The group stands before the golden citadel at the heart of Xin-Grafar. The very top of the citadel is unadorned stone. Throwing open the doors, the entrance is nothing more than a giant pit with thousands, tens of thousands, possibly more, of gold pieces. Helpfully, a rope is strung across the pit.
On the other side, in the massive room, there are some Razmirans, though interestingly enough, one in a silver mask is tied up and bound on the floor, and other two are arguing.
"She's gonna kill us, she doesn't care if we die!"
"We don't have way off the island! And we couldn't make it back to the coast by ourselves if we've tried!"
"We're dead either way!"
"Ah, Razmir! Those guys aren't with us!" One of them has spotted the group. She throws her hands up, and her companion does as well.
"She's in there!" He says, pointing at the other day, "And between you and me, she's insane!"

![]() |

"I mean, sanity is overrated." Dawn ponders. "But more importantly, I'm glad we're not fighting. I mean, what's going on in there with your boss?"

GM Ultra Plus |

"We're currently discussing the current chain of command," the woman says, nudging the tied up Razmiran priest with her boot. "But if you're talking about in there, I don't know. Some weird wizard stuff."

![]() |

Angela gives a nod at the few sane seeming members of the Razmirian group. "I couldn't help but overhear you talking about not being able to leave this place. If you want you coudl return with us provided you promise a few things. A) you won't try to attack, maim or harm us and B) you don't have some irrational prejudice against alliteration or other literary tools. I don't want to have that argument again. If you are interested in leaving Razmir completely, the Society would be glad to have you and I'd be glad to handle the paperwork, but if you want to go back we won't stop you."
She pauses for a moment ot let her words sink in before continuing. " You don't have to answer us right away, as long as you won't interfere in what we do next in there. But, more pressingly, is there any specifics or detail syou can tell us about what might be going on in the next room? Who went in there? Did they go alone? Are they a caster? How did they seem to go 'insane'?"

![]() |

Eltran is really not feeling that this encounter makes sense.
He listens to the conversation and then jumps in.
"Listen, I think that we all want to get out of this town alive. It would be absolutely logical to forget our current ideological differences and try to cooperate! So please tell us what you know about this place and if you have any resources to make it easier to overcome certain challenges!" he says to the group of Razmirans.

GM Ultra Plus |

"Listen, its not irrational prejudice, its just a religious edict," the man says, "Our God, Razmir says that alliteration isn't --"
"We just want off the island," the woman says, "She already killed Terry, for some Razmir-forsaken reason. Said she was trying to unlock the powers of the jewel?"
"It was a golden jewel, a jewel made of gold," the man pipes up.
"Anyways, after that, we realized that we were gonna be next," she continues, "So we decided to take our concerns to our direct supervisor." She nudges the tied-up man with her boot again. "He wasn't receptive to our feedback, so we had to raise the issue in a different way."
"Iramine, the elf in there," the man says in barely above a whisper, "She's been here before, a long time ago. All she cares about is that jewel. She's not a true believer. She only used us to get us to steal the amulet pieces back in Nirmathas. After she took Terry, she been in there for hours. I don't know what she's doing, but we heard screams, and our boss said she said she needed the heart of a condemned man."
"Terry was going to be hanged in Brevoy, but in prison, he found Razmir, and the Church got him out." The woman says. Her breathing was strained, like she was trying very hard to keep her emotions in check.
The woman turns to Eltran. "I got a smokestick and a rapier. Is that gonna help you kill a wizard?" Then, turning to face Golthwur, "I don't know, old man, wizard shit. She's got a book, and she's trying to break Tar-Baphon's magic keeping the jewel here."
"She's also got a sword, one of those elven swords," the man says quietly, "and she knows how to use it."

![]() |

"Sounds like we can do something about that. After all we did just kill an undead gold-plated dragon. One elf wizard might not be too much of a problem."

![]() |

Dawn simply nods along. "Well then. Glad you're willing to get out of here. But first we gotta handle your former? Boss. She's got to go."
"Hey. Once we're ready, I'm gonna turn >Invisible< and then >Blurry<. I assume her Foredaddy is going to curse her with... super powers or something."

![]() |

Hayden knees and removes the bound man's mask. Then he turns to look at the cultist. "She has someone in there? As a sacrifice? We have to go now."
He looks to the others to be sure they're ready and prays to Sarenrae for her blessing. Despite the evil of this place, the proximity to molten fire does seem to grant him comfort of the Dawnflower.

GM Ultra Plus |

The magical properties of the jewel are far beyond the ken of Angela, though its clearly the jewel of everlasting gold that Reginar Lacklan talked about back in Tamran. The green and black amulet acts as a key to Xin-Grafar. If the Pathfinder Society has the amulet, it can control who goes into the underground city.
The wand is a wand of false life with a few charges left.
The ring is a ring of counterspells, and if only she weren't flat footed when she was blinded, she might have been able to do something with it.
The spellbook is not magical, but it contains the magic writings for ice storm, fireball, lightning bolt, blur, scorching ray, web, chill touch, magic missile, shield, alarm, dispel magic, hold person, invisibility, levitate, true strike, dancing lights, detect magic, light, and read magic.
Potion is a Potion of Cure Moderate Wound. Cloak of Resistance +1. +1 chain shirt, and the elven curve blade is magical, but Angela isn't sure of its exact enchantments.

The party eventually makes it back to the surface of the Island of Terror, and is able to collect Drusan and the two sensible Razmiri and get back to Tamran. Reginar Lacklan is enthused about the society having now exclusive control to the city of Xin-Grafar. The jewel of everlasting gold disappears back to the center of Xin-Grafar the moment the party leaves the party. Tar-Baphon's enchantments are far beyond the Pathfinder Society's ability to unwind at this point.
