No objection here, boss.

No objection from me either. Hephaistos doesn’t seem to let me add swarm strike as an attack, but I’ll note it down when I make the alias. I’ll have my sheet posted later today for perusal if you want to get started with background generation, Rando.

Besides me (Vanguard, probably melee) are we going to be melee or range heavy?

Would Improved Trip mess everyone up, make the enemy harder to hit?

Also, I read that "getting up" does not provoke AoOs?

Looking for some tactical synergies.

I'm liking Obsolescence with Disarm... <<< Link

Looking at biohakcer stuff, I can do a lot of debuffing for enemies as well as the general medical-related activities she'll be doing. With that in mind, she'll be more of a short-range small-arms girl. The laser pistol for actual damage, needler to dish out the toxins both friend and foe.

Cool. I'll message you in a few hours to get started.

Keep in mind, there are no Gollarian deities here. This is The Future(tm), though maybe Desna is part of an alien religion.

It was an option, maybe there is an equivalent I can weave in.

Aternatively, it's a piece to an alien encounter related to Death-Touched.

I do appreciate you pointing it out! Just problem solving.

True. Could even be Vesk deity that picked up some human adherents.

Looks good so far guys. Kind of scary so far the reigning "Diplomat" among the primary characters is Dr. Yusil with a 12 Cha. Of course I know Hassan was thinking that route for a secondary. Won't be critical on the first mission.

We can start doing your Service Record via PM whenever you're ready.

Unless there is a "why the hell did you do that?!" From you or my fellow players... I'm good to go.

Male Human Starving Artist 6, Cartographer 6, Babysitter 4

Once we figure out the other main 'languages', she'll even add those to her repitroir. She'd be an exceptional dry, purely academic form of diplomat I suppose if forced into the role.

Which ship departments need some love? Don't want to step on toes... do we have Medical covered?

Would an Ensign Envoy/Mediator in the medical department make sense since they are not part of ship combat... they could negotiate? The ship wasn't looking for a diplomat... but there was an opening for medical personnel.

Perhaps they know Rudo and wanted to travel together. Make some money and see the galaxy.

Could take Profession: Nurse.

They may not be the best "medic" on board... LOL!

Male Human Starving Artist 6, Cartographer 6, Babysitter 4

Might've missed it, but that's the 'Dr.' Portion of Dr. Yusil's name there. Though nominally a geneticist by trade, she's had more then enough time to practice doctoring.

Edit: Her sheet

Good point, sadly never connected Dr. with Medicine/Healing (just knowledge, as in PhD). Ginko Biloba (Fett) for me!

So... for secondary characters?
-Helm and Engineering (Engineer or Pilot) - ?
-Sciences (Science Officer) - ?
-Command (First Officer) - ?
-Combat (Gunner/Security) - ?
-Medical (usually no part in Starship combat)- the Doctor is in!

How come Envoy stuff doesn't work via shipboard communication (conference call)? It all kinda assumes melee (combat map).

Starship combat is kind of its own thing. There are very specific actions each person in a given role can take, so most class-related things don't directly translate to ship combat. In starship combat, Envoys tend to be good at the Captain role, basically encouraging the rest of the crew or taunting the enemy. Not sure if that answers your question.

Maybe an envoy serving as Ship's Psychologist (non-MD) in the Sciences department would be a good Face/Diplomat type Secondary. It would make sense as the type of character the Captain might call on in diplomatic situations. Take a few ranks of Profession Psychologist and pump a bunch of points into socials?

Yes, I remember... it's very mechanical and A/B kinda.

OK, no Envoy.

Male Human Starving Artist 6, Cartographer 6, Babysitter 4

No need to make sure your primary can fill a starship combat roll, as I believe that's what our secondaries are mainly meant for. My own was going to be a young pilot who had big aspirations that never went anywhere.

Male Human Starving Artist 6, Cartographer 6, Babysitter 4

To put it I to star trek terms, we focus mostly on the Away Team, but we switch to the Bridge Crew when things get dicey in space. That about right, Rando?

Uret Jet wrote:

Yes, Rudo is on the away team... but, there seems to be no shipboard diplomacy role.

Male Human (Polish Jew/Native American/Irish) Techie 7/Martial Artist 2

Close. Primarily I wanted to make sure everyone had someone to play that would be useful in Ship combat, and someone to play that would be useful on an away team, and also so I wouldn't have to have the exact same away team every time.

For example, Dr. Yusil is obviously great use on an away team in many cases, from the mundane to the dangerous. Simeon's primary Legion-12 is very useful in either circumstance. Hassan's primary Rudo could be a gunner in ship combat, but is primarily built for away team, but really only in potentially hostile situations.

So I want to make sure there's never (or rarely) a time when any player has NO role in what's going on for entire scenes. For you, a pilot is a great role for your secondary, on the bridge in the middle of the action.

For Hassan, his secondary could be either a ship primary, a landing party primary of a more diplomatic bent, or both.

Male Human (Polish Jew/Native American/Irish) Techie 7/Martial Artist 2
Hassan Ahmed wrote:

Well, obviously more can happen on a Starship that combat. Anyone with high social skills would be useful in communicating whether on the commlink or in person. Diplomacy and negotiations will happen between vessels, just not really WHILE in combat.

Rudo is high BAB with a decent Dex, which makes him a fair choice for gunner, so he can easily fill Starship combat duty.

Taylor Young, mid-20's, human. Always loved starships since he was a kid, but more for looks rather than anything technical. Went to flight school with aspirations of becoming a professional star-racer, but his family urged him into the military instead. He kind've absolutely hates it, and would've left after his first tour if he wasn't more afraid to disappoint his family.

I believe so as well, it's just that most (if not all) the Envoy Improvisations refer to in person combat map type situations.

But, if there is a chance she will be off-ship, Envoy could work.

Nice. What an interesting character. Looking at what I've giving my NPC officers, go ahead and stat him with a +12 Pilot. If we need to stat the character out further at some point we can.

Well, we've got some time to consider. You're in a position where you don't absolutely NEED a second character right away, since Rudo CAN do both landing party and starship combat fairly well. Take as much time as you need.

The concept had me at "Diplomat with a Sniper Rifle" because it's all about... persuasion.

Damn, medical looks stylish as hell. I approve. If they're not assigned, I call Van Maanen's Star as the Dakkar home system. No particular reason other then it's an actual named star, though I think a White Dwarf is fitting.

SLight complaint, I had to turn my head to read the ship labels, but it looks interesting as a design.

.

I think I had placed them somewhere but I'll look at moving them when I get home and can see the map on not my phone.

As far as the ship yeah I just kind of uploaded what I had I guess I could rotate it.

Thanks for taking a look.

What sort of damage does that borer do?

Also, I think the calculation on your Engineering is off. It looks like you put 3 Ranks in it. It should be +3 int/+3 (ranks)/+3 class/+2 skill synergy = 11, shouldn't it?

I'll send you a PM to get started on your service record.

Random bit of info: The Guangzhou has a crew of 51: 11 officers (your 4 main characters, your 4 secondaries, the Captain, Lt. Williams, and 1 unnamed officer).

Only two of the noncoms have been named so far on the board: Chief Adelstein (Commissary chief) and Warrant Officer Patel (Security/gunner).

+12 in fact - +1 for being a Mechanic.

And the Borer apparently does cold or fire damage, as I wish. Huh, that's neat.

Looks good.

Neat, wonder how that works.

Can we get a quick run-down of the PC cast primary and secondary? My character has two more language slots open, and I'd like to fill it with any other alien languages they might speak first.

Human

My primary is Legion-12, android nanocyte 3. My secondary is Canny Resolve of the Azure Host, spathinae/k’drunn soldier 2/biohacker 1.

I’ll get the stats for my secondary up fairly soon, along with some background details (and an explanation for their crazy name too).

Primary
Human Gravity Dweller
Rudo "the Saint" Clausius - Vanguard, Lt & Head of Security

Secondary
Human Featherlight
Oren "Tanta" Knightgale - Operative/Envoy, Ensign, Helm & Engineering Diplomat

Male Human (Polish Jew/Native American/Irish) Techie 7/Martial Artist 2

I'm thinking Tanta might be in H&E (Helm & Engineering) as a shuttle pilot. She'd be the pilot the captain picks when you need someone diplomatic on the away mission. Just an idea though, since Hassan hadn't picked a department for her.

Sounds good to me.

I didn't want to step on toes or be redundical.

I've got a couple of allusion (non game related) themes going on with the two characters. Days of futures past type of things. Elsewhere/Elsewhen.

If anyone picks up on them, give me a shout-out!

Male. Mostly. Human. Mostly. Archaeologist

My Primary Character is Arkady, human mechanic with a penchant for heavy weaponry. Somewhere between a skill monkey and heavy hitter.

For secondary, I'm still processing. I know we need something a little more diplomatic, but I'm not sure which classes are good for that in Starfinder. Suggestions?

Human

Here is the link to my secondary, Canny Resolve of the Azure Host.

Essentially, each k'drunn has a specific emotional role that they're assigned to feel within their hive fleet, in this case Canny Resolve, who's hive fleet is known as the Azure Host. Hence the whole name, Canny Resolve of the Azure Host.

Male Human Starving Artist 6, Cartographer 6, Babysitter 4

Fancy, good lore to it too. Do they have a language they speak?
