I'm back from Mexico (24 hours later than planned thanks to a cancelled flight) but I'm on holiday in Turkey next week on a long-postponed trip that should have happened in Spring 2020 but, well, you know...

I doubt I'll be able to post as it's a holiday with the kids and in-laws so please bot me as needed and I'll return (again) on June 5th.

There are over 200 posts in Gameplay, so it will be quite a bit to catch up there, but I was hoping there might still be a spot for me here.

It looks like Gameplay is the wind-down for stuff I didn't participate in, so I'll pass on making any posts related to that, and resume driving Ghil after the holiday on Tuesday with a leveled up PC. Sound good?

Other than the 1000 gp we all just got, is there any other loot payouts that Ghil missed?

With a -1 to Diplomacy I doubt anyone wants me trying. I'll likely do more harm than good.

There's no penalty for failure on an aid another check with any skill. You literally can't hurt things; you can only fail to help things.

So if we take them up on the offer to play knivesies, who are we sending?

Most of us are about the same with a dagger as far as attacks go, though Nethen's better than the rest of us.

I have the best AC.

Assuming that they'd frown upon spellcasting while playing the game, Nethen's probably the best of us in a straight up hand to hand fight, me buffing myself would be pretty obvious.

There's also the fact that Vedika could theoretically do the most damage if feinting, or anything else that catches the opponent flat-footed.

Any thoughts?

Well, if I get really lucky, I could poison the knife and then put the opponent to sleep. But I would have to get the knife, poison it, hit, and then the enemy would have to fail the save. Long odds.

I don't think anyone of us is better than the others. I'm probably slightly better with a dagger, and I've got a reasonable CMB for manoeuvres if needed.

I was looking at attack bonus/AC/any relevant class features that might help.

Looking at the rules for Knivesies, it looks like a mage hand spell (or something similar) could knock a coin off the table to force an end the challenge when we think Nethen has more coins. It would have to be done carefully to avoid notice, of course.

Ghil doesn't have anything like that, unfortunately. Anybody else?

Kayleigh's too much of a Goody Two-Shoes to participate in anything underhanded here (plus, she can't cast mage hand). If some semblance of magic is allowed, though, she could cast guidance or shield of faith on our champion.

A couple of quick questions about knivesies:

1) Is some sort of roll required to toss a gold piece onto the tabletop? (Related: Can you toss more than one coin? If you side with the winner and have bet 2 gold, do you get a double share of the bettors' purse?)

2) What happens to coins that don't stay on the table? Are they still part of the purses or do they go to Devargo?

Yeah it was more thinking along the lines of if magic was allowed, I'd mage hand the dagger into my hands 1st round, then use spell combat to make attacks whil3 mage handing coins into my pouch.

On a side note the magus class is definitely where they started putting a lot of thought into action economy

I played COTCT back in the old days of 3.5, my character was the fighter who got on the table. Having Improved unarmed strike made this easy, she beat the other guy unconscious for the win.

"Your opponent grabs the dagger." "I kick him in the face while he's bent over!"

If you want to cast spells you need to be discrete doing them. A quiet mutter and then a pat on Nethen's shoulder won't draw complaints. :)
