No, we begin 31 July with faculty reporting. In NM we tend to start school in August, but every year it is earlier and earlier. The other school that I was supposed to start at starts next Monday, a full 2 weeks before the students start.

I will be going on vacation from Sunday, July 28th, through Friday, August 2nd. I should have the internet, but I am not sure how much time I will have to post. So feel free to bot me if needed.

As I have stated life changed for me and I have been struggling to post but have not given up -- however I am going to be away from internet from the 26th until after the 29th of this month so definitely nothing during this period.

I had to say good-bye to my 17 year old tabby this morning.

Sorry to hear that and I do not mean to sound callous but I would suggest getting a kitten fairly soon. Not as a replacement but an new addition.

Cuchi Cat has a younger brother named Scampers who is now bereft of a companion. The vet said to give Scampers time to mourn and in maybe about a month get a new baby.

Okay sorry belated update -- I got COVID even though I am fully vacinated however it seems I caught the new strain while in Florida prior to the new vaccine becoming available -- I am at 2.5 weeks and still slowly recovering.

I adopted a 10 week flame tipped kiten this afternoon. His name at the Animal Humane was Eggshell but that doesn't fit him.

I would suggest putting out the flame as kittens will suffer burns ;-)

Sounds cuddly.

First one that my wife and I got, was found on an engine at work.
Poor thing was terrified.
Now she is a full grown cat that has phases like love me but dont touch me.

and since then, we have picked up 3 more. :)

I guess you can say the wife and i are pet people.

I have had bunnies, a cockatiel, parakeets, a half bassett hound, and now 3 kitties.

Currently we have dogs and cats, snakes and fishes, along with a gecko.

We don't have birds, as we figure it would be slyvester and tweetie bird all the time. :)

We've never had bunnies.

If you could all keep and say a little prayer for Latte. He went in for his check up and his belly size was a bit troubling for his vet. They did an ultrasound on him and he has fluid in his belly as well as a slight heart murmur.

So this could be caused by a few things. Best case scenario is that he has some type of worm or parasite and he is being treated for that beginning tonight. If not, it could be a congenital condition which might not be treatable.

He went to the litter box earlier this morning and even though he still has diarrhea there was a white, little oblong-looking thing in his stool. In all of the time I have had cats, I have never seen anything like that. It was separate from the poop. It looked like a grain of rice.

Little Latte has his appointment today to get a little bit of fluid out of his belly and to see if he has FIP. He cannot eat until after the procedure because they will be putting him under and he is a starving little demanding kitten. Right now he is on his favorite blanket making biscuits.
Please keep this little one and his vets in your prayers.

He may have FIP aka Feline Covid.

they took out some of the fluid, a safe level and made sure to give good fluid. The fluid is yellow and sticky. Vet is going to get in touch with the pharmacy in NJ (Strongs?). Little Latte is on a steroid to help the inflammationn and we should be beginning the pills when they arrive. The vet said he is not out of the woods but there is hope. He is eating and eating and being sweet.

He did start his treatment for FIP on Saturday. He has taken 3 pills, he takes half in the am and 1-4 in the pm. He has to fast an hour before he eats so that the medication can have a better job of working. He can eat a half hour.

I think that either his new meds or the anti inflammatory are working. One side looks less full than the other, though he does not yet have a normal kitten belly.

He did start using the litter box again.

From what I understand as the medication works and begins to kill the virus he will begin to either absorb the fluid and/or begin to pee it or poop it out.
