No. You read my post correctly. I miswrote my entire post, transposing green and red in every instance.
green > red meant "target is green if valid, else target is red"
But I should have written (red), (red > green), (green). All my fault. Don't worry. :)

An easily overlooked rule that I missed back when I made my -2001:
Support wrote: Your animal companion supports you. You gain the benefits listed in the companion type’s Support Benefit entry. If the animal uses the Support action, the only other actions it can use on this turn are basic move actions to get into position to take advantage of the Support benefits; if it has already used any other action this turn, it can’t Support you. You can't Strike and Support in the same turn.

We flipped pages and it's been a minute, but Octogon would have provoked Zaighar's AOO with an attack roll total of 20 for 7 bludgeoning and magic damage.
