After a couple of bad days things got so severe I had to go o the GP. It seems I have something called a Atrial flutter.
Take it from me it is very unpleasant. I tried doing my weekly grocery shopping and nearly passed out, which lead to me seeing my Doctor.
So I'm flat on my back and very tired at the moment. I'll keep you updated as to how I'm doing and when it looks like I can return.
Rest as much as you can. Definitely not something to mess around with. We'll be here. Health comes first.

An update for everyone.
After getting home I received a call from my Doctor saying that the blood tests had shown possible heart damage. Could I get to the emergency dept of Wellington hospital to get it checked?
I went in and was given the full barrage of tests. It took a couple of days. It seems it's not a heart attack as first feared thankfully, but the Atrial flutter is playing havoc with my pulse rate. A resting pulse of 120 - 300 isn't good.
The solution is giving me an electric shock to the heart to reset it. So I'm at home again on a lot of medication, Waiting for a slot to open up so I can be treated.
it seems my family has a history of this problem. My mother has it and my brother had to be treated twice as he suffered from Atrial fibrillation
The medication I'm on seems to be working thankfully. I'm a lot more relaxed and comfortable. A few more days of the medication calming things down and I should be back to posting.

Also Nurses and Doctors are overworked and underpaid. Shove all the empty praise and pay them what they are worth!
Hope you start to feel better soon GM. AFl can be really unpleasant so I hope they can get you cardioverted sooner rather than later.

Turns out I was overly optimistic about adjusting to a new regime of medication. It's taken me a week to get it sorted in a way that doesn't leave me a zombie.
I've spent most of last week napping and lacking any energy to do anything.
Happily I'm feeling better and regaining my energy after working out what pills to take with each other, and when to take them. I'll start posting again tomorrow. I have a few things to catch up on.

My Mother had a Hip replacement operation on the 2nd this month. Thursday she had a nasty problem with her medication while recovering at home.
She went into hospital and got things fixed by Saturday thankfully. She's back at home and getting used to her new hip again.

The procedure worked well.
It's called a Cardioversion. They slapped sticky pads over my chest. Hooked them up to wires, and gave me lots of nice sedatives. I was waiting for the electric shock and was confused when they started removing all the wires?
"Is something wrong?" I ask. "No. it's done. Worked perfectly!"
So I didn't even notice the procedure taking place. I was a little sore and ached a bit after the sedative wore off, but have been fine since then.
Heart beat is steady now and I'm having less problems walking or standing up for too long. So I'm very relieved.

Good news. I did a few cardioversions as a junior and it looked pretty uncomfortable, so I'm glad you barely noticed.
My PC just died so I may be slow. Bot as needed.

No update due to an appointment at Cardiology for a checkup after my Cardioversion.
No problems, looks to be going well, but lots of time having to wait.
Totally understand. My wife had an Iron infusion today. Medical stuff is alway VERY time consuming.

Apologies for my silence. The number of pills I'm currently taking has caused my acid reflux to flare up again.
I tried reducing the number of anti-inflammatories I was taking but that left me in a great deal of discomfort.
After consulting with my Doctor the anti-inflammatories have been changed and things seem to be settling down enough for me to be able to sleep properly again.
So hopefully things will settle down and regular posting can resume.
