Ghil has a hex from his spirit that allows him to jester's jaunt someone as a standard action. He can do it as many times as he wants a day, but only once per person in 24 hours. I see this as benefiting Vedika most often (as he can pop her into flanking for sneak attack), but there will be situations where it could be useful for anyone. I'll obviously be looking out for opportunities, but if you ever see a situation where you'd like to be moved like this, raise the flag and let me know!

So, given Ghil's misstep here at the start, I should ask for advice. Are there feats, items, or abilities that let you conceal spellcasting? I think the bartender would have known about the charm anyway because it failed, but it would be nice to be able to cast surreptitiously when needed.

Is it just as a simple as Bluff or Sleight of Hand, or is it more involved than that?

If you want to do it without increasing the spell level, you could try the conceal spell feat. It's not perfect, but it's fairly thematic.

Conceal Spell is about as good as it gets, and it's fairly involved and doesn't totally conceal spells as all spells and spell-like abilities come with a nebulous sort of visible magical effect. Might be worth considering though, it's pretty cool.

Honestly, short of selecting still spell and silent spell to eliminate the somatic and verbal components (even then you'll still have the visual that comes with magic) Conceal spell and Improved Conceal spell are your best bets.

@Everyone, how shall we handle this fight from here? It seems we're outnumbered by enemies who hit significantly harder than us. Purple has taken dome damage, as well as one of the ones Nethen is fighting. However, they hit much, much harder than I can heal, and on average two shot each of us except for Nethen. This can go south really really fast and kind of already has with the crit on Vedika. I'm not sure this fight can be won by attacking the thugs, though I guess it depends on how much HP they have.

If I can, my plan next turn is to grapple him, putting my blade to his neck and telling his thugs to stand down. Then you talky types convince him we just want to talk and calm things down a bit.

Barring that, I'll wade in against the bruisers give them a taste of their own medicine if the dice see fit.

One goes straight up to him and tells him you're after him. One heads over and tries to charm the barman. one palms a weapon and stands there.

Without wanting to be too critical it wasn't a dazzling display. :)

@Iorghil & Eric. Thanks. I've been in games where the GM just vanishes and it's always a worry. Have they gone for good, are they just sick?

Yeah I definitely wasn't expecting the open attempt at mind control magic either but it fits a group who aren't used to working together yet.

Yeah, my idea was to keep the staff out of it, but in retrospect that was probably not even a problem in the first place.

But really, unless you take the extreme measures of Conceal Spell (I call it extreme because it requires another feat to get it), aren't all mind control spells "open attempts?"

That's because palming a weapon with sleight of hand is a standard action, and I didn't want to move up into melee range before I could make an attack.

And I just realized that Ghil, through the Intrigue Mystery, has a Revelation available that would give him Conceal Spell for free (without needing to meet the prerequisites). Due to trading Revelations away through his archetype, and the need to take a different feat at 5th level, he won't be able to get that until 7th level through an Extra Revelation feat, but that may now be my plan.

So with everyone taking what they listed, the weapons and armor come to total value of 6,221. Sold at 50% value 3,110g 5s
