All my PFS files are on the cloud through google chrome. I can access them from just about any computer. Really nice.

Tally PBP |

We are getting towards the end and will have to deal with a swarm. I have not seen any equipment pop up that will help us with that.
There is 8 oil unclaimed in loot and as far as I can tell it is our best option for fighting the swarm. If we wait a day, Tally can memorize a bunch of burning hands, to that is a very attractive idea.
Thoughts?

Father Walhart |

I think you might be right! Let's be sure to see if we can spot anything else as well.

Donovan Dale |

I am headed for Hawaii for a week starting tomorrow. I'll try and keep up, I have Bot macro's in my sheet.
clarity point Makup tests
C 12 Knowledge (nature) check: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (20) + 0 = 20
DC 14 Survival check: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (13) - 1 = 12
DC 12 Linguistics check: 1d20 ⇒ 15
DC 14 Will saving throw: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9

Tally PBP |

Shall we rest and gain some useful spells, or are you all ready to forge on ahead?

Donovan Dale |

Derp, it has been a busy week

Tally PBP |

If you are having trouble logging in, clear the cache for Paizo, kill the browser, open the browser, and log in under My Organized Play.
Probably other ways, but that is what worked for me.

Igar The Terrible |

Let us pick up the pace. At this rate I will die of old age irl before we finish this. One a day, once a weekend. Gonna bot the slow ones. Let's go!
When a guy named Igar the terrible bots for you, you will spend your time tying your boot laces together. Trust me on that one.
3/4 of 1 of 6 <==you are here

Donovan Dale |

Sorry it's been a week. I'll post later

Donovan Dale |

And then the site was mad at my chrome book.
Back on schedule
Crosses Fingers

Igar The Terrible |

I really like chromebooks. Operating systems are my thing. Only problem is I need to run virtual machines. So, back to Linux. I hear you can purchase the Mac virtual OS software on top of an Enterprise chromebook purchase. Nah, I have it all at no cost. Chrome OS is so close to being the best thing ever. But, you gotta F@#$@#$#@ it up. Right?

Igar The Terrible |

Please welcome Valdis as our newest addition to the party (if you accept him).
I have played quite a bit with this player. You will find that Valdis can be resourceful, cunning, and entertaining while really enjoying this type of game. I have been super impressed more than once with his tactics. Taking Valdis' approach to two certain tpk scenarios ended up lasting a few rounds each with zero party damage. I believe you have a real asset on your hands and look forward to more of that sort of game play.
No worries, Valdis. You have nothing to live up to at this point. I would never put you on the spot.
The game will get a little rough once you clear the scriptorium and deal with Deathbower (Mictena's realm). The second book gets way interesting and rewarding at the very end. There are at least two boring and tedious encounters that I will wave you through.
This is a very well written and thought out AP. I will do my best to present it as such.

Valdis Pechman |

Hello Everybody.
...
I have played quite a bit with this player. You will find that Valdis can be resourceful, cunning, and entertaining while really enjoying this type of game.
Thanks for the compliment.
I have been super impressed more than once with his tactics. Taking Valdis' approach to two certain tpk scenarios ended up lasting a few rounds each with zero party damage. I believe you have a real asset on your hands and look forward to more of that sort of game play.
That were total meta-game situations. It is not beyond me to waste 8th level spells on immune monsters (that was with an Int 8 character though).
Igar gave me a summary and I've read the first page of the game and the last five, so I've got a rough idea what's going on. And I look forward to playing with you.

Tally PBP |

I'm thrilled to have another player, particularly if he can solve this irritating puzzle. I deserve it though. I did the same sort of thing as a GM a loong time ago.
Welcome, Valdis. Hope you don't die of starvation with us in this corridor.

Valdis Pechman |

I hope someone has create food and water on their spell list.
As of now I'm not even sure how that effect works. I assume the doors keep moving away. That's why I posted in gameplay that I keep walking. to figure out if it is repositioning or only illusion. Or worse.
I'm pondering if I shall spam ideas in gameplay, or wait for Igar to answer this first attempt.

Valdis Pechman |

As Walhart fails to charm the portrait he suffers [dice=] 1d3 points of wisdom damage.
Valdis does not detect any magic in the area.
What about the effect of me walking away from the group? What does it do to the relative positioning of me to the two doors and the rest of the people in the corridor?

Valdis Pechman |

So I can walk 50 feet away from the others, see them in 50 feet distance, while not coming any closer to the door?
Trying to figure out what effect the corridor is using. If that is irrelevant or not properly described, just tell me to stop poking at that.

Igar The Terrible |

Valdis. Clarity Points represent your ability to have overcome and understanding of the nightmare influences in the scriptorium. The skill checks can be made untrained and apply to anyone who experiences the effect. I transferred Etgar's to you. These can be used against Pedipalp and the dream gate, so in two encounters.
Salighara used this area that naturally brushes near other dimensions to create a dream gate. Pedipalp calibrated it to the darker portions of the Dimension of Dreams. That is the source of the nightmarish things that have escaped into and transformed the scriptorium.

Valdis Pechman |

I want to unwrap the thing off Walhart. It's no melee attack but for sure a combat maneuver. A grapple check seemed to be the obvious choice, as breaking free or reversing the grapple would be a grapple check for Walhart.
And in real life it is no issue to break up two grappling persons, if you have the strength.
But to make a rules argument:
I could aid Walhart on the grapple check to reverse the grapple:
Multiple creatures can also assist another creature in breaking free from a grapple, with each creature that assists (using the Aid Another action) granting a +2 bonus on the grappled creature’s combat maneuver check.
In most situations it doesn't matter who does the main roll and who aids in the action.
If I can aid, I can also do it on my own.
Of course one could argue, that it is stated here, that multiple creatures can aid, but not that they can free with their own action the grappled creature.
This leads to interesting consequences: Assume, you have Walhart unconscious due to HP loss, so he can't break free. We can't harm the scroll without harming Walhart, which could potentially kill him. If there is no way for a bystander to break the grapple, then we'd have nothing to do about it and wait for death do take him.
So I conclude that there has to be a way to break a grapple as bystander and a grapple check is the logical way to do it.

Igar The Terrible |

So I conclude that there has to be a way to break a grapple as bystander and a grapple check is the logical way to do it.
You will need a rule to quote for that one :-)
You may aid him and multiple aids stack. Escape artist and cmb v cmd are the only two ways stated for breaking a grapple as far as I know.

Valdis Pechman |

Feel free to take my argument apart, or simply state how you rule it. That's just the logic that lead me to state that I unwrap Walhart.
That and the fact, that whatever you do in combat is usually an automatic success if you roll a nat 20.

Valdis Pechman |

I do like that spell. Underutilized if you ask me. Though did you account for cover and/or firing into melee? Those are killer penalties for a mage using that spell.
I have no clue if there is any cover involved for lack of 3D. Also the roll is pretty good. We'll see.

Valdis Pechman |

I don't know what you dropped so far in the run of the game, but as I skipped all of that I'm on my 40gp starting equipment.
I don't really need a crossbow, as my attack bonus is abysmal. But it sure beats standing around doing nothing in two out of three rounds.
But if that leeway goes far enough, a wand of acid arrow would be a nice ranged weapon. ;)

Donovan Dale |

I don't remember any ranged weapons. TBF I have been playing D&D since Paladins could not use ranged weapons.

Igar The Terrible |

Same here, Don. Wow, I bet that would date you if I did a liitle research :-)
Check out this Humble Bundle
Thanks to Valdis for sharing that in another thread.

Valdis Pechman |

Before they move on, Walhart grabs his sword from the ground and offers his longbow to Valdis. "Y'can have this one if you like. It's no crossbow or sling, but maybe it works?"
I read your offer and wanted to answer later, but forgot. Valdis is not proficient with a bow. My attack 'bonus' with it would be -1. This would be a waste of arrows. But thanks for offering.

Tally PBP |

A drop request would be a 1st level wand Valdis could use in combat.
Tally is doing OK with what he has, though something to boost strength or boost his to-hit or AC would not be unwelcome.
BtW I bought that humble bundle. Had a lot of stuff I was missing and gives me a lot more PFS options.
