Back, safe and sound after a little highway skating in Nebraska.
Merlan and Tiny.
Glad you are back safe Treppa!
An OMG that is FUNNY! (And, strangely accurate.) ;)

Ragadolf |

Apologies in advance, Just in case. (No relation)
Got a busy TWO week rental (The big kids theater group, doing two shows back to back)
2 weeks of Long days and late nights. :(
So if I vanish for a day, (or three) Please forgive me.
On the one hand-
after much arguing with client about whether or not they could have an actual chandelier 'crash' from above the audience onto the stage for their High schoolers doing Phantom, and finding a professional rigger for them to make it happen, and NOW they are mad because the chandelier ACTUALLY (controlled) crashes onto the stage, and NOW they dont want it to ACTUALLY hit the stage (Once the rigging is done, it's too late for that nonsense) because they did not build it correctly for that. (They did NOT ask me or the rigger ONE question, they just built it their way) So Now on top of everything else I'm playing peacemaker/negotiator. :(
On the OTHER hand,
I actually get to see a production of Phantom, complete with 'crashing' chandelier. ;P
Some days, my life is a Soap Opera.
Other days, I'm just chewing soap. ;)
LAters!

Merlan and Tiny.
Safe and sound are two of the best ways to be, so yay! ;)
Welcome back.

Fiona saw it on a map, essentially.

Ok team, so, after we disperse the mob, presumably we just leave the region? Because nobody wants us here, not orcs, not humans, not talking wolves. There is nothing for us to do here, everyone is hostile to us, and there's no reason for us to stay.

Eloen Tamlyranth |

Not I. Since the villagers already dislike us, they have no reason to believe us; we need some way to defuse the situation and find real evidence.

Ragadolf |

Hey there,
Sorry, forgot to mention in my PbP's that I was going in for another surgery Wednesday. It was to resolve issue #1 of my Prostate cancer removal. (I've 0only been waiting a year and a friggin' half! >_<
It,... Did NOT go as planned. :(
Halfway through they ran into an 'issue' and they had to do a repair of a tear. This meant they had to cancel the planned procedure, as the install of the implant would have interfered with the healing of what they just fixed.
I am fine. i am at home. And I am,... perturbed, at the turn it took. ;P
This means I have to go through all of the healing time I planned for, but with none of the expected benefits. ;P
And in another 2-3 months, I can revisit trying again.
In short, because I literally cannot sit up due to incision location, I will be noticeably absent for a few days, until I can actually sit on my chair.
I will type entries standing up (like I am now!) when I have the time and ability to do so.
Apologies for forgetting to provide early warning.
Feel free to bot my toons. (And play them smarter than I do!) ;P
See you as soon as possible!

Fiona nel Mare |

Fiona's got +4 on Diplomacy, and has maybe possibly built a little bit of rapport with the villagers... (I'm out of town through Sunday, currently posting from my cell phone, though, so will get a Gameplay post up after I get home.)
Rags, hope you recover more quickly than you planned!

Ragadolf |

Ah, Rags, sorry to hear that. What a pain in the butt.
LITERALLY, in this case ;P
My dyslexia read "feel free to bon my toots," which seemed like some crazy Cajun expression.
Heal up quickly. Pulling for you.
I don't think that's a cajun expression? BUT, they do have some weird sayings down here. So it's not impossible! :)
Thanks guys,, Appreciate it.
Again, please feel free to bot me. (HAve Squeaks take over or something. He's probably smarter than Merlan anyway!) ;P

Ragadolf |

Wow, Rags. Sorry to hear that.
Though I'm pretty sure we all told you to to get better and stop having these bad things happen. :P
We'll be here when you get back.
Thank you,
And Yes.
Yes you did.
But since when did I start actually listening to anyone? ;P
(I mean, I SHOULD, I keep MEANING to, I just rarely seem to actually do it!) :(

Ragadolf |

I will be spotty for the next week or 2. We're moving Mom from independent living to assisted care in another entire city (to my sister's home), and it's turning out to be a rocky road.
Not the good kind.
Ugh, Sorry to hear that Treppa.
We're going through similar 'not the good kind of Rocky Road' with my father in law.
(Definitely no Ice Cream here.)
Good luck, positive feelings and prayers for you and yours headed your way.

Tilnar |

Sorry to hear that, both of you.
Should warn too that I might vanish for a bit, as it seems my m-i-l decided not to seek medical attention for like a week of having issues until it reached the point of needing an ambulance to bring her in... so, yeah, might not be the happiest of egg-weekends coming up.

Tilnar |

Sucks beyond the usual reasons of that, too, because we'd booked a hotel in Montreal to take the little girl to the Disney Interactive show this weekend. Not sure we can do that, now.
On the plus side, at least because it's a surprise, she doesn't know what she's missing.

Ragadolf |

Ouch indeed!
Bumnmer.
Hopefully it will work out for you!
(Or at least I hope you can get your $$ back, and try again!) :D
OOF, 2025?
I mean, I'm already NOT happy with how 2024 is rolling out, true.
But I'm not certain if I'm QUITE ready to jump to NEXT year just quite yet.
Unless I can get a guarantee this time? IN WRITING?!? That it will be better???!? ;P

Tilnar |

Merlan's comments brought this to mind.

Ragadolf |

Merlan's comments brought this to mind.
The diminutive mighty-Arch-mage-in-training can neither confirm nor deny that this scene may or may not have inspired his comment.
In short, the Halfling has no comment. :)

Treppa |

OK, my travels are done. There's a lot of paperwork and bureaucracy to clean up, and my roomie's mother is visiting over Memorial day so the place needs a good cleaning, but at least I'm not driving and collapsing into hotel rooms every night.
Time to keep up with pbps. You may chastize me now if I fall behind!

Ragadolf |

Glad you're back Treppa. (Safely, I presume?!?) O_o
My MIND is traveling!
And it's apparently not allowed to rest! :P
University goes into FINALS next week, so you'd think that a certain someone would get to slow down,... a little. Right?
WRONG!!!!!
>_<
I'm here, and will keep up best as I am able. ;P
Happy Weekend to all!

Tilnar |

Ok, so, are people still here to plan/investigate? I didn't want to make assumptions (like, for instance, have the seemingly less active players remain on guard) in case that gets the wrong skills/spells/level of interest at each place?
Or, should we just say we had a good run and stop? I mean, that's not my preference, but posting is barely a trickle and it's been 2 weeks since I asked the 'who goes where' question.
Or, if there's still some interest in moving forward and some lost souls, do we try to get some fresh blood to make with the moving?
Anyone?

Eloen Tamlyranth |

I was letting the cleric take the lead on this since the villagers seem more willing to trust her. Eloen just goes where Sahar says, since at least one of the villagers has already demonstrated that he's a racist who doesn't like pointy ears.

Treppa |

I think that "determined to split the party" kinda spooked us, as a sort of metagame warning.
I don't think our intent is to go elsewhere; we'd all be in the village. Sahar just wants to visit the family for a bit and try to calm things down (since the father is responsive to her deity), while smarter people investigate the scene. We could always convene in an hour or two.
Watch needs to be at night, when Davin traditionally looked out for the village.
If Eloen could snare that bastard Quickling, that would be AWESOME.
It's obvious the murder scene is overstaged with giant neon arrows pointing at Davin, but Sahar doesn't feel that now is the time to argue with the angry crowd (especially since intimidation is not the long-term thing that diplomacy is). It's an obvious way to remove the night watchman, which makes me think this village is in very serious danger.
Or it's a move to keep us stuck there to guard.
Arg.

Ragadolf |

Hey all, agree with above.
DOnt want to meta game.
(But, recent experiences AND recent TV shows have demonstrated that splitting the party is ALWAYS a bad idea. No matter how often they do it in the Fantasy novels!) ;P
Buuut, Even IF the PC's are HIGHLY suspicious, (And Merlan is starting to 'see' the Quickling in every shadow!) splitting into smaller groups long enough to investigate & speak with the family, during daylight hours, and in full view of the public, seems reasonable and 'safe'. :)
So, vote to split up into smaller teams, Team 1 is "Speak with family", Team 2 is "investigate site and find the REAL clues". (Hint, you do NOT want Merlan talking to a grieving family right now!) :)
Regarding posting frequency, I apologize. I am having a real 'fun' time at work IRL recently, (/Sarcasm) on top of it being busy.
(This last month, The $#!t has hit the proverbial fan. Repeatedly.)
Even when I have time, I have not been my usual novel-length & hopefully entertaining posting self recently. Sorry.
I do not WANT to stop, but do find myself struggling to keep up, even though we have been slow. I think we have a good group of PC's/Players. And this storyline has definitely been full of danger and intrigue, (I feel like we have narrowly avoided a couple of TPK's by the skin of our proverbial teeth! Go teamwork!) ;)
I'm up for whatever. Happy to try and keep going, (hopefully my personal life stuff gets better. SOON.) ;P and Completely understand if we want to call it a good run, OR just take a break.
Just let me know. :D

Fiona nel Mare |

You guys, I apologize. Never meant to leave you hanging and don't feel good about it. Life this year has been... a lot.
Tomorrow I'm leaving for vacation and not taking my laptop, but I will have my phone and I'll try to at least check in (and post) every few days. Hopefully we can get some momentum going again (I know that would help me feel motivated). :)

I'm sorry for my slowness. I tore the cornea off my LEFT eye this time, so haven't been able to use a computer this week until today. I'll try to update tomorrow.
Yes, it hurts.
What's with you and shredding your own optics? Yeesh!
Seriously, though, that's too bad, and get better quick-like.

RIGHT? SERIOUSLY! HOW?!?!?
I mean, I really DON'T wanna know how you did that.(OK, I really do. But only in a 'OMG! For real?!? How do I avoid doing that?!?!? kinda way.) :)
TOTALLY seriously, Get better quick!
(And for criminy sakes, be careful!) O_O
(Prayers for swift and complete healing included)

Treppa |

I'm much better, thank you. The bandage contact lens should be removed today, and I can finally see well!
For those who are curious, this is the culprit. The docs remove the raised tissue - like the skin of a blister - and put in antibiotics, dilation drops for the iritis, and the bandage contact. It takes a week or so to heal because I tend to tear off large chunks.
