I think you mean the charau-ka, which is the only close-ish target, but even it is further than 30 feet (spell range is measured same as movement, with diagonals costing 1.5), but perhaps you have the movement left to get in closer?

It's two actions to cast, so Oren wouldn't have been able to get in range. If that's the case, then he'd just use it to grant himself Fire Resistance 5 and wait

The vrock screeches in surprise, pain, and fury, turning both in response to the lance and hearing its native tongue, looking down at Caiten out of intense red eyes.

Seeing the vrock glaring at him, Caiten raises his free hand in a rude gesture and glares back.

Lisi, despite all the distractions and the distance, you notice a small figure briefly emerge from the wooden hut on the other side of the mining pit. It must be the kobold Hezle; you catch a glimpse of cobalt-blue scales from underneath the figure’s cloak. She is small even for a kobold. She opens the door and looks out, and you catch a quick glance at a cluttered low-ceilinged space, and a fire within that produces the wafts of smoke rising from the hut's chimney. Hezle briefly emerges, a staff in one hand, takes something off a wooden table in front of the hut, and goes back inside.

Dario bursts from the trees, fires his pistol at the vrock, and continues to move while reloading. His aim is true and black feathers rain down on Lisi.

pistol: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (12) + 17 = 29
pistol damage: 2d6 + 1 ⇒ (4, 6) + 1 = 11

Cev also comes running out of the trees and moves to engage with the charau-ka charging the group, swinging at it with his longsword. His sword glances off the creature's hide armor, but he does stop its charge. I did not see any distance attack options for Cev to attack the vrock.

Lisi and the Mokele-Mbembe are up! Lisi, you know that if you do not command the dinosaur otherwise, it will attack the vrock, who is currently in range, given the dinosaur's reach.

Wincing at the attack, Lisi raises his shield and makes a pointed gesture with his other hand. A tiny bead of incandescence streaks towards the vrock...

Fireball: 6d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 3, 1, 1, 2) = 14

Lisi grunts to the mokele-mbembe. "We need that thing to die."

Actions: Raise a Shield, Fireball

Lisi, you don't have enough actions to raise a shield, because you need to spend one hanging on. As for the fireball, the vrock rolled a one which I am going to always treat as a critical fail with foes (subject to me changing that homerule in the future if I decide).

As Lisi gestures to generate a fireball, the vrock lashes out twice (a special ability) with its talons.

GM Rolls:

vrock reflex save: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (1) + 18 = 19
talon: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (10) + 19 = 29
talon: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (2) + 19 = 21
damage: 2d6 + 8 + 1d6 ⇒ (1, 2) + 8 + (3) = 14

The vrock tears into Lisi's arm (for 11 points of slashing damage, and 3 points of evil damage), but the spell is not disrupted. The fireball explodes directly above the creature (but far enough from Lisi, of course) -- the demon was perhaps too overly focused on its attack to dodge effectively (28 points fire damage).

The mokele-mbembe whips its head around on its long neck and twice snaps at the vrock with its powerful jaws. It then tries to strike the demon with its long tail.

GM Rolls:

jaws: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (1) + 22 = 23
damage: 2d12 + 10 ⇒ (8, 6) + 10 = 24
jaws: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (1) + 17 = 18
damage: 2d12 + 10 ⇒ (9, 11) + 10 = 30
tail: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (9) + 14 = 23
damage: 2d6 + 10 ⇒ (3, 4) + 10 = 17

Unfortunately, none of the attacks connect with the treacherous creature.

Enraged, and hovering just ten feet above Lisi, the vrock begins a disturbing dancing and chanting in midair and then electricity explodes around it, engulfing Lisi and the mokele-mbembe. (15 points electricity damage with a DC 28 basic Reflex save.) Lisi feels the mokele-mbembe under him shudder in pain and terror.

GM Rolls:

damage: 2d12 ⇒ (12, 3) = 15
dino reflex: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (2) + 15 = 17

The staff wielding boggards look around for the cause of the explosion and at least one of them spots Yasami and starts croaking loudly and pointing in her direction. All of them gesture and chant and their staves grow vines and leaves, brimming with primal energy.

Catalina, the Charau-ka butchers, the Sabosan, Caiten, and the Charau-ka warriors are up!

Caiten watches with emotionless calculation as Lisi battles the Vrock. He makes special note of the quick reactions that the creature has - punishing any lapse in attention such as from spellcasting. He also watches for signs that Lisi is in serious danger and decides that the time has arrived when the Vrock releases an electric pulse.

Delay Consequence

With a quick twisting motion of his free hand, Caiten rewires the flow of time itself. Lisi remembers the pain of the electricity burning through him, but cannot feel it now. Lisi will still need to roll the save against the electric blast, but won't apply the damage until the start of the Vrock's next turn. The dinosaur is not protected though.

"Take caution, Lisi," Caiten shouts to him. "That event has happened. I can't hold the moment at bay for long. But long enough for this."

Pistol damage, piercing/bludgeoning, weakness 5 (EV), implement empowerment: 2d6 + 5 + 4 ⇒ (6, 5) + 5 + 4 = 20

Actions: Stride x2 (difficult terrain), Strike. If it isn't difficult terrain, she would have reloaded as her last action.

Catalina, the last square wasn't difficult, so you had time to reload.

Caiten, displaying his confidence in Lisi's ability to prevent the mokele-mbembe from harming the party, lingers near the reptile's feet, disrupting the flow of time around Lisi as the lighting rains down, and healing the druid and offering inspiration to Dario.

Catalina steps to the edge of the clearing and fires at the vrock, but the demon hears the blast and tips its wing to the side and avoids impact.

The sabosan finally emerges from its slumber and launches itself from its nest in the direction of the combat.

The charau-ka next to Cev ineffectively flails at him with a hatchet. A second emerges from the mine, sees Cev, and charges him in a shrieking frenzy. This second one connects with a hatchet for 8 points of slashing damage. The charau-ka licks Cev's blood off the hatchet and Cev looks down to about his waist level and sees a frenzied look in the primate's eyes. The charau-ka are small creatures.

GM Rolls:

hatchet: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18

hatchet: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25
hatchet damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8

The four trident wielding charau-ka all start whoooping and shrieking wildy and charge at Cev across the open terrain far faster than the elf would have expected. Cev perhaps wonders how he found himself being surrounded by a group of mad monkeys. But the trident-wielding charau-ka looks especially fierce, and three more are on their way.

A large number (over 10) of naked hatchet wielding charau-ka come running out the bunkhouse, looking around in panic but seemingly failing to spot Yasami. One of the staff-wielding boggards finally gets their attention and points in Yasami's direction in its croaking common.

Yasami, Oren, Hezle, Dario, Cev, and boggard warriors are up!

One club wielding boggard emerges from the mine and moves towards Cev, much more slowly than the charau-ka.

Oren rushes one of the trident-wielding charau-ka and delivers a crushing blow. Including flanking bonus, that's +10 critical hit, so 44 points of damage! The charau-ka cries out in pain and surprise and turns to face Oren. It has a huge oozing dent in its back, but it's apparently much tougher to kill than the hatchet-wielders.

Lisi is surprised by the Vrock's dance and too disturbed and mesmerized to dodge effectively. That's a -10 critical fail, so the damage is 30 points!

Despite the large number of boggards and charau-ka bearing down on her, Yasami decides to stay and fight, tucking herself behind a tree trunk to defend against ranged attacks.

Dario's shot at the vrock fails to penetrate its tough hide, but his attack on the prone charau-ka lands true, adding a hole in its chest to the dent in its back. Although it has lost a lot of blood, it looks up at Oren and Dario with fury in its eyes.

Lisi and the mokele-mbembe:

Lisi wisely concludes being atop the mokele-mbembe made him too much of an attractive target to the vrock, and he allows himself to tumble off the reptile, while being careful not to leave an opening for the vrock to attack in a moment of distraction (step action). He falls to the ground at a safely moderate pace, landing on his feet. He begins chanting and gesturing first at the earth and then at the vrock, trying to bring the bird demon to ground.

GM Rolls:

fortitude save: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (1) + 21 = 22

The vrock at first seems ready to laugh, but then what seems like it must be an expression of surprise crosses its ugly face as it finds itself drawn to the ground.

The mokele-mbembe takes the opportunity to attempt to bite and stomp on and tail-whack the demon suddenly at its side. Although the foot and tail fail to break through the creature's defenses, the reptile chomps on the vrock's wing for 17 points of damage.

GM Rolls:

bite: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (13) + 22 = 35
damage: 2d12 + 10 ⇒ (6, 1) + 10 = 17
foot: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (6) + 17 = 23
foot: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (5) + 14 = 19

The vrock:

The vrock, enraged to find itself pulled to the earth, lopes around the mokele-mbembe and emits a furious and shrill screech, making promises of retribution in abyssal. Everyone but Dario and Oren must attempt a DC 28 Fortitude save. On a failure, you are stunned 2, and on a critical failure, you are stunned 3.

GM Rolls:

dino save: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (8) + 21 = 29

The mokele-mbembe shudders at the sound, shaking the ground around it, but it otherwise seems unaffected.

The vrock then emits a cloud of rust-red spores from its body.

GM Rolls:

spores: 2d8 ⇒ (8, 6) = 14
dino save: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (16) + 21 = 37
spore repeat: 1d6 ⇒ 5

The spores deal 14 points of poison damage to Cev, Lisi, and the mokele-mbembe. Each of you must also succeed at a DC 28 Fortitude save or take 2d8 persistent piercing damage as the spores penetrate your skin and grow into thick, green vines. The mokele-mbembe appears unaffected by the lingering impact of the spores.

The vrock laughs in malicious pleasure.

In the meantime, three of the boggard swampseers move to engage with Yasami.

One moves at a lumbering pace across the open ground. Halfway there, it unleashes a terrifying croak. Yasami becomes frightened 1 unless she succeeds at a DC 19 Will save. A second approaches from the right and swings at her with its magically massive staff, striking her for 11 points of damage (against AC 24). A third approaches from further to the right, makes a massive (perhaps magically aided) jump to land 10 feet away, and then strikes out at her with its slimy tongue. It misses miserably (against AC 28), and its tongue strikes the tree with a wet thwack.

GM Rolls:

staff: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (20) + 13 = 33
damage: 2d4 + 6 ⇒ (4, 1) + 6 = 11
tongue: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11

As the boggards approach from the right, they yell out to the naked charau-ka to join the attack, croaking "Ggget hherr!", pointing in her direction with their staffs.

The other three staff-wielding boggards move North in the direction of the rest of the combat.

Catalina, the Charau-ka butchers, the Sabosan, Caiten, and the Charau-ka warriors can post! Please remember all the required saving throws.

trident attack: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12
trident damage: 2d8 + 10 ⇒ (5, 7) + 10 = 22

Two other charau-ka butchers, also with crazed expressions, run up to Oren and attack with their tridents, one flanking with the boggard warrior. The first jabs its trident into Oren's thigh for 26 points of damage and, as Oren is distracted by the waggling tongue of the boggard next to him, the second thrusts its trident deep into Oren's side, for 44 points of damage another critical hit!.

GM Rolls:

trident attack: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (9) + 17 = 26
trident damage: 2d8 + 10 ⇒ (6, 8) + 10 = 24
trident attack: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (16) + 19 = 35
trident damage: 2d8 + 10 ⇒ (8, 4) + 10 = 22

Oren is also suffering from 1d4 persistent bleed from both of the trident strikes, but I believe those do not stack? The prone charau-ka licks blood from his trident and offers Oren a deranged smile. Some kind of a reaction? Oren collapses, unconscious, under the ferocious assault.

A fourth crazed-looking butcher joins the crowd around Oren but does not attack, having arrived from further away. Two of the hatchet-wielding charau-ka join the fray and almost complete the circle around the barbarian. It appears the last three arrivals were unaware of Oren's collapse. The last two thwack at Oren with their hatchets but are unable to penetrate his armor.

GM Rolls:

hatchet attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (9) + 9 = 18
trident damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
hatchet attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10
trident damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8

Oren is dying 1 and we will need a recovery check.

More hatchet-wielding charau-ka emerge from the mine, two of whom screech and run towards Dario and Caiten...

I forgot to add the boggard warriors to the initiative but they will go at the end.

In the meantime, to the South...

Yes, you're right it is a crit for 22 points of damage.

The naked charau-ka all screech and charge into the jungle, surrounding Yasami, and two climb a nearby tree and others look poised to climb another tree.

Most of the charau-ka expended their actions in running to reach Yasami, but one climbed a tree quickly enough to throw a rock at her, but it harmlessly bounces off a branch and doesn't reach her.

GM Rolls:

thrown debris: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16

Yasami, Oren, Hezle, Dario, Cev, and the boggard warriors are up. We still need two fort saves each from Cev and Lisi.

As Caiten said, the persistent damage happens at the end of your next turn and you should roll. And then you can also (for free) roll a d20 against DC 15 to stop taking damage.

Lisi is knocked almost senseless by the screech and is horrified to see vines growing out of his exposed skin.

Dario barely fails to pierce the vrock's tough hide. He does, however, strike the charau-ka running at him, who in its frenzy seems to barely notice the gaping wound in its shoulder.

A boggard warrior moves up to Dario and twice strikes at him with a club, missing twice.

Hezle, unnoticed by most of you, continues her slow move around the mine.

That's a success, and they have no AoOs. I moved Yasami. It was slow getting out of the jungle because you could only move sideways (being up against a tree) and then had to move through some more difficult terrain, but Yasami still made it pretty far. Feel free to change the move.

FORT2: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (19) + 11 = 30

Time stops for Cev as he realizes the desperate situation the group, and particular himself and Lisi, find themselves in, and his trained mind plays out all of the scenarios. He can try to carefully drag himself and Lisi back a few feet, but that will leave both of them vulnerable to the vrock's vicious attacks, and Cev can tell that Lisi is too stunned to make a careful retreat to safety on his own before the vrock attacks. in game terms, even if Cev moves them back a short ways, they will still be in the vrock's reach and subject to the vrock's AoO and Lisi only has one action and could only take a step and not a full stride to safety.

Cev realizes the only option that will guarantee safety for Lisi is if Cev can distract the vrock and draw an attack. That is, use the vrock's AoO so Lisi can use his one action to stride to the relative safety of the jungle. But Cev looks at the vrock's blood soaked claws and knows there's a strong likelihood that the vrock will strike him down, maybe even with a single strike. Cev has 35 HP; given the vrock's to hit, the likelihood of a critical hit is high.

Cev thinks to himself, Yuelral brought me to these people to use all of my abilities to aid them in their journey. And, most fundamentally, he realizes that he can save Lisi even if it means sacrificing himself. If he fails to do so he will be responsible for the harm done to Lisi through his inaction. That realization makes Cev's path clear.

Cev is going to cast ray of frost to draw an AoO. He knows it will be hard to hit and the spell may be disrupted. If he survives the AoO, he will lay on hands, knowing that the vrock cannot disrupt it.

Cev looks the vrock in the eye and says in a steely voice in his deity's tongue, "You may kill me here today, but you will not kill my friend and you will not prevail." Although Cev doubts the vrock speaks elven, Cev has no doubt the vrock understands his general meaning.

With that, Cev makes the gestures in the air to generate a blast of freezing air, and gets ready to make the incantation that will deliver the spell...

GM Rolls:

Vrock claw AoO: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (15) + 21 = 36
claw damage: 3d6 + 9 + 1d6 ⇒ (5, 3, 5) + 9 + (5) = 27

... but the vrock lashes out with a claw as Cev gestures, slicing the champion's throat, interrupting his words and sending a spray of blood on both the vrock and Lisi. Critical hit for 54 points of damage.

As Cev sees the vrock react to his gestures, and before he speaks the words for the spell, he glances at Lisi will an expression of transcendent calm and mouths clearly "RUN!"

As the champion lays on the ground, spores continue to pierce through his skin and grow into thick vines. Cev is at dying 2, due to taking the persistent damage while dying 1. I'm again ignoring the rule about a critical hit taking a character to dying 2 immediately.

Roll to stop persistent damage: 1d20 ⇒ 10 Cev will probably end up needing to use all his hero points to stabilize as Oren did, but let's see.

Damage was actually 50 because vrock is enfeebled 2.

Lisi and the Mokele-Mbembe are up!

The mokele-mbembe appears extremely agitated, both from all of the vrock's actions (the dance/electricity, the screech, the spores) and from seeing its apparent tormenters (the charau-ka) appear close by. It seems liberated without Lisi whispering in its ear (so to speak), and the huge reptile goes on a rampage, trampling the vrock and then heading down and trampling two charau-ka warriors and two butchers.

The mokele-mbembe deals trample damage: 2d8 + 10 ⇒ (7, 1) + 10 = 18 points of damage, and the trampled creatures can attempt DC 28 basic Reflex saves.

GM Rolls:

Vrock reflex: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (12) + 18 = 30

butcher 1 reflex: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (7) + 12 = 19
butcher 2 reflex: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (10) + 12 = 22

The vrock takes 9 points of damage and all of the charau-ka take 18 points of damage This kills one of the warrior and gravely injures another and causes a generalized panic among the charau-ka.

Lisi is up!

The vrock, which had periodically shot wicked glances at Caiten, makes a short hop to get in range, stretches out its long neck, and rips a chunk of flesh off the android's arm with its beak, for 31 points of damage, 5 of which are evil.

The vrock swallows the piece of Caiten's arm without chewing and addresses him in abyssal, roughly translating to "puny mortal, and you thought you could challenge me," but much more rageful in the original tongue.
