Dang, I would love to play my archer Inquisitor (level 9) in some of those season 5 scenarios as I've played him with a military responding to the Worldwound. However, it looks like I can only spare 1 scenario otherwise Teric won't be at 31xp before Waking Rune, right? (Or should he be at 30xp before Waking Rune? 30xp = level 11?)

That might be a lot of ranged specialists though, so I also have a anti-magic melee Inquisitor (level 10) if that's better.

30xp = level 11, and I always say play who you want to play.

I am reluctant to bring Aeliah to Elven Entanglement, because she is not a primary healer (no breath of life or the like) and I have heard this scenario has some tough fights.

@Teric: Quiella is at 30xp right now, the concern is that we should be *at least* level 11. You don't need to have exactly 30xp to play Waking Rune.

@Aeliah: Quiella is an Oradin who usually manages to keep herself and most of the party topped off in terms of healing via Life Link. She also can cast *life pact* which is a bit of a poor man's *breath of life*. Something to consider.

Also I just remembered I need to sort out replacing Sèriè.

Well, I didn't plan for her to escape. Teric wanted to fool her into giving up the baton and then thought we would fight it out. But once she started talking, I was just going with it. Didn't think she would just teleport away.


The Waking Rune

She'll only fight if she can't negotiate, and she won't give up the baton until right before she teleports.

A hostile party has to fight the lich and two golems - with the way your negotiation went, all ten golems got activated whilst you're still in parlay. No way she can give you the baton at that point until she's sure of getting away.

Yeah, to be honest I’m just glad she gave up the golems + magic items, and didn’t renege on the agreement!

The Price of Magical Ranged Ammo has always confused me.

Can you please follow my logic to see if I’ve got it right? :

20 arrows cost 1gp. Magic ammo is bought in lots of 50.

So 50 arrows = 2.5gp

The CRB states mwk ammo costs 6gp per item = 300gp in our example.

If we are talking +1 holy arrows, that is an effective +3 enhancement bonus = 18,000gp for 50 arrows

So total cost is 2.5+300+18000 = 18,302.5 gp for 50 or 366.05 gp each

Following the same logic, if the +1 holy arrows were based on mwk cold iron

Cost = 2.5*2 + 300 + 2000 (CI initial enchantment) + 18000 = 20,305 gp for 50 or 406.1 gp each

Have I got this correct?

Your maths looks right to me Aeliah :)

One additional stipulation from the Guide (season 10, p.21) is that you must buy ammunition in standard sized lots (eg arrows always come in 20s, including masterwork arrows; magic arrows always come in 50s) unless a chronicle sheet allows otherwise.

The Waking Rune

We are pretty much at the end of the run now. I just need to know whether you restore and recover Helsprex's ruined books before I can get chronicles done.

Success conditions:

You achieve your first PP by getting at least 8 golems and the ivory baton back to the Grand Lodge. (Done).

You achieve your second PP by getting at least 9 intact golems out without draining a significant portion of the power of the ivory baton. This is borderline - you've walked those golems around a fair bit in order to close the entrances, and the ivory baton has only limited power. But I'm going to say yes because in the end you could use an obelisk to teleport the golems to your ship, which conserves sufficient charge in the baton.

Aeliah:
The Dark Archive mission is pretty hard to succeed in - my party of four Hellknights failed it. The 'script' has you persuade Ambusta and Bogipfen to help close the entrances, and then persuade Karn to tell you about her own secret entrance (which you have no way of knowing about). None of which occurred to us to try when I played. I'm calling 'creative solutions' here though, since you made unexpected use of the golems that you negotiated for in order to expediently close the three known entrances.

Commiserations on missing out on your Faction reward for Fiend’s Fate :(

On a tangent, but OK for all. Minor spoilers for #5-01 Glass River Rescue:

I remember several Season 5 Faction missions where you almost had to read the GM’s mind in order to get them.

Eadie had a very laid-back, player-friendly GM for #5-01 Glass River Rescue (DrGabe if you’re reading this Gerald! Pretty sure you played Ruprecht) but dang! He was hard-nosed about having to cross every ‘t’ and dot every ‘i’ to get the reward.

Needless to say Eadie doesn’t write very good ‘t’s’ and ‘i’s’ ;)

It’s almost like the scenario authors were instructed to go out of their way to make it difficult to get the Faction reward.

Also, it looks like I miscounted Teric's xp. With the new chronicle, he has 29xp. So I'm going to bring in my Archer Inquisitor for Elven Entanglement and Vengeance at Sundered Crag. Then back to Teric for Ironbound Schism, which will get him that 30th xp just in time for Waking Rune. Does that sound right?
