Wow. Cool... I'm realizing that Risky Surgery isn't as good as it sounds... Might swap it for something else...

![]() |

I have Battle Medicine as part of the Field Medic background. I'm thinking of picking up Assurance so I don't need to pick it up at Lvl 3...

He obviously had illusions of grandeur...

Chadius, do the maps in this scenario come out as one image when you extract them (as opposed to the older ones where they come out in pieces)?

GM chadius |

Some maps are 1 JPG, and others are multiple JPGs stapled together. You can't "lock" images in Google Drive so I've been trying to make the maps into backgrounds. It helps a lot for mobile users so they can move their tokens without moving the world.
I've been taking screenshots of multiple JPGs from the PDF file so I don't have to manually rearrange them. But I should also start taking screenshots of the slide themselves; it's a much easier way to make fixed backgrounds.

![]() |

if you're taking screen shots (or using the Snipping Tool), how do you remove the wording on some of them (e.g. PCs start here)?

![]() |

I was able to extract images from the pdfs a few ywars ago. Is that no longer possible?

It's very much possible. My question was if Chadius was taking screen shots, how do you remove the writing from the PDFs (like on some maps, there are places where it says 'PCs start here')...

![]() |

No, I know what you mean. But I was able to remove layers individually. So I had that "players start here" text as a separate image, and had the map base layer separately. It didn't include secret doors or trap symbols either.

GM chadius |

Oh yes, it's somewhat random.
For single JPGs I can easily extract the image without the text overlay with PDF24 Tools or Adobe Acrobat.
The hardpart is with multi part images. Either I get the individual pieces without the text overlay and I have to put back it together; or I can screenshot the images and the text overlay together. I wish I could just turn off the text overlay before taking screenshots, but the PDFs are locked. If there are no traps or secrets on the map, then I'll just take the screenshot and keep the text on the page.
I'm very happy Paizo announced they would add unlabeled maps in their future scenarios as a single image so it's one less thing I need to copy.

There needs to be an easier way to do maps from the pdf files. Some times when I would use the pdf extractor it would give me larger maps in pieces and I would have to build the puzzle,

How will scribing the spells from the one spellbook that I do not have in mine work in terms of PFS? This is the first time in either 1st or 2nd edition that I have ever seen a spellbook pop up like this.

![]() |

It appears that scenarios starting with 1-14 (Lions of Katapesh) have the maps come out in one piece instead of in pieces. I was trying to find out where the single maps started... I was preparing Flames of Rebellion (1-11) for my groups at work and was horrified to see the map come out as 6 pieces...

![]() |

So has anyone GM'ed 1-13? It's a 3-6 so I wouldn't have it -- just want to know if it's that's the first one to have the 1-piece maps or is it 1-14...

GM chadius |

According to the >PFS organized play rules<, you can use the standard costs for Learning a Spell.
In order to >Learn a Spell< and add it to your spellbook, you will need 1 hour per spell and you make a Arcana skill check. Then you have to pay material costs for each spell based on how well you succeed.
Cantrips and level 1 spells cost 2 gp. Level 2 spells cost 6 gp. You'll have about 8 hours of downtime before the next morning to study.

GM chadius |

>Makai told the guard< to wait near the flowerpot and be there before dawn.
You'll have to go check and see if she's still there.

![]() |

Ah okay I thought we were supposed to meet on the same day. Good.

![]() |

Hooray, I should be able to add some spells to the book then. I am going to list the Spellbook here so it is easier for me to reference.

Barralbus's Spellbook:
2nd: Blur, flaming sphere, resist energy;
1st: command, grease, gust of wind, magic missile;
Cantrips: electric arc, mage hand, produce flame, ray of frost, sigil

Does anyone know which Adventures/Scenarios/Quests are Role-play lite (i.e. don't involve much roleplaying)? I'm running 1-11 for one group at work and the initial part (which involved asking for directions) was pretty much 5 minutes of my players staring at each other (and at me)...

Fallen Fortress has literally 0 dialogue with npcs. Just brief them, tell them they are traveling to the place, dungeoncrawl, kill them. Easy pickings.
Okay that's a lie, there's 1 dude that was trapped in the tower. He has some dialogue. Some being the operative word.

Cool. I'll have to adopt it for 2e though... I'll read it when I get home. :)

![]() |

No worries -- looks like I just have to adjust the monsters for the most part.

![]() |

You could try 2-03 Catastrophe Spark, which doesn't have a lot of dialogue but so very interesting combats..... until they get to the final encounter ... which is more discovering a bit of what's been going on ...
It makes mote sense after doing 2-01, but that has quite a bit of talk before it starts... and it has a lot of skill tests. with not so much combat.

![]() |

@Jacknife - no spoilers! I am playing through 2-01 with... you as a GM :D
I believe: S01-04 - Bandits of Immenwood is very light on talking.
I honestly am not a big fun of 01-04 due to the scenario being fight after fight after fight ... ended with a fight. But it seems that this is what you are after

If all your players just stare at you and each other when you present a RP situation to them, you kinda know that they're just looking for fight after fight after fight... :)

Or a good ol' crawl. With 7 traps per hallway. And door mimics. And chair mimics. And WEAPON MIMICS. AND THE ENTIRE DUNGEON IS JUST THE MIMIC'S GUTS! HOW DID WE GET HERE?! AAARHG!

That too! :)

Seems to me for my groups I should just run something like Abomination Vaults since it's mostly in the ruins...

![]() |

I should have added this before, but I'm working at a local music festival from Wednesday until Sunday inclusive. It may cause a few hiccups in postings... but will do my best to post ... bot as required, will use skills as appropriate and hit things and shield as appropriate.

2-13 A Gilded Test is about an inner city fighting tournament. You can chat with your sponsor, but that's about it.
The final encounter KOed my squishy sorceress before she could act. Yay.
Uh oh. Deroff must have gone into hysterics...

![]() |

I had my other group googling "how to kill water in Pathfinder" because they weren't paying attention to the description I read or their surroundings...

![]() |

btw, if the PDFs are locked, how do you fill in the chronicles? you can't even extract the last page.

![]() |

On windows, I use Acrobat fill and sign option, which allows you to fill in the pdf and create a signature for the cert. It doesn't let you edit the contents, but does allow you to create entries over the pdf.

But because the PDFs are locked, it doesn't let you separate the Chronicle from the rest of the scenario document. Unless after that, you just screenshot it and export it to PDF?
