“Ohh a machine!! How wonderful!! I know songs that hold the notes of creation and unmaking that allow me to affect constructs!!“ he says and suddenly starts to make a clicking sound with his voice and claps his hands.
Eltran has the ‘Voice of Brigh’ archetype with this ability:
Brigh’s Soothing (Su): A Voice of Brigh can use Brigh’s calming voice to pacify constructs. This functions as the fascinate bardic performance, except it can target only constructs. This replaces fascinate.
DC 18 will save or the construct is fascinated.
A fascinated creature is entranced by a supernatural or spell effect. The creature stands or sits quietly, taking no actions other than to pay attention to the fascinating effect, for as long as the effect lasts. It takes a –4 penalty on skill checks made as reactions, such as Perception checks. Any potential threat, such as a hostile creature approaching, allows the fascinated creature a new saving throw against the fascinating effect. Any obvious threat, such as someone drawing a weapon, casting a spell, or aiming a ranged weapon at the fascinated creature, automatically breaks the effect. A fascinated creature’s ally may shake it free of the spell as a standard action.
“Team, if this works then let us run!“ Eltran shouts.
If the fascinate works: As Eltran is highest in initiative, could we retcon that the group then just runs across the bridge to leave the fascinated construct alone?

Wow! Awesome that this worked. First time that I’m using it. :-) Fascinate has a range of 90 ft so I’ll perform 3 rounds and then we are out of range.
“Come on guys!!“ Eltran says in his full plate armor and continues to clap.

![]() |

Sounds good to me too, Angela is not a damage machine and this thing would probably resist almost everything she threw at it.

Golgolgoldenheim Somundane |

"What kind of respectful wizard would create a construct that doesn't respond to magical damage?!" mutters the old man as he follows the others across the bridge.
"It all seems rather irresponsible to me, Golth--" The man catches himself, quickly adding, "Were only could it be the case that all wizards were as wise as I am."

![]() |

Eltran smiles at the commoner.
“I know a wizard that is unbelievably smart and powerful and I am sure that this would never have happened to him! Maybe one day you will have the pleasure to meet him too!“ he says smiling at the others.

The city is blindingly bright. The light of the luminesent moss on the interior of the underground cavern is reflected back and forth between the golden interior of Xin-Grafar. Golthwur and Eltran recognize this as a large fire elemental. Due to its fiery nature, weapons won't be especially effective. i.e dr/- Without true anatomy, the elemental is immune to precision and flanking. Also, sleep, paralysis, bleed and stun, along with fire damage. The ape has stunning reflexes and most likely could resist most poisons, but its mind isn't as complex as humanoids. Will is its lowest save. Its melee attacks can start people on fire
Dawn slashes, using her arcane training, and deals electric damage to the creature.

Angela can confirm that the fire elemental is a fire elemental. It has a vulnerability to cold. She then uses her spear to point out areas of the non-anatomy to try to do more damage. For some reason, this works; the gods must be crazy.
Golgolgoldenheim runs away, perhaps to find a wizard. I haven't seen Golthwur post in a while, I wonder why?

The arrow fired by Sir Hayden, champion of Sarenrae, was well shot, but he failed to account for the ape being on the ground and laughing, and it sails over the fire elemental. Eltran does nothing, nothing at all. Angela's longspear has trouble affecting a beast with no discernable anatomy, but it does seem to react a little in between its gales of laughter. Golgolgoldenheim's wondrous wand wounds weakly.

GM Ultra Plus |

With every bit of determination and luck, and also hitting someone with weapons while they're peeing their pants laughing, the group is able to take down the elemental.
The group is at crossroads. Coming from the south, they can head north, east, west... they could rest for eight hours to recover spells and eldritch pool points. What happens next?
I've placed a star to indicate where you are on my lovely hand drawn map.

![]() |

"Whatever Iramine is doing, I would imagine it be at the center of the city. I don't see any reason not to try and head there as quickly as possible, do you?" Hayden points towards the northern route.
Does the map indicate that the only opening in the walls for the 2nd ring is from the north? Or do all the roads inward go through?

![]() |

Angela nods "We should definitely hurry to the center now. Don't forget we have a ticking countdown until this whole place becomes a wash in literal molten gold. We don't want to be here for that."
If there's anything we could make out from the map of how to get to the inner rings, Angela would follow those directions.

![]() |

"As we are under time pressure I would rather continue to move! I propose we go north to the center." states the slightly corpulent Taldan-Tien bard in full plate armor.

![]() |

"Okay, let's move on." Dawn keeps her blade out. "Center it is. Then we can move in random directions afterward!"

![]() |

The spell having run it's course, Golthwur again is adorned in his flowing white beard and mane. "Yes, let us be going quickly" he announces. Upon becoming somewhat winded after a few steps, he adds, "But, not too quickly."
He seems even to lack the energy to cast prestidigitation yet again. Thus, his "disguise" is abandoned.

![]() |

"Master Golthwur, so good to see you again! We thought that you had abandoned us!" Eltran says.

![]() |

"Hey, Golthwur! Welcome back! Did you see an ordinary commoner traveler around here? He's going to be buried in gold in a few days if he doesn't find cover!"

![]() |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

""BEHOLD!"" declares the wizard, punctuating his demand with a magical clap of thunder.
"That mere commoner was nothing of the sort! For it twas I, the only and only Golthwur Strath, Duke of Deception and Regent of Ruses, that has been traveling beside you," he points out, unable to discern even a hint of oozing sarcasm or gibing. "Pulling off such a magical disguise--one that fooled even my own travelling companions--is mere child's casting for a mage of my skill and knowledge."

![]() |

Nisha rolls her eyes at the wizard's antics.
"I'm all for heading to the center, but is anyone trained in the art of tracking . . . people? Animals? Seems we should support our supposition with maybe a little information if there is any to be had."

![]() |

Eltran claps on Sir Hayden's shoulder and looks at Golthwur and Dawn with a smile.

![]() |

"Wait, really? No way!" She turns to Nisha. "Did... did you know?"
Dawn has no skills to speak up. The joy of 2 skill points per level, yay

The map shows that the canals go through the inner ring, but they are filled with molten gold. Possibly might damper your plans to swim. Other than that the only entrance is at the ring's very northern point.
