
She grins at Syco's comment. That sounds nice
Cith the Curious
|
“That must make your dealings challenging! I do hope you are successful.”
Syco Brutus
|
“Sure.” Cith says, using the same wand on Syco.
Thanks Cith. The more time passes, the more I think I'm really out of place here...
She grins at Syco's comment. That sounds nice
Yeah, ehm Syco's cheeks get a bit more color in them Well, hot baths are usually, uhm, nice, you know. He avoids looking Haltani in the eyes, So, are we going to move? I'm freezing here the half-orc checks again the room for anything out of place, then if he deems it safe he passes the doorway.

Uliyara continues grinning as the party continue exploring. Unfortunately there is nothing more significant to find here and it becomes obvious if the piece of the Sky Key was here, it probably went with the bulk of the fort into the Tapestry.
Upon exiting these rooms and moving back into the icy area in the foyer, you encounter another Jadwiga woman accompanied by a Dalun guard, an ice bear, and a small ice elemental. A raven sits on the woman's shoulder.
Who are you and what are you doing? she demands.
Nilah Sevrom
|
Nilah sheaths her scimitar after the undead dwarf is destroyed. She spends the next several minutes warming up in her coat again while the others translate the dwarven diary.
When confronted by the Jadwiga woman she gets to talking fast.
We are surveyors from Dalun, cataloging artifacts found in this place. We've covered all the rooms and haven't found more than a few diaries and rusted bits of equipment. We were expecting to translate the works we found in peace. So, we don't need any extra protection and you can leave us to it!
Bluff: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (14) + 14 = 28 Another +1 if the listener could be attracted to Nilah

Yeah? Sure you're not spies from Scarbotten trying to capture Uliyara? the woman replies making a gesture as if she's about to cast a spell.
At that, Uliyara steps from behind the rest of the party.
Kiryena! Stand down .... I'm right here - and I'm NOT a captive
Sure you haven't been ensorcelled to say that? Kiryena replies, still looking unconvinced. I mean ... isn't that what they'd do? She glares at Nilah as if she's calling her bluff. I know you're NOT from Dalun
Kaseem ibn al Majid
|
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
"We aren't spies or else Uliyara's aunt wouldn't have sent that wolf over there (gestures to the dead winter wolf) to kill us and bring Uliyara back to Saarbotten. And we haven't cast any magics on her, check for yourself. We're traders and explorers looking for something of value in Dalun and we didn't find anything except a very angry undead dwarf that tried to kill us and a couple of leftover weapons. Sadly nothing much considering how difficult it was to get here."
Cith the Curious
|
Stepping forward, Cith says “We are not native to Dalun, but we do have the permission of Baroness Nadya.”
With a gesture towards the outside, he says “The wolf pup that attacked us was from Scarbotten, demanding that we turn over our guide to them. I imagine you saw how that negotiation ended.”
Looking to Haltani, he then says “I assume she is an ally of yours?”
Diplomacy: 10 + 11 = 21

As you said your piece, and Uliyara defended you, Kiryena's anxiety and worry for her kin went away and she relaxed.
She's the closest thing to a sister I have Uliyara replied. Everyone, meet Cousin Kiryena She sighs. I guess when I didn't check in with Mom she got a bit concerned
Darn straight she did, especially with Urgalaena being a right ...... anyway, she wants you home and safe. One of these days you're going to get yourself in right trouble. What are you doing with this .... ragtag lot of misfits?
Uliyara beamed. I .... was having an she paused for dramatic effect Adventure! You should get out more. It was FUN! Heck. I might even join the Pathfinder Society. She turns to look at you all .How do I sign up?
This inquiry causes Kiryena to give her cousin an alarmed look, but she says nothing.
Besides she continues. We did find the diary and the lineage of what happened here. I'd consider that important clues in your quest.
After Kiryena recovers from her cousin's ..... enthusiasm for adventure. she and her guards will escort her back to Dalun. She offers to escort you lot back as well.
Uliyara cannot resist having another jab at Syco. And we have hot baths in Dalun if you really want one.
Kaseem ibn al Majid
|
Kaseem looks insulted and mutters, "'Ragtag lot of misfits?!?!' By the Pharaoh's beard!"
Responding to Uliyara, "True. We do not leave here empty-handed and while the problems of the Worldwound may seem unimportant to your people now, it won't always be so if it continues to spread unchecked. You can accompany us back to Kalsgard and speak with Venture-Captain Calisro Benarry about joining the Society. I must warn you, though, you will be sent far afield to places that are much different than your frozen homeland. Just look at me! I can barely move I'm wearing so many layers of clothes! And I have to use magic on top of that! However your adventurous spirit, curiosity, and openness make you an excellent candidate to join the Pathfinder Society. Plus I could always use a royal contact to secure a lucrative trade contract for my trading company."
Cith the Curious
|
With a chuff of amusement, Cith adds “There is a group in the society that uses the travel and contacts made to do trade.”
He happily fills in more details about joining the society and what it means. He does include the bad with the good.
Nilah Sevrom
|
Nilah rolls her eyes and turns away from the woman, seemingly bored. She thought she was going to get to "play," to use her skills on an adversary.
I guess she's safe. That hot bath does sound good. Nilah quips playfully as she sheaths her scimitar.
She looks at Kiryena and continues, smirking. You should try the "misfit" life sometime. Listen to your cousin, and my colleagues. You would both make great agents, I think.
Syco Brutus
|
Oh well, I've been called worse Syco thinks while spectating the little scene between the two cousins.
When Haltani mentions the hot bath his eyes turn to the ground and his cheeks get once again more colorful.
Yeah, okay, ehm the half-orc mutters, We should move and get somewhere more comfortable, yeah? Let's go.

Before you part company with the Irrisens, Uliyara gifts her ice diamond necklace as a mark of friendship.
The journey from Dalun to Kalsgard proceeds without incident. Once you return to the relative warmth of the Grinning Pixie, Venture-Captain Benarry is able to translate the dwarven journal, if needed. While she initially expresses disappointment that you did not recover a piece of the Sky Key, her chagrin quickly turns to excitement as she reads through Vargrim’s journal.
Venture-Captain Benarry’s face breaks into a wide smirk, and she laughs heartily. To think, Naldak’s piece of the Sky Key has been in the Hao Jin tapestry all along! Well, easy enough. I’ll just have to have a chat with the Master of Spells about sending a group of agents in to pick it up. The tapestry is vast, and we never would have known where to look it weren’t for you. To top that off, studying the section of Naldak’s Point that Hao Jin’s magic narrowly missed ripping out of Golarion could teach us more about the tapestry itself. Well done, Pathfinders!
The Society gains Uliyara as a contact in Irrisen and considers training her as a Pathfinder if they can get Baroness Nadya’s approval. Venture-Captain Benarry thanks you for finding the Pathfinder Society “a new ally in an unforgiving country.” Benarry uses her network of contacts to keep in touch with Uliyara, trading books on customs of the Inner Sea for news from Irrisen.
You have achieved both your Primary and Secondary Success conditions and gain the Warm Friend in a Cold Land boon on your Chronicle Sheets.
Grand Lodge members earn the the Naldak's Legacy boon.
Scarab Sages members earn the Icy Jewel Recovery Boon
This marks the end of the adventure. Could you roll your Day Job checks if you haven't already.
Thank you for playing.
