I can try but unless we know we want to get over there, I'd prefer not to risk it.
Angela gives a small shake of her head and decides that they can't really prove if the things are dangerous from a distance. She steps up to the area before the trap starts and sees about jamming a series of slivers of gold under the pressure plate and completely preventing it from activating.
Diable Device, Int based: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11 And that is what I was fearing would be rolled... INSPIRATION!
Inspiration: 1d6 ⇒ 3
Hopefully the DC wasn't too high. But, if this kills, AVENGE ME!

![]() |

"Um... I thought stomping around pressure plates was a bad idea?" Dawn watches the expert at work, but she has many questions about her approach...

GM Ultra Plus |

well, this turned out well for the GM. I need everyone to give me a reflex save, DC 15 for half. You're not getting full on Viserys-Targaryen-ed here, but there's a splatter of molten gold coming
First lets do some fire damage just from the heat of what's happening.
Fire Damage: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 1, 3) = 8
And the impact of the heavy gold, even above and beyond the heat is going to do some damage.
Bludgeoning: 2d6 ⇒ (6, 6) = 12.
Its one reflex save, I'm just dividing it into two rolls since some people resist fire damage.

![]() |

Reflex Save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
"Oh! I'M stepping on the plate!" Angela realizes a bit too late, and Dawn is much too giddy.
Superheated gold spews forth from underneath her, blasting her several feet into the air. "This is what people want, right? To bathe in gold?"
"It's not very fun, honestly."

![]() |

Reflex: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Golthwur is caught unaware.

![]() |

Angela, ready for a deluge of molten lava like gold to come pouring down all over her and leave a nice golden halfling skeleton behind is surprised to find the click that was Dawn stepping onto the plate only results in the central area where the golden skeleton is getting covered in gold. As it hits the newly made statue and then splatters everywhere, Angela tries to dive for cover.
Reflex save, Trap sense: 1d20 + 9 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 9 + 1 = 17
Being low to the ground makes rolling for cover from the splattering solidifying gold easier than one might expect. Coming up from behind Golthwur, Angela looks relatively untouched. "That was less deadly than I thought. Now, if I'm going to disable this thing, please STAY BACK. Dawn, I love you to pieces but if you set another trap on us like that again, there might only be pieces of you left to love!"

![]() |

reflex : 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25
“Arghh … sir Hayden… I need you to use the wand I gave you on the team!!“

![]() |

Reflex Save: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
Hayden manages to leap back to avoid most of it. He pulls out the wand Eltran gave him. "Yes, yes. I can help."
Hayden will start taking people's damage through Life Link. Then healing himself. I think that's 20 damage to Dawn and Golthwur, while everyone else took 10?

![]() |

Nisha has Fire Resistance 5, IIRC. Tiefling privilege.
"If I had a sheet of wood, I could ride it like a surf wave! Whee!"

![]() |

Angela gives a good natured shake of her head at the free-wheeling antics of Dawn. "You want to go surfing? Fine just stand riiiight here, hold onto something and DON'T MOVE! Everyone else, back, over there, unless you want a second possible gold bath."
Going to try this again, with only Angela in the splash zone (and whoever is willing to risk it.)
Disable Device: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 15

![]() |

"Don't hold the gold because it's cursed. Don't hold onto the plate because it burns... maybe there's some gold plated wood around here." Dawn looks for a door sized plank of wood and then returns to... near her original spot. Maybe gold lightning will strike twice.

GM Ultra Plus |

So before the life link, I see the HP standing as follow
Golthwur (-20)
Eltran (-10)
Hayden (-11)
Nisha (-6)
Dawn (-20)
Angela (-10)
I'd assume you'd parcel out the life link and healing and not take all 77 points of damage at once, and kill yourself, right, Hayden? And you don't need to give me another disable device check. The trap was set up like landmines are in movies. It was stepping off the pressure plate that triggered the trap.
With the eruption of gold, there's nothing left to recover from the piles.
Ready to move on?

![]() |

Yes, Hayden will generally use Life Link on a single person and be healing himself of the damage sustained, then move onto the next person.
CLW Wand: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
CLW Wand: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
CLW Wand: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
CLW Wand: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
CLW Wand: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
CLW Wand: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
CLW Wand: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
CLW Wand: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
CLW Wand: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
CLW Wand: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
After 11 charges from Etran's wand, everyone except Nisha is fully healed with her having 1hp of damage.

![]() |

Ready but at this point why don't we stop for the night and focus on getting everyone healed and spell slots back? Or do we try one more encounter?

![]() |

"I am still ready to go on but not for long to be honest!" Eltran says.

![]() |

"Oh, the well is empty..." Dawn clutches the good plated wood plank for a bit longer, but the magic is gone.
"Maybe we can take a nap. We're making a good pace so far."

![]() |

"A nap is always a fine idea." notes Golthwur. However, the man experiences an ache as he struggles to find any remotely comfortable place to lay.

![]() |

If we stop now, Hayden would have used some of his spells and LoH for healing rather than use the wand. Hayden could go for one more encounter, but others might be tapped out.

GM Ultra Plus |

I think we only have 2 votes for a rest, but I'm not sure. Kind of a hanging chad situation here.

![]() |

If we still have a few resources left, I sey let's try one last encounter and then turn in for the night. I take it we've made it to the second ring already or are we still in the first?

GM Ultra Plus |

you are in the second ring, yes.
The group presses on further.
A voice calls out, a clarion in the eerie silence of Xin-Grafar. "Lay down your arms, heretics and traitors, and we shall spare you! You are surrounded! Hundreds of Razmir’s faithful beg me to kill you—but I will spare your lives if you surrender to the Living God. Make your decision!"
Everyone make a perception check.
Someone's asked you to lay down your arms. Quick vote, yes no? Surrender to the will of the Living God?

![]() |

Perception: 1d20 + 15 + 1d6 ⇒ (9) + 15 + (2) = 26
Hundreds? Pah you barely got here with 20. Hundreds of followers would have mostly died on the surface.
"Hrmm, hundreds? Interesting... But more importantly, do you and all your followers know what is to become of this place in less than a two days? If not, take a single piece of advice and don't dwadle around here putting on grandiose statements like that."
Not going to submit unless the rest of the group does.

![]() |

Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
Hayden looks out, spotting a few of the cultists trying to hide on their flanks. "I suppose, I should give you a similar offer. The Dawnflower seeks redemption among those who have strayed. I can offer you a path should any of your followers choose it. Safety and redemption. Otherwise, her fury is one filled with flame and sword. Choose wisely." The knight lifts his winged symbol of Sarenrae.

"Ehh .. yes!! What Golthwur and Nisha and Hayden and Dawn said!!" the corpulent bard says with some insecurity in his voice.

GM Ultra Plus |

"Simple enough, Tiefling. Throw your weapons down and surrender. And if your Sarenite fool doesn't go along, beat him down with your own fists." The same clarion voice calls out.
Screwed up the spoilers. It should read as below
Another voice calls out, "And the old man. Kill that one as well. Don't like what he said."
"Alliteration is a crime against Razmir!"
"The Living God uses no alliteration in his 31 Steps!"
"Also, how can the fat one say what they said? They're all saying different things!" More voices call out from the hinterlands.
"Down with the Alliterator!"
I think Golthwur ended the possibility off trying to entreat with them more.

"Wow, I didn't know Razmiran edicts were so precise to literary devices. Sarenrae is much less strict about poetic forms." The knight calls upon the Dawnflower's favor for the group, blessing everyone.
"Look out, there are two groups to either side of us!" Hayden steps in front of Golthwur to shield the old man.
Cast Bless. +1 morale bonus for everyone to hit.

![]() |

Angela gives a shake of her head and massages her temples. I Should have known Golthwur's astounding attachment to alliteration would get us killed one day. She keeps a hold of her walking spear and frowns.
"Well if we're doing this, everyone should be well aware of the two hiding bihind that pillar over there." She says pointing to where the Orange a Blue ones are on the map.
No sneaky flat footedness from those enemies!

![]() |

"Old man!?" Golthwur responds indignantly, before turning to Sir Hayden, "Well, I never thought of you as 'old'. 'Tired and worn', perhaps. But certaingly not old."
Raising his voice once again to the Razmirans, he decrees, "If you assess alliteration as an asperation, then I have no alternative but to alter your attitude with actions all the additionally agitating!"
The wizard casts obscuring mist.
