Jenise grimaces at the narrow walkway, clearly designed for much smaller people than humans. She can probably make it if she's careful, though. The sorceress gingerly picks her way across after Zuriel.

"Nighttail, think you can talk to those slingers over there and reassure them that we don't want to hurt them? We're just here for the chief."

Nightail speaks for a moment in draconic the slingers still seem afraid but look on with a bit more curiosity than before. A couple chirp back in an excited manner. “I told them! A couple don’t like the chief either so we should be ok! They might just be scared to see people here.”

The hole looks easily 10 feet deep, and it’s easily negotiated by Zuriel. Sneaking down he looks through the dim light, seeing crude idol stands in the middle of the cave, decorated with grisly strips of dried viscera. He sees next to it are two skeletons that look to be kneeling before it and a kobold speaking softly to himself as he stands before it.

In this statement one of the skeletons attacks Zuriel. The attack rolls then state August Hit for (1) and Jenis attacked and missed do to mage armor. So, my question is this. Was one of those attacks meant for Zuriel?

I didn’t include modifiers in those rolls, it would be +2 for both attack and damage respectively. As for the statements I had a misstype, it would be at Jenise who was attacked. Zuriel was left alone no longer posing a threat. Sorry for any confusion.

Moment after sharing that insight, he picks up one of the potions and slides that into a pouch.

Finally, it comes to a rest next to a nearby ridge. Zuriel quickly walks over and scoops it up. "It's heads! Looks like fate is sending us to the right. You lead the way August and well follow."

After a moment of uncomfortable silence, Zuriel gets an irritated look on his face and then points to the passage on the right. "That way."

Jenise turns her head to hide her smile, pretending to check the safety on her crossbow. "Right sounds as good as any other way." She casts a quick light spell on August's shield and follows behind him.

"Okay. Right path it is." the paladin agrees. He twiddles the fingers on both of his hands in turn, recalling which one was right. Then he secures his shield, grabs his sword, and starts marching into cave by his sword-hand.

Entering into the next room you see a small sloping downward cave, in the middle is a flat area made from what look to be rock. Oh he place is relatively plain except for the back wall which has a mural on it of several kobolds in a deep red color which can surmised to be blood of what it’s hard to tell. Between the rock on the wall a crag opens beckoning onward.

Nighttail smirks saying quietly “I told ya” as you reach the room.

Jenise gives the elf a skeptical look. "Are you really going to rely on him to spot traps? No offense, August, but I've got the impression that that kind of thing isn't your strength." Not waiting for an answer, the sorceress cautiously moves forward to take a look.

I just made a minor adjustment to accomodate my Oracle Curse. I swapped a trait for Rich Parents so I could afford noble's clothes and jewelry. It fits his backstory, but I know some GMs dislike the Rich Parents trait (despite the advantage of starting wealth dropping off dramatically after a few levels).

Spending a trait for a little bit of extra gold isn’t game breaking and with your use, it’s specifically not mechanically relevant. Very flavorful and awesome though, so I see no problem.

for those that might be still working just a reminder that I’ll close this down and begin the process of deciding tomorrow morning 8am EST. If you need an extension for a specific circumstance feel free to to PM me.

To those that have applied: Thank you for the applications, I’m excited to get going! I’m most likely going to set up a quick Roll20 game over the weekend that will serve as a hub of sorts for maps, handouts and anything else deemed important that way it’s all there for ease of access. It is free so don’t worry about money, though a word of caution that using it on mobile can be a pain.

Ah, darn. I'll withdraw in that case. I can't do roll20 at work, and in general am just not a fan.

Thanks and have a nice game. :)

No problem! Sorry for the late notice, best of luck!

Racial Abilities:

Rock Climber: Half-orcs from mountainous regions are excellent climbers, and sometimes ambush prey by leaping down from above. Half-orcs with this racial trait gain a +1 racial bonus on Acrobatics and Climb checks. This racial trait replaces the intimidating trait.
Sacred Tattoos: Many half-orcs decorate themselves with tattoos, piercings, and ritual scarification, which they consider sacred markings. Half-orcs with this racial trait gain a +1 luck bonus on all saving throws. This racial trait replaces orc ferocity.
Skilled: Second- and third-generation half-orcs often favor their human heritage more than their orc heritage. Half-orcs with this trait gain 1 additional skill rank per level. This racial trait replaces darkvision.
Weapon Familiarity: Half-orcs are proficient with greataxes and falchions and treat any weapon with the word “orc” in its name as a martial weapon.
Orc Blood: Half-orcs count as both humans and orcs for any effect related to race.

Class Abilities:

Spells: I can cast spells using Wisdom.
Eat Sin: At 1st level, as a free action, when the sin eater inquisitor kills an enemy, she may eat the sins of that enemy by spending 1 minute adjacent to its corpse. This provokes attacks of opportunity. The inquisitor can rush this ritual, performing it as a full-round action that provokes attacks of opportunity, but she only gains half the normal benefit (see below).
Eating the enemy’s sins heals the inquisitor of a number of hit points of damage equal to 1d8 + her inquisitor level (maximum +5). The enemy must have been killed by the sin eater within the last hour, and it must have had at least as many Hit Dice as half the inquisitor’s level. The inquisitor can use this ability once for each enemy she kills. This ability has no effect on mindless creatures or those with Intelligence 2 or less.
At 5th level, the healing increases to 2d8 plus her inquisitor level (maximum +10); it increases to 3d8 + her inquisitor level (maximum +15) at 9th level and to 4d8 + her inquisitor level (maximum +20) at 13th level.
In some faiths, this “eating” is a purely symbolic act, while in others, the inquisitor must eat a small amount of food and water as part of the ritual. A few extreme faiths actually require the inquisitor to eat some of the body of the slain enemy.
At 8th level, when a sin eater eats the sins of a creature that would rise as an undead (such as someone slain by a shadow, spectre, or vampire), the sin eater may choose to accept 1 temporary negative level to absorb the taint in the corpse, preventing it from rising as an undead. This negative level can be removed with the appropriate magic, though it automatically expires after 24 hours, and never becomes a permanent negative level. At the GM’s discretion, this ability may prevent a ghost from using its rejuvenation ability.
This ability replaces an inquisitor’s domain.
Studied Target: At 1st level, a sanctified slayer gains the slayer’s studied target class feature. She uses her inquisitor level as her effective slayer level to determine the effects of studied target.
A slayer can study an opponent he can see as a move action. The slayer then gains a +1 bonus on Bluff, Knowledge, Perception, Sense Motive, and Survival checks attempted against that opponent, and a +1 bonus on weapon attack and damage rolls against it. The DCs of slayer class abilities against that opponent increase by 1. A slayer can only maintain these bonuses against one opponent at a time; these bonuses remain in effect until either the opponent is dead or the slayer studies a new target.
If a slayer deals sneak attack damage to a target, he can study that target as an immediate action, allowing him to apply his studied target bonuses against that target (including to the normal weapon damage roll).
At 5th, 10th, 15th, and 20th levels, the bonuses on weapon attack rolls, damage rolls, and skill checks and to slayer DCs against a studied target increase by 1. In addition, at each such interval, the slayer is able to maintain these bonuses against an additional studied target at the same time. The slayer may discard this connection to a studied target as a free action, allowing him to study another target in its place.
At 7th level, a slayer can study an opponent as a move or swift action.

Monster Lore: The inquisitor adds her Wisdom modifier on Knowledge skill checks in addition to her Intelligence modifier, when making skill checks to identify the abilities and weaknesses of creatures.
Orisons: I have cantrips.
Stern Gaze: Inquisitors are skilled at sensing deception and intimidating their foes. An inquisitor receives a morale bonus on all Intimidate and Sense Motive checks equal to 1/2 her inquisitor level (minimum +1).

Traits
Fate’s Favored (Faith): Double Luck Bonuses.
Reactionary: +2 to Initiative

Feats:
Dodge: +1 Dodge Bonus to AC

Here is his

Backstory:
Lorgar was an orphan raised by the church of Pharasma. Although he was more human looking than many half-orcs, he still felt heavily judged for his ancestors. He showed a martial bent and signs of wisdom so the church trained him to be an inquisitor. But he did not enjoy judging others as he felt that only Pharasma could truly judge the good and bad within a being's soul. Instead he studied ways to find those who might find themselves judged poorly by Pharasma and cleanse their souls of some of those sins before they went onto their final judgement.
When he came of age Lorgar set out to find those who were weighing down their souls with their sins in order to eat their sins as the books of Pharasma spoke of while also working to stop them from continuing to take actions which would make Pharasma judge them harshly.
.

With that, I’m going to start deciding. I have the following as the final applicants.

Have a great game!

Thanks for the invite. I have attempted to post in the discussion thread twice and for some reason its not populating. At least not on my end anyway.

Have a great game.

I recreated the discussion thread, seems oddly to have not been working should work now.

Liberty's Edge

Oh, nice! Thanks for the invitation. I'll create a proper alias soon.

(I also had an issue posting in the recruitment thread yesterday - so maybe it was a more general issue with the boards?)

Hello all, currently down two players. We are level 2 and looking to recruit one to make up for lost players. With the party consisting of a Paladin, a rogue and a sorcerer some kind of divine caster could be quite helpful but it is not required. I’d like to get back on pace by the end of next week.

If there are any questions please let me know!

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Hi there. Waaaaaay back, I dotted for interest, but got delayed in making a character, and by that point, there were so many good submissions, I simply backed away. No harm, no foul.

But if you're once again looking, I'd absolutely be interested, and wouldn't mind at all playing a divine caster of some sort. Lemme look over your character creation rules, and do some thinking.

Dwarven Cleric submission on the way, likely sometime tomorrow.
(Jace peeks out from under the dwarf beard and waves)

I know I'm not accepted...yet. :D, but I have to figure out his hps for 2nd level to see if it affects anything I do with him.
2nd Level: 1d8 ⇒ 7

Raolf Ironknuckle, at yer service. If'n you'll have me, that is.
(Character sheet in Profile)

Will take a look, since it doesn’t seem to be a ton of interest I’ll leave it open till 0800 MDT.

Hmmm. No, not a lot of interest. Just me. Sorry I'm not what you're looking for...different tastes, and all that. No harm, no foul.

Have a good game.
Peace

I don't think the GM intended his delay to be interpreted as your not a good fit. I believe he simply wanted to give enough time for anyone else who might be interested to fairly be able to apply.

So he said in a pm, and then invited me to play...so it's all good, now.
Just a misunderstanding on my part.

In any event, thanks for reassuring me. It's appreciated.
