As a person who has never really gone to any place like this, I have no idea how to proceed. It doesn't seem like joining the line is an option.

Sooo my thoughts with absolutly no basis in reality except it was imagined by my brain. Which exists in reality. Probably:
Joining the line:
Pro:
The trolls are more likely to let you in if you follow the rules
Negative:
You come on as "part of the mass" which might or might not be the impression you want to make
We might not make it on time?
Making a scene by skipping the line:
Pro:
If it works everyone knows you're da man
Contra:
I don't think we have the street cred to do that yet. But that might be something a little money and/or smooth talking from Cheddy can solve
You stand out, which might or might not be the impression you want to make
