Well, we dont wanna waste TOO much (more) time. (I suppose?!?)

-SO maybe not travel to Firrene and back again.

-Is/are there enough 'research' materials in this hick town to do any researching regarding possible keys? (I'm guessing any materials that would be useful are in the possession of Hamish and co.?)

What does everyone else think? (I think I've gotten to used to playing PbP's with not quite so many options/choices.) ;P

In a perfect world, we'd find a way in and be in and out before the orcs blast through the front door or find the back door.

So after doing a followup with my surgeon, there is 'concern' that my cancer MAY have escaped confinement before it was removed. They didn't see any signs of that before, but updating blood tests show a cause for 'concern'. They can't be sure apparently, but when in doubt, nuke it from orbit, right? ;P

SO, my next several weeks will be filled with yet MORE cameras, MRI's, consultations w/ radiologist, etc. etc.

All so that they can ultimately do what they've already said (IE= Decided) they want/need to do, and stick my @$$ in a microwave. ;P

So, yeah, buys at work, RL 'distractions',

Ok, kids. I was going to say "OrcDeath on Monday!" and try to push things forward at a better pace, but then the calendar noted that would be right before a long weekend (something about bunnies, I'm told), which could break the momentum.

Hey all, thanks for well wishes. And apologies for my unusually long, non-prolific posting recently.

For once I'll spare you the boring details, ;P and just say that my week didnt get any better since my last post. Kinda been scooting slowly and steadily downhill. :(

YES! we DO get a week off for Easter/Spring Break! (Yay for working at universities and schools!) so hopefully I'll be able to participate a little more regularly. For a week at least? ;P

I've levelled Lysander as a Shifter/2....not sure how this affects Hakkar or Kruss with the Boon Companion feat thing...not sure it affects them.

Because of boon companion, you can level up Kruss based on your character level -- at least until you have more than 4 levels that aren't druid.

Your familiar comes from a feat, so you'd have to check on that.

Next steps?

So -- we seem to have lost Treppa (to real life, poor girl) -- and others are facing similar challenges, such that we're barely limping forward.

I'm kind of thinking at at the current pace, you'll first get into the mine in late 2024, and maybe finish the first 'book' of the campaign sometime before 2040. (This seems less than ideal)

I know everyone committed to play in the beginning, but that was years ago -- and I'd rather not keep pushing forward a near-dead corpse because some people are feeling obligated.

So -- I guess I'm wondering if people are still interested and wanting to move forward (at a more rapid pace), or if we should just let this go?

Or, I guess, the third option, is to replace some people with fresh blood that might move things forward -- at this point, probably handled as a hand-wave/reality-shift to reflect the new party composition.

So, that to say -- what does everyone think? Where are you at?

I'm still interested, and I'm happy to try to keep moving; I made my vote to check out the mine, just waiting to see if that's where we go.

If we need to make some replacements then let's just put a pin in the game until we can refill the roster, and then see if we can move forward! At least that's my voice on the issue. :)

I know my intro to this game was pretty rocky, but I do really want to help and try to keep things moving.

I'm interested in continuing. I think we have a fun group. The PC interactions have all been fun, the combats are terrifying, and I think we are only now starting to get our groove.

I just need to (semi) seriously (Because I dont usually do serious very well) take a realistic look at my life (health and work) and make sure I can actually keep up with it.

Because I would like to continue, but dont want to go from 'chatty kathy' comic relief to the 'strong, silent mage' in the background because of my RL insanity and inconsistent posting. ;P

Do animal companions have separate initiative rolls? Sharisa became one with the level-up to 5 (cavalier, order of the saddle.) For next fight, if that applies.

And it was rough growing up in the intersection of Piasa bird and wendigo territory. Plains and woodlands were both very hazardous!

Generally, no.

It's usually the case that companions, with animal level intelligence, go when they've been directed by their two-legged friend - and so rather than have them delay, you just do it at the same time.

Of course, that depends on the companion - one that gets an int bump and is no longer 'animal level intelligence' would be able to go on their own based on their own judgment (of course, they might not do exactly what the two-leg would have wanted).

One that's been given orders to guard certain individuals (based on the tricks they know) would also react and defend/guard at their turn, following that order (though, again, tactics might leave much to be desired).

However, it's almost always the case that a mount moves when their rider directs them -- if only to ensure that their rider is ready to attack/defend/whatever when the mount gets them there.


Sharisa got a smart point! But yeah, her primary duty is to act as a mount. If she's not carrying a rider, Sahar can command her on her turn. She's not flying all about like some twerpy little lizard thing.

Yes, I started Radiation this week. Asked the Dr how many sessions til the superpowers started manifesting. He looked very confused until I added that I thought turning green or getting spider powers would be pretty cool. (The techs were laughing behind their hands the entire time)

Yes, I PLAN to keep posting, but RL has been, far too Real.
Still busy trying to keep myself out of more trouble while just trying to do my freaking job. Still have not heard back from HR yet. (Been over a week. NOT hearing anything is even more nerve-wracking than if they had called me!)

I am trying to keep up, (still need to update Merlan) but I honestly just dont know at this point.

I really do like being the goofy, comic-relief wizard. (Big surprise right?!?) ;P
But it's hard to do that when I'm not keeping up enough to comic, or relief. ;)

Just take care of yourself, Rags. I'm sorry for all the things that are happening to you. 2023 is not your year, is it. Best of luck with the radiation (get some good powers), and if HR bugs you, tell them employment lawyers would love to take the case of harassment of an employee with major health issues.

{{Hugs}} to you and yours. Keep your chin up. Take advantage of every HR benefit available if you need it (STD, FMLA, etc.) That's what it's there for. Nobody will reward you for NOT taking it.

In answer to your questions,
YES, Merlan has a plan,
He is the Arch-Wizard-in-training, of COURSE he has a plan!

It's not as good as when I thought that I was going to reveal the invis summoner, but its STIll a (good?) plan! ;P

SHORT version, spend the next round summoning a creature to help with fight, as soon as that critter appears on the following round, begin casting another summon spell to help, that SHOULD leave me with enough rounds of invis remaining to get nearer to caster and glitterbomb him into oblivion. ;P

Only reason I have both see invis and glitterbomb memorized? I was thinking we would have to prepare for our fast lil fiend, I mean friend! Who has been such a pain in the side lately! ;P

I'm trying to make a case for a combat trained, auto-defend, Int 3 WIS 12 horse to instinctively know to take a 5' step back away from the lightning creature and out of a flank without specific direction from its rider, whi is out of actions.

And I put a yellow circle on the map where my summoned ended up. Because I have NO idea how to find/import/etc a pic for it. ;P
