As some of you may remember I'm on anti-inflammatories due to severe arthritis.
Last year this caused me a lot of trouble when the anti-inflammatories started eating through my stomach lining, causing pain and acid-reflux.
My Doctor changed my medication and after a period of adjustment things seemed to have settled.
Over the last couple of months I had increasing abdominal pain, and worse blood in my stool.
So I'm off anti-inflammatories completely, and on medication to try and restore my internal linings.
Internally things seem to be slowly improving, however with only paracetamol as a pain killer things are much more unpleasant. Currently my main activity is finding a comfortable position to lay in while hoping the painkillers finally do something.
The arthritis is in my shoulders, hips and knees. So moving is awkward and painful. It's a family trait sadly.
Hopefully my internal linings will recover and I can get some form of anti-inflammatory. I've been using them for 15 or so years to be mobile and being off them is crippling for me.
*I am not giving up running my games. I will hopefully be adjusted, or find a working painkiller to be more active soon!

I'm so sorry. It sucks that medically it's often the case that the solution to one issue is the cause of another.

That sounds truly miserable GM, I hope things improve for you soon.
NSAIDs are good at what they do but some of the side effects of long term use can be really unpleasant. Hopefully your side effects settle and you can get the pain under control again.

Sorry to report there has been no improvement.
The cold weather down here is really hammering my arthritis. It doesn't matter how warm I keep it inside my home. The temperature drops and my joints ache.
Coming to the end of winter so hopefully things will warm up a little. Wellington is a harbor city, on a strait and close to Antarctica so the wind chill is nasty.
I hope to get things moving again soon.

I'm just now starting to recognize this effect on my leg. The break location was aching the other day big-time, and sure enough, a thunderstorm rolled in that night. It took me until the next day to put two-and-two together, but I'm confident now that that was it. In my case it was barometric pressure, and yours temperature, but it's all the same; the weather definitely stresses these weaknesses in our bodies!

Some good news for a change. It seems that one of my internal problems was caused by having to go through two heavy anti-biotic regimes thanks to the Cellulitis I had this year.
This stripped out my stomachs good bacteria leaving me suffering due to the anti-inflammatories I'm taking.
I've been on a course of pro-biotics which have made a difference. My internal discomfort is mostly gone now.
I still have the arthritis pain, but with one source of discomfort removed the pain-killers are working more effectively.
I will start updating again in a day or two when things are settled a bit more for me.
Thanks for your patience everybody.

Last week was an 'interesting' one for me .
After seeing my Doctor about the continual internal discomfort despite not using anti-inflammatories for two months now I was sent to have a blood test.
The day after the blood test my Doctor called me to tell me I was Anemic. Which provided the reason for my lack of energy, shortness of breath and other complaints.
She grilled me as to any blood in my stool, urine, or if I was vomiting blood. The concern being internal bleeding causing my problems. So I now awaiting an appointment for a Colonoscopy & Endoscopy.
No news yet as to when I will be able to get on the list for these procedures.
She also prescribed iron tablets for me. I've been using these for the last two days and I do see a lot of improvement thankfully. More energy and a reduction in discomfort.
So I will be returning to regular posting in a day or two if my improvement continues.
Thanks for your patience.

I'm going in for a couple of procedures on Wednesday. Today I am preparing for those procedures. These are a Colonoscopy and a Gastroendoscopy. Preparations are very unpleasant. :)
Hopefully this will find the source of my internal problems and get a solution sorted.
So no update today or tomorrow. I hope by Thursday I will have recovered.

The procedures went well. The prep is indeed the worst part.
Nothing wrong with my stomach, a couple of minor problems in my colon which were quickly and painlessly fixed there and then. Sadly no sign of what could be causing my anemia? So more tests I guess.
I did have to stop taking the iron tablets 5 days before the procedure and it was very noticeable how much I need them. Back on them now and feeling slightly better.
I'm taking today off to recover as flushing your insides out the cameras get a clear view does throw you off. :)

            Hello everybody,
I'm John and Ariadne contacted me about your group wanting another player. I've been in a few games with... heck, as I look through aliases, most of you it seems. Kayleigh, Ariadne, Vedika, and GM_DBH!
I messaged gm_dbh about joining and they said to go ahead and make a character (an activity I can happily fall into). While I've been leaning toward a melee-focused blacksmithing alchemist, I wanted to check with you all to see what you want/need. Cause I never ever mind making/remaking characters.
Thanks.

Hey John! Long time no see!
I remember Sara the royal baker, who provided me with my finest moment in my years on these forums: When Sara was snatched by a giant catfish and my swashbuckler (Capricia) scored a very timely crit to keep things from going south fast.
Welcome to the game! For your character, I'll give my usual advice: Play something you'll enjoy. Kayleigh's got healing covered, and is a decent face for Diplomacy and Sense Motive (though not at Iorghil's level). Though I tweaked her a bit to make her a bit better in combat, adding another PC who's able to go toe-to-toe with enemies sounds good to me.

Another melee person would be good, and I can see an alchemist coming in very handy, depending on what your focus is. Honestly, go with whatever you think you'd enjoy.

Sorry for going silent. My Mother had to go into hospital yesterday for what looked like another TIA.
She checked herself in mainly as a precaution due to changes in her medication leaving her feeling weak on her right side.
Seems to just be a reaction to the changes and she's on her way home again.
I'll catch up tomorrow.

            Bad news I'm afraid.
Thursday Mum had a massive stroke and is not expected to make it.
She's in hospital on oxygen and unresponsive.
I'll be there for her and there will be no updates for a while.
I'll let you know when posting will resume.
I lost my Father in 2021 the week before Christmas, now my Mother. This time of year seems to be cursed.
