Good to go; HP suck...again, but I finally got studied combat and 2nd level extracts...so a big help.

You could retrain HP later if the GM allows it. Costs you 5 days of training and lvl * 50gp, for 1 HP. So at 4th level that is 200 gp and 5 days per HP.

Well then....didn't know I could do that...
There are some requirements for that as well. 4d8 would be 16 if I am doing math correctly. Somehow you are still above average.

Well...we did max at first level, right? And, favored class gives 1/level

The only requirement that I know of is that you are not at max HP. The main hurdles are the time and money. 1HP for 200 gp at that level is a lot.
Retraining hit points takes 3 days and requires you to spend time at a martial academy, monk monastery, or with some kind of master of combat who is at least one level higher than you.

Ah, I see what you mean. External requirements. Yea, not likely possible on the dead roads.
Don, Ralphrius looks like a fine player. Please extend an invitation to join us here in discussion to choose a class and build his PC.
Tally, just noticed your speed is listed as 20. The mithral drops it to light as opposed to medium. I would have ruled your speed is now 30 as no light armor reduces speed. Then I found this:
Mithral armor is 1 Bulk lighter than normal (or light Bulk if its normal Bulk is 1, with no effect on armor that normally has light Bulk). It’s easier to wear than normal metal armor, reducing the Strength score necessary to ignore its check penalty by 2 and reducing its Speed penalty by 5 feet.
Igar wrote: reducing the Strength score necessary to ignore its check penalty by 2 Wait a minute. That looks a 2e rule. I hate reddit. Why do I ever click on their links?
Your speed is 30 unless you can prove me wrong.

You are right. I forgot to update when I swapped out the scale mail for the mithral armor.

Sorry, went a little dark do to some non COVID illness. Back now. I'll reach out
Glad to have you back. I heard that Etgar moved irl recently. Whew, might take a while to recover from that one. I hate moving. My next move will be to a pine box.

Hey all! I play a few games with Don, he invited me here. Are you guys still looking for another player? I'll gladly whip up something new that fits the party's needs mechanically. I'll also do some backreading, but it looks like there's a lot to get through, ahaha.
1 person marked this as a favorite.

Current party makeup is Paladin, Shaman, and investigator.
The first post in this thread discusses the AP and character creation. We are rolling for HPs after level one.
Your wealth is that of a level one character. The party began in the boneyard and is still there. They have accumulated some items that may help you out.
Glad to have you!

Hi Ralphrius, good to see you in here!
Yeah, sorry; this move has me constantly trying to catch up.
Male
Oh, Nayr! Didn't know you'd be here as well, some familiar faces here :)
I'm tempted to either pick something druid-y or something fighter-y, but I'm gonna orient with the player's guide as well. My workdays are pretty busy, but I hope to have a character ready, up and running before the end of the week. Thanks again for having me!

We got the front liner, full progression spell caster (divine, kind of), and skill monkey covered.
The shaman can also fill a slot in the front line though I doubt he will ever dish out a lot of damage.
So bottom line is that there is no reason you cannot play whatever it is suits your fancy.

Can anyone use that fire shield scroll on the loot list? That sure seems like it may work

Donovan is a brick, and he hits hard, but I do not think his damage will scale.

No, that one is not on the Shaman list.
IIRC Niu created the loot list. It is most likely stored in his google. docs. Since he quit every game he was playing in, it might be a good idea to take ownership of the file.
I will see what I can do and keep you posted.
Let me know if this version is good and I can update the link at the top.

I can't even use UMD on that scroll I don't think....I think with a nat 20 I'd still be 1 too low to make it work. Darn...

Works for me too. Added the Scale Mail Tally dropped so I an edit too.
I do not see
NINE-EAVES KEY
PRICE 1,500 GP
or
17-sided personal stamp, which functions as a pearl of power (2nd level)
Just winging this... let's say the price of a 2x pearl of power is doubled as a boneyard stamp should increase its value to many collectors. If you can beat that, please do.

Gonna roll my HP real quick:
Level 2: 1d10 ⇒ 6
Level 3: 1d10 ⇒ 4
Level 4: 1d10 ⇒ 6
Not too bad!

Ralphrius here, rolled up this character! Backstory still pending until I get a bit of a clear image on the adventure and how my character ends up in it, but the bare basics is that Father Walhart here is a devout follower of Erastil. He used to preach, but has in recent years decided that the best expression of his faith is to relentlessly hunt the wicked.
I like it, Father.
Used a slayer as an NPC once. Attractive woman who was a barmaid and then some. The PCs were warned about her as the rowdy local loggers were nothing but respectful to her. She was several levels ahead of them. The players never gave her reason to outright slay them.
How is that backstory and clear image coming along?

tldr:
When the party exited the simulation of Roslar's tomb the landscape outside the tomb is bathed in grim moonlight. Dead trees adorn pale, rolling hills, each of which is covered with gravestones that march away to the dark horizon. The moon above is impossibly large and looks down upon you as a glowering skull. You recognize these surroundings as part of the Boneyard, the plane where souls who have died go to be judged and receive their eternal rewards.
Two psychopomps approach you. They are Umble and Thoot. This narrow valley has several copses of dead trees, each separated by thorny brush. All the residents of Roslar’s Coffer are here, puzzled but trying to persevere. The Boneyard has created a rough facsimile of Roslar’s Coffer to ease their transition, and the trauma the souls experienced in their mass arrival is enough to blind them to the obvious imperfections of the simulation. The citizens of Roslar’s Coffer are petitioners, but as they haven’t accepted their fate, they look like, and believe themselves to be, living creatures. Their memories are universally hazy; they all remember going to bed at night and awakening here, but other details, even important elements of their own lives, are unclear. Convincing a resident to accept his death is not easy and could have bad consequences.
Umble and Thoot tasked the party to convince the residents of their death and upcoming journey. They were successful at that task.
At that point you were given directions on the dead roads. You need three stamps and may continue on to the material plane where you belong as you are not truly dead like the others for Roslar's Coffer.

Sorry, it's been a busy weekend so I was still playing catch-up. This tldr is exactly what I needed, I'll have something written up within a day.
EDIT: OR it's done already. That also works.
Walhart, my tl;dr did not include the fact that you must acquire three stamps to exit the boneyard. Umble and Thoot told you this. Your PC knew this and obtained the first one when you addressed the tooth fairy monarch in the castle of teeth.
This AP continues to impress me. Went to the end with a party of dusk elves that were dex based. Saw multiple encounters I thought were certain tpks and each time the party somehow survived. That type of simulations does not consider wear down. So...
Currently running the same party through every encounter. They just passed you in the scriptorium.
It gets way interesting at the end of book 2. Book 1 gets you out of the boneyard, book 2 deals with what is left of Roslar's Coffer and then you pursue The Tyrant in book 3. Book 6 ends the AP.
Are we in this for 6 years irl?

I have never, in over 100 PBP games, quit one. I can do 6 years!
Glad to hear that and level 20 for you. I have every intention of completing this. It is my only game atm. My last two GMs just vanished so I have no players atm.

13 is the highest I ever made it. I am in for the long run. by the time 6 years is up my kiddoes will be old enough to play.
Tally wrote: ...but I cannot cast it all that often nor does it last very long Yeah, that continues for many levels. The party I am running through this AP right now took scribe scroll and craft wand feats. They are on a 10 day journey. Many scrolls and 4 wands will be crafted during that time by the two casters. I am liking it as the repetitious stuff will not take up spell slots.

I always stock up on scrolls but there probably won't be a chance until we leave the boneyards.
An accurate assumption.
My characters were burning through spells at first and I adjusted them to ranged fighting and saving the spells for the bosses as much as possible.
