I'm here but I forgot that Nina levels after the previous adventure; will try and get that done when I get home from work in a few hours!

I'm personally in no rush to start, Nina. But of course, it's not my game ;)
Hey Everyone, if Otha and Pai are not playing, we are at 5 players, which doesn't do us too many favors.
Can I suggest we recruit another damage dealer or tank? I have a non-Flaxseed friend that enjoys the occasional one-shot Pbp game.
(I was thinking of PAZ42 who played Zephron in your Shores of Heaven game, GM sv)
He's a good roleplayer, as well as someone that takes surviving as a team seriously. I'm not sure if he's played this one though.
What do you think or is there someone else who might be interested?
| GM supervillan |
We are at 5 currently and I was meaning to ask if you'd like to recruit a sixth :)
Please go ahead and ask PAZ42 if he'd like to join.

Okay, got Nina & Inky leveled finally. Only major changes for our good GM to be aware of is that Inky's initiative is now +7 thanks to Improved Initiative and she now has Electricity Resistance +10 via Evolutions.

I contacted PAZ last weekend.
He got back to me quickly saying he was interested but needed to check he had a PC in sub-tier.
He mentioned a Hellknight PC, which looks to be level 12 :(
I’ll get in contact with him again, but should we try recruiting another PC?
| GM supervillan |
If PAZ doesn't have a PC in tier, I'm happy to recruit another via Flaxseed or direct invite if any of you want to recommend someone.

Need to go look up the rules for replacing a lost animal companion.
| GM supervillan |
Hi Quiella!
Here's the PFS rule for replacing a lost companion.
A paladin can replace a lost companion after 30 days by simply summoning a new one (so almost always this can be done in between scenarios).
Within the same FAQ, here is the PFS rule for training new companion critters.
To summarise:
Taking the second and third points together, your new companion would have as many as 4 + (Handle Animal ranks) at the start of your next adventure (ie this adventure) as long as you are choosing tricks that you can meet the training DC for - by rolling in-thread or by Take 10.

Hey, all! I got contacted by that Aussie we all know and love about possibly joining this session.
I've got 2 characters in the 10-11 tier. Vanlo is a Swash 11, and honestly is a damage dealer with little to nothing else to offer. (And has never been played in PBP, so I'd need time to build his profile)
Amestra is a half-elf Swash (Inspired Blade) 5 / Investigator (Sleuth) 4 / Sleepless Detective 1. (10 total) Not a great damage dealer, but decent support and great skills. (She's also played with Eadie.)
Honestly, I'd lean toward Amestra (Amy), cause it looks like most of the team is martial focused already. (And back-story she's from Erages in Kyonin where this takes place.)
If the spot is still open tomorrow, I'll dot in with Amestra is that's okay.

Well, fancy seeing you here!
I'm good with Amestra joining if everyone else is :)

You got a call from Crocodile Dundee?? I'm soooo jealous!
I say play who you want to play, buddy, with the caveat that this one is supposed to be tough.

Don’t know if you’d call them shenanigans, but is it OK if I clear a few things with you before we start, GM sv?
Gervase has +3 flaming arrows (3), +1 evil outsider bane arrows (2), +1 holy arrows (2) which she has blanched with silver, all from Chronicle sheets.
Please let me know if you want to see the Chronicles.
➸
Is it too late to purchase the final (4th) +3 flaming arrow from the Chronicle sheet with 2PP?
I have no doubt you are aware +3 enhancements also count for silver and cold iron to overcome DR, GM ;)
I picture Gervase carrying two quivers (one at her hip, one over her shoulder paired with her efficient quiver) with open spouts at their bases, full of +3/bane/silvered cold iron arrows that need align weapon in order to overcome DR/good.
When she feels the need, she only has to draw an oil of align weapon (good) {move} and pour it down the spouts {standard} to coat 20+20 (40) of her arrows with the oil.
Does this sound reasonable?
✨
You may use this boon to "lose" any one prepared spell (or spell slot for a spellcaster who can cast spells spontaneously) in order to cast one of the following spells of the same level or lower. You may cast this spell even if it would not normally appear on your spell list. When you use the boon in this way, cross the entire boon off your Chronicle sheet.
1: entangle, protection from evil
2: align weapon (good), barkskin
3: arcane sight, stone shape
4: hallucinatory terrain, holy smite
5: commune with nature, polymorph
6: repulsion, stone tell
7: greater polymorph, sunbeam
8: animal shapes, horrid wilting
9: shambler, shapechange
Alternatively, you may cross this boon off your Chronicle sheet to retrain one feat into either Scholar (Pathfinder Campaign Setting: The Inner Sea World Guide 288) or Spell Mastery for free.
At some point, I suspect she might wish to lose one of her prepared second level spells to cast align weapon (good) on up to 50 arrows.
Is that OK?
| GM supervillan |
You're still in the Grand Lodge - Zey's not going to Repulsion you through the Tapestry Portal (yet). So you can still obtain supplies, including Chronicle Sheet items.
Applying an Oil is always a Standard action - and I've done similar with using such substances on missile weapons myself. If you could draw an arrow from a quiver, it's certainly accessible enough to load an Oil into. This only becomes a potential problem if you have too many projectiles bunched up (ie more than the 50 that the Oil can coat).
The Magaambyan Dilettante boon is nice, and you could certainly use it on this adventure. I can neither confirm nor deny the presence of creatures with DR/good of course :)

Man, figuring out stats, a level up, etc. in 1e feels so clunky after being awash in 2e for so long.
I think I figured out my animal companion correctly. Just 5 tricks for him, if I read your guidelines correctly, but I'm not sure what the DCs are? I can beat DC20 by taking 10.
| Túrin, Quiella's Companion |
This is Turin, for easy reference.
| GM supervillan |
You can find all the training DCs here in the Handle Animal skill page on AoN. Only a couple have a DC above 20.

I must admit it's a bit unsettling how the juggernaut now looks like it's turning to glare straight at Thoriel!
Quiella
|
I forgot to set life Link...
After this combat, Quiella will activate life Link on
Nina
Amestra
Thoriel
Turin
She also has a Life Pact spell that she could cast on anyone who wants to opt into it.
| GM supervillan |
she's effectively grounded and probably mostly useless for the remainder of the scenario or until we rest.
Sorry Nina. I know you're built for mounted combat and it sucks to be without Inky, but you do have 7 uses of 10-minutes duration Summon Monster V and that's not to be sniffed at.
This encounter undoubtedly contributes to this scenario's deadly reputation - although I'll say that part of that is the result of GMs not following the juggernaut's written tactics or misunderstanding Trample. I've seen reports of GMs giving the juggernaut a surprise round :O
Nina Brightspark
|
It's fine, I was primarily frustrated with myself for forgetting to account for AoOs. I'm going to blame that one on getting 1e and 2e rules mixed up.
Quiella
|
Sorry about that.
If you had botted me, you probably would have done something smarter than what I just did.
If I could do it over I would cast a defensive spell and do lay on hands or something but... Here's hoping she doesn't get knocked down by an AoO and the 50+ damage really means something
Amestra Veen
|
Whelp, that was the shortest scenario ever. Amy's dead at -34 hp. But she's got plenty of Prestige saved up so someone can resurrect her pancaked body.
FWIW, my other swash that I could have brought wouldn't have survived either, given how badly the dice came up on my trample saves.
| GM supervillan |
I believe this juggernaut (and its low-tier cousin) has ended many an Entanglement :(
Big tramplers are bad news.
Quiella
|
Dang it all. If I had known I couldn't charge I might have thought my way through to using lay on hands and still be alive...
I definitely was remembering only parts of the Charge rules.
Quiella
|
Kicking myself doubly because if I had cast Life Pact we might be a little better off...
Quiella
|
It's AC is over 25...
So I have like a 50/50 shot, roughly, to hit it and probably not kill it... or a 5% chance to make the reflex save and not die...
Nina Brightspark
|
Bummer, but at least I've got the funds to be brought back...
| GM supervillan |
Nina if you've got a reroll, maybe try it on that crit confirmation roll? A triple damage lance crit would be timely :o
Gervase Goldhawkë
|
If you roll a 6, roll the six-sided die again and combine the results. You may repeat this process up to twice for a maximum additional bonus of +18.
Quiella
|
I am very sorry everyone. If I had been more engaged we could be looking at a more feasible situation here. I feel really bad about this.
| GM supervillan |
Absolutely - please don't blame yourself caps. This scenario has a reputation.
Let's see if Nina can do anything to confirm her crit, it might just make a difference - if she does, I would suggest also using a reroll on your attack Quiella, assuming you have one.
Quiella
|
Ah yes, I do have a GM reroll (or two? I forgot how those work on 1e).
Nina Brightspark
|
| 1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Okay, crit (hopefully) confirmed! Maybe it'll make a difference :O
| GM supervillan |
A GM gets a single reroll per adventure in 1e, Quiella (assuming that they also have a qualifying piece of merchandise such as t-shirt or folio) and they get to add their GM stars to the roll.
Gervase Goldhawkë
|
I have a number of T-shirts that qualify, if you want to borrow one, Quiella (and the GM allows of course).
