This time Rooke is the only one who managed to successfully poke the demon. Most of the damage is absorbed by its thick skin, and some is regenerated as well. Both Dolgrin and Izumi's shot miss its tiny body.

The demon hisses at Rooke and flies towards the platform and flings the dagger at Dolgrin again.

@Rooke: You won't be able to hit it by jumping anymore. Now you'll need to climb the stairs to get on top of the platform (a double move) before you can attack it again.

@Dolgrin: Someone would still need to collect the bolts, which are scattered across the far side of the room. I'd say it's a full-round action for someone who is already down there.

Izumi misses her throw, hitting the ceiling. Gladly, some sprinkled on it, making a hissing sound. In the meantime, Dolgrin's bolt hits it in the leg and it throws its dagger angrily at the dwarf again.

The demon, recovering from the pain from Dolgrin's holy water, seems to be curious about Dart and flies lower towards him. It lands on the platform parapet and says something in that awful language it talked with the monsters sooner.

Abyssal:

"The Mother is testing me? Is she sending my general yet?"

Party's up. The demon has landed close to Rooke. I put Izumi on the platform, as I imagine she climbed the stairs, but put yourself back if that's not true. The demon is Grazed after Dolgrin's holy water throw.

No, Dart is just taking guesses what the demon might be saying. He is fully in-character and trying to sell the whole "I'm more important than you and I have news from Lamashtu" idea. If his responses are anywhere in the neighborhood of what the demon is saying, it's pure, dumb luck...although, luck is one of Shelyn's domains ;=)

Dolgrin had collected two of the bolts that missed. Now he reloaded and shot the demon in the back.

The little demon is surprised when Rooke grabs its tail. It starts cussing in every language and after getting shot by Dolgrin, tries desperately to escape the bartender's grasp.

She walks out trying not to look broken but it's clear she's died a little inside.

Dart mutters, "Was gonna send her off to lead the troops at the Worldwound. It played out so nicely in my head,"" and he shakes his head wondering what he could do.

The group leaves and the tiny demon doesn't even follow. It just laughs between throwing insults.

Back in the surface, the people look worried at the group, but don't come talk to them. They whisper among themselves with concerned faces. Far to the west over the ocean, clouds gather.

Feel free to rest and think of other solutions. Nothing interesting to the story will happen until tomorrow.

Izumi seeks to take 2 days rest under a healers care. She's been weakened considerably and this has affected her physically, and taken a toll on her mentally as well.

Dart takes the time during Izumi's recovery to consider if he should "retire" from adventuring to settle down with Aneka, work in the bakery, and act on the Sandpoint stage.

Dolgrin on the other hand seems quite restless and a little bit annoyed. A dwarf does't give up so easily. His longer lifespan gives him a slightly different view at problems. While he seems eager and hasty on the outside, a dwarf's mind is very patient. And he'll never give up once he'd set his mind on something.
He spends his time waiting for his friends to recover and thinking about the fiend in the tunnels.

The caydenite's grumpiness was palpable in the Rusty Dragon. Too poor to even drown his sorrows, Rooke spent his available time helping out the tavern staff.
I've never wanted to 'ragequit' a campaign before now, but I'm determined to see it through.


Early in the morning on the following day, Shalelu the half-elf arrives in town. She requests to see the party in the Rusty Dragon. Ameiko is in a slightly better mood and brings a plate of ham, two different types of cheese, toast, honey, eggs, butter and porridge to Shalelu's table.

The tavern floor is full and the air is hot. Clouds approach from the west and some are already over the town. Bethana seems a little anxious about the clouds as she keeps checking them from the window. Once the whole group has been seated at the table, Shalelu starts talking with her mouth full.

The half-elf comments "Remember when I talked about the different goblin tribes? Well, it seems they are amassing. One of the tribes, the Thistletop goblins, seem to have taken control. They are led by Ripnugget and it seems that somehow it managed to get the other tribes to fight under his banner. They're all getting there, Brinestump, Licktoad and Seven Tooth."

As she lets the words ring for a bit, she eats a whole fried egg in one bite and munches on a slice of toast.

She, then, continues a little more calmly "Well, I'm going east and try to cut off more goblins from going there, but I think you should go to Thistletop. The real threat is there. It's a rock not far north from here. But be careful, some say it's not a natural rock formation."

She continues eating calmly, as if waiting to see whether there will be questions.
