BTW, Don has detect evil at will as a Paladin, so we could triangulate to get a better idea of where the spider is.

I will roll initiative once Don clears the stairs. That way we do not have to hold any turns and can get you in there based on ititiative.

My last characters were a barbarian and a cleric with the destruction domain. If those decided an enemy had to go for good, the enemy was one hit away from death. This impotent beating with a stick is ridiculous.

I'm not trying to hog the game, but it looks like no one has a better combination of int/know(arcana) and dex/DD, so I thought I help getting past that.

To finally get out of this horrible place and get to the normal world with normal undead, which Valdis is much more comfortable with than all those surreal encounters here.

Thank you. Valdis. I believe we are all ready to move forward.

I beg to differ. My Lesser Restoration rolls are in the "Rolls" spoiler. Valdis is completely healed, without the LR from Tally. As I told Tally in gameplay already, which you might have missed, due to short time between our posts.

Missed that lesser restoration in the spoiler. Did not see it you spell listings as prepared or spent. Don't see scrolls or a wand either. How did you do two lesser restoration?

Patron spells and substitution. Let's move forward.

Male Human Servant of Pharasma (4) - HP29 - AC11(15)/11/10(14) - F3/R2/W6 - CM B2/D13 - Ini+3 - Perception +4

GM:
Pactwizard Archetype. It's in the profile. Valdis can spontaneously change every spell (except bonus school slots) into a the spell from the patron. Which is for 2nd level a lesser restoration. Therefore the act as cleric of Pharasma with the holy symbol. The two glitterdust had to go.

Valdis proves his worth by getting us past that. Whew. Ready for a fresh start on the dead roads.

I am a mind reader but it is not always activated.

The pdf does not explain the models in detail. I would surmise they each represent a plane and are used as a map for calibrating the gate. Several wires connect the gate to the machinery.

Salighara built her scriptorium along the Dead Roads for the privacy it provided, and for the thinness of reality in that location.

Ah. Planer as in prime material, etc.

I was thinking plane as in a mathematical concept, thus the solar system. Makes much more sense now.

I'm a big fan of the role playing part that is not directly related to solving the main quest. Therefore, before the usual ooc discussion about loot distribution starts here, I started it in game.

You never learn as much about your comrades, as when there is loot to distribute and the greed and envy kick in. ;)

Male Human Servant of Pharasma (4) - HP29 - AC11(15)/11/10(14) - F3/R2/W6 - CM B2/D13 - Ini+3 - Perception +4

Do I get the password of the alarm stone with the spellcraft? Because it would be a pretty useless stone without it.

Yes, you do.

Male Human Servant of Pharasma (4) - HP29 - AC11(15)/11/10(14) - F3/R2/W6 - CM B2/D13 - Ini+3 - Perception +4

@Tally
I think just because we're faster with posting than Igar this time, doesn't justify a lengthy discussion in front of Salighara about what she meant, so I refrain from answering in game and let Salighara tell what she means.

That doesn't mean I'm able to refrain from answering your post completely when I think I'm right. ;) So I do it here by showing the history of the posts, with highlighting why I think she means Pedipulp.

Are you moving forward or resting? Valdis is all but useless at this point. A small price to pay for getting out of the scriptorium.

Valdis, I found a place not too far ahead where I can drop you a crossbow. While Grave Touch (Sp) is not as useful as the useless Sps of other schools, do you not have that?

LOL, We shall see about that. I hate autocorrect on my stupid phone. I would be far better off without that. Yet I still retype every d@#^ thing as opposed to turning that off.

Yesterday it replied to a text message. I know I did not type anything and did not select a preset reply. It was to a customer but the reply was dead on accurate, so I left well enough alone.

'pesky shabti' as in all of them. The circle is painted on the map.

Based on his out of turn actions it appears Valdis has a different interpretation of suggestion than the authors of the pdf. Quoting pdf:

"TACTICS During Combat Some of the Gardeners begin combat by making a suggestion to enemies in the area that they carefully remove and set aside their weapons, armor, and spell components so that their equipment won’t be damaged. While any foes that remove their equipment are occupied, the Gardeners attack others in melee, flanking with allies when possible and using both Stunning Fist and flurry of blows."

I will be using the authors' interpretation of suggestion in that the act itself is not harmful. The monks attacking your allies will not break the suggestion. Attacking you will break the suggestion.

Tally, your PFE has no effect on these LN npcs.

I misread Valdis' post. Assumed he failed and he did not. His suggestion was to "wait" outside not continue fighting.

That is the thing where we disagree. I interpret that as a situation like making wishes from evil genies. If you don't word your wish very careful, you might end up with horrible things.

wait
VERB
stay where one is OR delay action until a particular time or event.

It is OR, not AND. The niceties of language dependent spells.

As Valdis is able to do multi tasking, and 'waiting' in the sense of not going away is a free action, and 'making sure no one approaches' also is a free action as long as no one comes, there is room for Valdis favorite pastime - casting spells. ;) And the suggestion didn't tell, that he shouldn't do anything else.

At least from my point of view.

Well, how about that. I was right for once. Sure am glad I didn't decide to stay and slug it out. Now to decide whether we go back in armed, or remove all our armor and weapons and enter like that.

Apologies for the botched encounter. A first for me and hopefully the last. I will be more careful and take the time to read the posts correctly.

A fresh start is in order, as if that never happened.

You are full on everything and ready to buff before entering. When you enter I will wave over the talking and roll initiative.

Male Human Servant of Pharasma (4) - HP29 - AC11(15)/11/10(14) - F3/R2/W6 - CM B2/D13 - Ini+3 - Perception +4

I suggest running in naked and jumping into their faces like the Asian guy from the car trunk in Hangover. This way they can't suggest us to put anything away.

But jokes aside - this fight is worse than the one against Pedipalp, because now we have four of those meddlers in the mind. And the way Igar plays suggestion, half of the party will pluck daisies, while the others have an interview for pushing daisies. Igar told, that they are not evil, so there is no protection against it.

Maybe with a different spell selection we might be able to sneak through without having that encounter? Or the rather limited dimensions of that skull shaped garden allow for going around?

Otherwise there might be ways to prevent suggestions. If I prepare blindness/deafness I could cast deafness on all of us, and we'd be immune. The spell is permanent(dismissible) so that would work in our favor. Downside is, that I don't have that much 2nd level spells for a day.

Male L/N Human Shaman(Spirit Warden)/4 | HP: 35/35 (3/4 sun-blessed temp HP) | AC/T/FF: 20 (+2 if law) 18/17/11 | CMD: 17 17 | F/R/W: +3/3/8 | Init: +1 | Speed 30ft | H Anim +3, Heal +7, Intim +11(9), Kn Nat,Pln,Rlg +5, Perc +8, Scraft +5, Surv +7 | Active Conditions: Barkskin

If we wait a day. Tally can cast a communal Protection from Law. That should deal with the mind control nonsense. But I was assuming that a reset meant we go in without having had the experience of knowing what we would run into. Unless I was mistaken and reset just meant the encounter ended because they shoed us out and we do it all over again.

So which is it?

It never happened. Complete redo. No need to wait as your spells are reset as well. And you know what you know is no big deal. We want to get through these guys and continue on. Their damage and DCs are low but if the suggestion hits...not so fun. Maybe the dice will be better to you this time.

What? Valdis looks like a toad. How could that be? I did not have a genie grant me a wish. Like I need a wish in my game. LMAO ROTFL.

Male L/N Human Shaman(Spirit Warden)/4 | HP: 35/35 (3/4 sun-blessed temp HP) | AC/T/FF: 20 (+2 if law) 18/17/11 | CMD: 17 17 | F/R/W: +3/3/8 | Init: +1 | Speed 30ft | H Anim +3, Heal +7, Intim +11(9), Kn Nat,Pln,Rlg +5, Perc +8, Scraft +5, Surv +7 | Active Conditions: Barkskin

In that case Tally will be taking protection from law instead of evil. That should do the trick. And since the mind control is insane in this place, unbreakable heart for the protection spell elapses.

Male LG Human Slayer (Deliverer) 4 | HP: 40/40 | AC: 19 (14 Tch, 15 Fl) | CMB: +7, CMD: 21 | F: +7, R: +7, W: +3;| Init: +7 | Perc: +7 | Speed 20ft | Sneak Attack 1d6 | Active conditions: Dex Damage 1 Wis Damage 3 | Ammo: 39 arrows

Sounds like a plan. Sadly I've got nothing to add, though maybe Walhart could simply yell very loudly and overpower the suggestions so we can't hear them.
