I would have asked for a wand of magic missile. That is first level and the cheapest kind of wand you get. But two thoughts changed my mind about that.
One, it is evocation which is one of my opposition schools.
And second it is an auto hit. Acid arrow has a little higher damage, but I would have to aim it, which would make it more interesting, and probably even less effective. Also it is conjuration magic.
But I wouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth.
Does a wand from an opposition school matter? You can cast it just at a slot higher iirc.

Igar The Terrible wrote: Does a wand from an opposition school matter? You can cast it just at a slot higher iirc. Only for fluff. It's a wand with a spell from my spell list. No limitations there.
If preparing it myself it uses two spell slots instead of one. That's why I currently have only three cantrips prepared as all light spells are evocation.

@Tally
You suggested to get Salighara. I'm not aware where exactly you met her. Is it an option to just walk over and bring her in, or was that half a day down the road?

If you look at the map and go to the south of the building you will see a woman there. That is where we left Salighara, who offered to give us our stamps if we freed the place from Mrs. Pedipalp. She said Mrs. Pedipalp was responsible for the problems after Salighara assigned her to run the place while she focused on other things. Now Mrs. Pedipalp says Salighara is the villain. Tally is more inclined to trust Salighara and wants to hear her rebuttal. He'd really love to bring her into the room and see what she makes of it, but she was reluctant to enter and I strongly suspect she will refuse. Still, she was the one that commissioned us to do this so her opinion matters. Not to mention she gave Tally a boon. She transferred some power over to him and he can cast breath of life one time.
So, yea, Tally is not going to do the evil one's bidding unless she gets the OK from Salighara. He is rather hoping you all fail actually, because he does not think this will end well if you succeed. Though it is possible that Colulus is behand all this and Mrs. Pedipalp is just a victim.

Well, ooc it was clear that Mrs. Pedipalp is the bad guy. In game not so much. But as this trying to be nice is leading nowhere, we go back to the good old "hit it with a stick until the issue is resolved".
Walhart has until tomorrow evening (Oathday) to roll his fort save (bot is at the ready). As Valdis has initiated an encounter, I will roll initiative once that fort is resolved. Please double check me on the stats line. I was multitasking when I updated that.

It is not my turn yet, but I can spoiler it:
What Valdis has tried so far didn't work. So now it's your turn to come up with something and try it.
Valdis will stand and watch.

But keeping the spell up only needs concentration, which is a standard action. So I assume, that after collecting all the information I still have the move action to leave. If not. I stay.
That works. I double moved the other icons on the map. Please move your icon on the map.

I guess Pedipalp's mirror images also show up in the magical spectrum. But besides what's on Pedipalp there is nothing magical in the whole room?
The 'portal' and all the strange machinery is alien tech without magic?
The invisible creature casting spells, also has no magic on it?
Good call.
Other aura's:
Portal strong
Mirror images dim
Area where spells came from does not register.
Male Human Servant of Pharasma (4) - HP29 - AC11(15)/11/10(14) - F3/R2/W6 - CM B2/D13 - Ini+3 - Perception +4
What rolls would I need to make to get some more detailed information about that auras/items?
The entire room registers for that matter.
Knowledge Arcana for the school.
Magical items spellcraft.
Tally remains as firm as a politician on his decisions. LOL, Tally.

Always wanted to go visit the other lady. But the next time we go in, I'm thinking we may have to go in in attack mode. Though I suspect the AP would prefer we solve the gate.

Kill first, ask questions later. The gate doesn't go away just because Mrs. Pedipalp does.
Just my 2c worth.

The magic of Mrs. Pedipalp seems to have some transforming side effects in gameplay.
Just went through your loot. I thought you had a wand of lesser restoration. But you do have:
Potion of CLW
Potion of CLW
Scroll of Lesser Restoration
Scroll of Lesser Restoration

Tally will hold on to the lesser restoration since he can cast the spell. You guys should hold on to the potions.
You guys are not looking battle ready to me.

Hey, Tally is doing just fine!
But I think we should use the lesser restoration scrolls, particularly for Walhart. I just need an IC reason to do so.

At -5 Con he probably looks like the walking dead. A heal check should give a hint at the problem.

Hmm. I did a heal check on Don but not Walhart...
Looks like a week of rain here. Being in a place that requires boat travel to get to my car I should be in front of this screen most of the week. Running out of whiskey. An hour round trip to the nearest place that sells whiskey at a high price. It is worth the trouble to live in paradise.
My calcs were off at least 1 hp for Donovan. Correcting in his favor.

Are we all ready to go back into battle? How long did the visit with Salighara take?
5 minutes to get there, 5 minutes with her, 5 minutes to return.

What is the duration of Don's condition? Is it over?
Don's condition remains. In game play you do not know what it is.

Male Human Servant of Pharasma (4) - HP29 - AC11(15)/11/10(14) - F3/R2/W6 - CM B2/D13 - Ini+3 - Perception +4
Then wait for it to go away or find a way to identify what it is. An assault on Mrs. Pedipalp with Don nauseated is crazy. That would be Tally and Walhart vs. Evil.
I was hoping a little that Salighara could help.

I wonder if the condition will go away if we return or work on the contraption. But you are right, with him nauseated we are toast and we don't have any way to remove the condition.
Salighara could not have helped had you asked.

If we are planning on resting I would separate and try to get a lesser Restore off for Valdis. I agree having to split Tally and Don make this seem unwinnable.

I could have tried to do a lesser restore on myself, but actually it wouldn't help any, besides relieving some of the con damage and the fatigue. The rules for starvation are very explicit what you can't do: heal the person. But are very quiet how the appropriate feeding has to look, to remove the condition.
You could try to cast a create food and water directly into my stomach. ;)
Let's see if Igar feels generous and I get the ghost template for Valdis. :P

Drat. So healing the con damage fully did not remove the nauseated condition.
Did that second lesser restoration go off?
Well, we are going to have to go back. Don is not getting better so we either fight with two arms behind our backs, or we try to figure the device out which seems next to impossible.
Am I missing something or are we truly screwed?

You just have to wait until the next guy comes along with a late start because the lid of the coffin was stuck.
But on the other hand, I'd really like that incorporeal undead thing. That matches perfectly with the necromancer and would made Valdis a lot more sturdy. Also, if I'd still play too stupid to keep the character 'alive', I'd rejuvenate within 2d4 days. XD
