What’s the worst that can happen though failing the checks? We miss treasure bundles?

This could be a main or secondary objective, it seems the main focus of the scenario is to explore and gather information and this could be a big part of it, especially since there are so many checks based on gathering information.

To follow-up on Jukuza's statement above, yes, the secondary success condition was achieving a certain number of Research Points in the Library Research phase, which you didn't quite achieve (it was also worth a few treasure bundles, as well).

You did, however, flawlessly grind through everything else :-)
