Dart wanders through town in the direction he remembers Aneka indicating the temple would be and finds it quite easily, large as the building is. He strolls inside, still munching on bread and cheese, the cookie was eaten first despite his statement that it was dessert, and Dart scans the building's interior as he walks. A peculiar building, he thought as he walked.

At one point, he was distracted by a sound like something flopping to the floor, then a small child went rushing out of the cathedral.

Finally, Dart found what he was looking for, the area of the cathedral dedicated to Shelyn. Vibrant colors like a rainbow, homages to art in its verying forms, and images of her: Shelyn.

Quite happily, he sat down and finished off his meal surrounded by reminders of his faith, his purpose, and his muse.

Apart from its age, Dolgrin doesn't really get the ruined tower. He wanders across its remains for a while longer before returning to the other folks. That race game for sure will be interesting to watch, if anyone bothers to join, that is.

If nothing happens within the next quarter of an hour, he approaches the tattooed half-orc. "Hello, buddy! Nice ink, you got. What does it say?"

As expected :D

Poppy, Father Zanthus... Blessed' day to you both. Father, I was wondering if there is anything at all I can help you with?

As Dart walks into the new cathedral, he notices that a priest, probably the town priest, is talking to a gnome and a Tien woman. The priest notices the blue haired man going into the cathedral, but doesn't stop him. It is quite empty at the moment, as people are waiting for it to be consecrated to do their prayers. As he eats, he lets a few crumbs fall to the pristine floor, but nobody notices.

Time goes by and Dolgrin notices people are leaving for the opening speeches. It is close to noon.

Father Zantus replies to Izumi "A little courage for the speech would help." She isn't sure he doesn't mean a drink.

Once he was done, Jonathan took a took at his work, and realized that he was very much out of his depth.

Resigning himself to his fate, Jonathan picked up the items and put them in the sack then headed out to Maver Kesk's store to inquire about hiring a jeweler for a custom piece.

Maver tells Jonathan that he can do it. Jonathan sits with him to discuss the details. They haven't come to a conclusion when people start gathering in the area in front of the store which is also in front of the new cathedral. Maver says "Let us finish this later, the opening speeches will start soon."

Please do your final RP before opening speeches.

With his prayerful meditation and breakfast finished, Dart leaves both the cathedral and some bread crumbs behind as he heads back out into the heart of town. A festival, after all, is a great chance to make some connections, and just maybe, if Shelyn blesses him with good fortune, he might even run into Master Drokkus by sheer chance.

As he wandered, he passed several of the townsfolk bustling about in their preparations for the festival and in excitement for the games to begin.

A couple of children approached him, shyly and giggling, as he was walking and one asked, "Why do you have blue hair?"

Dart flashed the children a warm smile, squatted to be more on their level, and responded, "Shelyn loves all the colors of the rainbow, but I'm hoping blue's her favorite," and he gave them a little wink.

As the children giggled at the silly Half-Elf and ran off to enjoy more of their festival day, the Half-Elf mused, somewhat more seriously, Hopefully blue's her favorite color, then he slapped a showman's smile back on his face and continued on through town giving warm, amiable greeting to those he passed.

Poppy looks flustered... I better catch up with her, she says, excusing herself with a bow, and walking to catch up with her.

Father Zantus accepts Poppy's helm and takes it inside. By this time, the space in front of the cathedral is full of people. He tells Izumi "If you'll allow me, I'll introduce you to the town." Poppy finds that it is quite hard to locate Sid.

A great crowd is standing and talking with smiles on their faces. The smell of barbecue and ale is in the air as the lunch hour approaches and people get hungry. Mayor Deverin walks the steps to the cathedral and the chattering stops in deference. When she speaks, there is utter silence.

She says "Welcome dear Sandpointers and visitors! It has been a while since I've seen you so happy and it warms my heart. Are you having fun yet?" A few people cheer. She continues "Even our tanner Larz found the time to get out of work to the festival!" People laugh loosely. "Well, I tell you by day's end you'll have had so much fun, you'll remember this day forever! We have a lot of games around town, let me tell you what they are." She picks up a sheet of paper and announces "There is horseshoe throwing in Festival Street and in the Undercliff Way, there's an egg hunt going on to win this beautiful golden necklace! The eggs have only just now been placed, so if you've been searching until now, I'm sorry, but they weren't there." There are laughs and a few people look down embarrassed. She presents a sample egg, which is a chicken egg, painted apparently by children.

She goes on "Gorvi, our local garbage collector has set up a game of throwing junk towards the junk beach, although I'm sure he's just trying to get people doing his work for him." A roar of laughter ensues. Dolgrin recognizes the fat orc he saw before laughing as well. "There is a rat race going in the Rat Alley. Jargie from the Hagfish would like to remind everyone that Norah's challenge is still going on during the festival. Talking about the harbor, there's a race to be placed on the beach sand."

"Sadly, the Glassworks has not provided a game today. But, on Bishop Street, you can find a greasy pole to be climbed. Cydar Drokkus is also making a comedy competition in front of the theater! Last, but not least, there are two secret competitions which you're going to have to find... Now, only the egg hunt and the secret competitions have an actual prize, which are secret except for the golden necklace, but the winners of the other games will have bragging rights forever in Sandpoint!"

Mayor Deverin finishes saying "Tonight we have a bonfire right here in this square, and the whole town is decorated with beautiful lights and maybe fireworks... If you behave."

Games:
If you want to play any of the games, give me the following rolls:
Horseshoe throwing* is ranged touch attack with an improvised weapon. Roll three times.
Egg hunting is Perception. Roll three times. This game takes the whole day, so you won't be able to participate in any other games.
Throwing garbage is Strength check. Roll three times.
Rat race is Handle Animal. Roll three times.
Norah's challenge is to drink down a single tankard of the water of his hagfish, Norah. It costs a silver piece to try, but if you manage to, you'll get the bag full of coins. Succeed on a Fortitude saving throw DC 13 to win. Winning means earning 200sp. Failing means spending the rest of the day with the sickened condition.
Racing on the sand is 10 Constitution checks
Greasy pole*
is two Climb checks DC 20
Comedy competition is one Perform or Artistry check you find appropriate

You will have to find the secret games on your own if you want. Games with * can be played more than once, but no more than three times. There are other people wanting to play as well.

The mayor is cheered and applauded as she walks down the steps. Next comes the sheriff Hemlock who says briefly "Be safe around the bonfire. There will be no fighting in the festival and no trouble at all." People stop smiling with the sheriff's speech. He also says "I request a moment of silence in memory of our lost brothers and sisters who lost their lives in the fire that destroyed our previous church five years ago." After the minute of silence, the mayor comes back up and people look up expectantly. However she says "Our next speaker would be our own noble, Lonjiku Kaijutsu, but I have received word that he is ill and won't be able to come." People look at each other mumbling.

Sense Motive DC 10:
It isn't a surprise to the local people that Kaijutsu wouldn't come.

Sense Motive DC 12:
He isn't fond of festivities.

Next comes Cyrdak Drokkus, the towns showman who has been very busy lately. He says with a smirk "Well, what if our nobleman actually got lost on his way to town, I think that is possible, no?" The people laugh, apparently getting their spirits back up. He goes on "Well, gladly everyone here isn't sick. We're all ready to fight the Sandpoint devil, now aren't we?" Half the crowd screams 'Yes!' and the other half laughs.

Cyrdak doesn't let the ball drop "It's almost like the time that I didn't leave my house the whole day because I couldn't find my pants!" The crowd roars with laughter. He takes advantage of their attention and says "It's important to remember all the work of the fine people of Sandpoint and the years of labor which allowed us to build this cathedral. If not for our dedication, the contractor from..." He goes on to explain rather lengthly the process of rebuilding and collecting funds. In the end he says "And your work will all be rewarded by my own work. I am proud to finally announce that tomorrow night, there will be a new production of 'The Harpy's Curse', featuring none other than the Magnimarian diva Allishandra herself, as the harpy queen!"

After some applause by the crowd, Father Zantus steps up and pauses for a moment. Some apprehension builds until he finally says "Thank you all." He is clearly nervous. He says "Densa... I mean, Desna. Uhm... First fell to earth and was nursed to health by a blind child. Later she turned that child into an immortal butterfly." The crowd is unsure how to react to his nervousness. But then, from below him, a cart that was until now unremarkable, has a cover on top of it removed and thousands of colorful butterflies fly up into the air and the crowd is very excited. Children chase the butterflies and Father Zantus, more confident says "The consecration will be at sundown right here. Until then, lunch is free, provided by our inns! The Rusty Dragon is offering Ameiko's classic curry-spiced salmon and early winterdrop mead, the Hagfish is offering fresh lobster chowder and the White Deer is offering peppercorn venison. Finally, Cracktooth's tavern is offering their famous sausage with mashed potatoes and a special wine! Have fun everyone!"

The crowd disperses and starts enjoying the festival.

He had to admit: the mystery contests sounded interesting.

Maybe now would be a good time to mingle and see what he could learn about them.

That's it! Dart thinks, grinning to himself all the while. I'll take the stage for the comedy competition, show up the palrty talent of the local rabble, wow Master Drokkus, and have my place on Sandpoint's stage in no time! This plan is foolproof! I mean, normally I prefer dramas, but I can manage comedy. I am nothing if not versatile, and with that thought in mind, Dart set off to win the competition, deciding along the way which comedy routine to use.

Perform (Acting): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10

He decides to recite a bit of the comedic monologue delivered by the young squire Ulvian in the comedy "Ulliloft the Cunning," a play about a Half-Orc warrior who won through using brains, not brawn.

"A giant? Seriously? He thinks himself ready to fight a giant? A guy ant, maybe, but a gi-ant, no! And what is he? Just a Half-Orc. No no, I misspeak, more like a half dork. Is that green face from his Orc race or the sickness of fear sweeping over him? And sweeping him under the rug, perhaps? A foolish folly frought with fallacy, and I...will go with him. Who's the real fool now, Ulliloft? You, the Ulli-lofty hero, and I, the guy who carries your bag."

Dart finishes to some polite applause and thinks to himself, I am certainly better at drama.

Errata: Sorry Izumi!

Just before he finishes his speech Father Zantus adds "Before we leave, let me introduce you to Izumi Shinano! She is a priestess of Shizuru, and will aid the town in the serious matters, please welcome her!" People were already leaving the square, but most clap their hands.

Jonathan finds that most people are first spreading to the various taverns to try the foods, while many still buy snacks from the street vendors. After lunch, he asks around some and the best he manages to find out is that there are some other people also curious about the secret challenges. A group has been forming in front of the Pixie's Kitten, the local brothel, as they believe it has something to do with it.

Dart finds the corner of Festival Street and Raven Street in front of the Theater full of people. While there is always someone on stage, a lot of people are practicing their voices and expressions off-stage. When it's his turn, some people laugh as his performance, but they're eager to see the next one.

Dart only: Perception DC 18:
The famous Allishandra is disguised accross the street, watching.

Having finished his performance and taken his bows, Dart glances in the direction of Master Drokkus, but can't seem to read a reaction from the man. Dart lingers for a while after his performance watching a few of the performances, which he's certain are inferior to his own, and then gets bored and decides to wander the town for a bit. He can always wait to hear his name announced as winner of the competition later.

When do they announce the winners? And where? he ponders, realizing they'd either not announced it or he just hadn't listened. Therefore, he asks a member of the crowd before he leaves and then sets off.

Strolling through town, he notices a crowd gathering near a place called the Pixie's Kitten. Looks like some sort of tavern, he thinks. Wonder why Aneka didn't mention this one? And he moves closer to ask someone on the outskirts of the crowd about why they're gathering there. After all, if they simply need entertainment, he does happen to be the finest actor in Sandpoint.

She heads out into the bustling town.

"Gorvi's junk throwing should be fun! I've always had a good arm... or we can look to performers on the street... my, a lot of people are dressed even more colourfully than I", she says with a laugh.

She catches sight of Dart and smiles.

Jonathan gets to the gathering of people in front of the Pixie's Kitten before Dart. He gets to the group of people who are discussing who will get in to ask. None of them want to be given the task, as it would mean getting into the brothel.

Dart gets slightly afterwards.

Dart, you arrive just after Jonathan's reaction to the group.

Izumi (and Poppy if she follows) get to the garbage throwing area and there are some people trying to prove they are the strongest. They flex and take a while to throw. Gorvi watches entertained.

later, as she is hanging with Izumi she watches the dwarf toss some trash. actually impressed with the tossing.

Yeah, like she said. you throw hammers too? she asks a little enthusiastically.

Poppy even eyes the garbage a bit but she is far to busy looking for eggs to play any other games.

The fat half-orc is first silent as Izumi throws the heavy object into the sea, but the laughs obnoxiously as she fails to repeat the feat. Fortunately for her, none of the other contestants managed to throw even one piece that far. They mumble things like "Very well done, my fair lady." and "I'm sure you had divine help for that.", attempting at complements, but revealing their true feelings between the lines.

Next comes Dolgrin who, very proficiently, threw one piece who ended in the end of the beach and the other two which fell right in the water. Gorvi the half-orc stays silent and taciturn as everyone else claps and says loudly things like "Well done!" and "I knew he would make it, look at those arms!" Even one person says "I have many dwarf friends!" The comotion quickly draws the attention of bystanders, who are informed of the dwarf's feat. Two curious people also get informed of Izumi's power throw, but they don't come talk to her, like the others come congratulate the dwarf.

The woman who is apparently Kaye laughs loudly at Jonathan and Dart and says "Oh, men, always jumping to conclusions... Just because it is a brothel, doesn't mean that everything secret happens here. But, I happen to know what the secret challenges are. I even know what the secret prizes are! Now, if I tell you, what exactly do I get from it?"

The men outside of Kaye's brothel start to disperse, as they realize that they're not going to muster the courage to go in after all.

Poppy manages to find a lot of eggs during the day. As she delivers the eggs at the judge's table near the cathedral, she realizes that she was third place by the start of the afternoon. On the second time she went turn them in, she was second place. I'll announce the winner later.

Poppy:
Doing the egg hunt was one of the ways to find out one of the challenges. As you walk by the town bakery, Sandpoint Savories, there is a cookie eating contest (I swear it's a coincidence you proposed a pie eating contest). You can participate despite doing the egg hunt.

To win, succeed at a Will save DC 12 to keep eating, and then a Fort save DC 12 to keep it in. The prize is a Sustaining Spoon. If more than one player succeeds on the checks, the higher rolls win.

If you choose to participate, please do so in a spoiler to keep it as a surprise for the other players.

"My dear lady," Dart says, taking Kaye's hand and bowing grandly to her, "perhaps we were not so foolish after all in that we came where the most knowledgeable person in town was, and therefore, have a chance to learn of the secret challenges while those cowards outside are bound to wander aimlessly," and he makes a grand gesture towards the door where the gathered crowd is already dispersing.

"Now, as to the subject of price, I can easily see you are not wanting for wealth," and with this, he gestures around at the parlor of the brothel, "not do I think you really need pretty trinkets to set off your own unmistakable natural beauty," and he flashes her a smile of appreciation as he compliments her, "therefore, I will offer you what no other man can: my services. I am newly arrived from Absalom and happen to be the finest actor Absalom has produced in generations, if I do say so myself," he says with a modest gesture, "and I would be happily willing to take the stage and provide entertainment for your guests who await the services your employees provide or, since you like to deal in information, my performance generally take place in taverns which happen to be hotbeds of gossip. Perhaps my juiciest bits of gathered gossip will freely find their way to your ear?"

Dolgrin was a little surprised himself. He was never one for throwing things. But this wasn't a test of accuracy and his strong arms didn't disappoint.

But just as she is about to celebrate an early victory. She starts to look a little woozy.

I forgot to practice the second part she says as she covers her mouth to run off behind a building.

The faint sounds of a sick little girl are faintly heard in the distance, or perhaps just around the corner?

@Dart: Whether it is bluff or diplomacy, you need to figure out whether you intend to make good on your offer.

Kaye hears the offers. She muses with Dart's proposal and replies to him "Well, I'm not much of an information broker as you're proposing. But I am interested in your services to entertain my customers. I see much potential in that." Kaye seems to want to give the information to Dart, but she holds it to see her negotiations with Jonathan.

@Dart: By agreeing, you would be expected to perform for her customers who are almost all men. You figure that the performances would most likely be of sensual nature with the girls, sort of like marketing. If it works and you and Kaye are willing, you will be able to expand your clientele and offerings.

She turns to him and says "Well, you seem like a capable handsome young man. Your... 'friend' here offered services for the information. I know someone who would benefit from some convincing skills. You see, the sheriff needs help convincing the mayor to go to a sit down and discuss the town's guard and defenses. Would you be willing to help him do that?"

Knowledge local DC 12 (Jonathan may roll untrained):
Kaye and sheriff Hemlock are in a romantic relationship.

If Jonathan agrees:
Kaye says "Well, it turns out I may be an information broker after all" and laughs. She indicates that the bakery Sandpoint Savories is providing a cookie eating contest and the sage Brodert Quink has organized an obscure lore contest in his hut next to the lighthouse ruins.

The prize for the cookie eating contest is a magical spoon that fills itself with nourishment for four people every day, and the lore contest will reward the winner with some drops for the eyes that help them see better at night. It has five doses.

Izumi and Dolgrin find there are many places where they can enjoy a tankard, such as one of the inns. In any of them, there are some people drinking and having fun.

Poppy:
LoL I'll wait if anyone else wants to participate, then resolve your... uhm... participation.

Is Kaye making it clear to Dart that he'd be performing such acts? If so, he'd be disinclined to go along with it. He's never really been the "ladies man" type, and actually, has never been with a woman nor even had a romantic relationship.

@Dart: She is implying that, yes. But as I said, if you don't mean to go through with it, your Bluff bonus applies beautifully. If you do, you'd need the Diplomacy bonus, which would also yield a success. On the other hand, if you mean to clarify the situation, put other people to work and start a pimping career, who am I to say no?

"My dearest lady," Dart says, taking a gracious bow to try to help hide that he is trying desperately not to blush at the proposition he was just given, "while I am honored by your offer to perform in such a way, I am, sadly, not an actor who performs publicly in such a...carnal fashion, shall we say? I will leave you to your business with this fine gentleman and I shall simply continue to seek audience with Master Drokkus. Good day, my darling lady," he says taking her hand, bowing, and graces the back of her hand with a kiss.

If she tries to entice him with connections to Drokkus:
Dart stops on a dime and listens to her offer.

If she doesn't:
"Best of luck, friend!" Dart says to the other gentleman, then he walks out of the Pixie's Kitten having fully come to the realization that this is not just another tavern and it is suddenly much clearer why Aneka hadn't mentioned this one.

Hmm, on the subject of Aneka, I wonder if there are any more of those cookies left? Dart muses. Along the way, he remembers that there's some sort of egg hunt and puts some mild effort into looking around for eggs as he walks.

Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
Or, if I'm to make multiple checks...
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13

And at last, Dart arrived at the bakery not sure if there are cookies left or not, or even if the bakery is still open or if they've gone off to joining festival stuff or operate from another location, so didn't want to narrate that he got one and/or saw any familiar faces.

I originally posted this with him just leaving, but it occurred to me that she is probably well-connected and may dangle a Drokkus connection to entice our boy, so I gave you some options in spoilers.

Kaye looks surprised at Dart and watches him leave.

Dart:
As you get to Sandpoint Savories, there is a cookie eating contest. You arrive to see many people cheering at a gnome who has apparently gone sick.

Dart's Adventure for GM Anthorg:
Dart comes upon Sandpoint Savories to find that a cookie eating contest is underway. Aneka is busily moving about restocking the cookie supplies as is her sister.

Dart is mildly surprised he has forgotten the sister's name, Amera? Arika? Akira? Something not entirely unlike Aneka, but is pulled from his thoughts as Aneka's eyes meet his, she gives him a smile and waves him over to a platter of cookies a tells him, "Good luck," and gives him a smile before turning and heading back inside.

Exactly what I wanted! Dart thinks happily, as he begins munching on cookies. This whole festival things is pretty great, and he munches more cookies.

Will Save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25

Wow, that's a lot of cookies, he thinks, reaching for the platter again. Can't remember when I had quite this many sweets all at once...

Fort Save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22

Dart happily grabs cookie after cookie shoving them in his mouth and munching quite happily. He flashes Aneka a smile, his cheeks puffing out like a hamster, and she giggles. Finally, he reaches down again and finds the platter empty.

"Now that's what I call a splendid lunch!" Dart announces to the crowd of onlookers.

Once the deal has been struck, Jonathan kisses her hand then with a nod to Dart exits the building and heads into the city.

Jonathan enters a secret contest:

Jonathan heads towards Sandpoint Savories, intent on winning a useful magical tool. He enters the building and says that he's here for the "Cookie Special." that is one of my all time favorite minor magical items, btw.

Dart:
You easily eat more cookies than anyone has managed to, and you keep it all in. The reason you don't eat more is that there aren't enough cookies for you. You can tell that Aneka is very impressed and would come talk to you if she didn't have to go and bake more cookies.

Kaye replies to Jonathan "Oh, just do it sometime this week. I don't think the mayor will be doing any business today." After telling him what the contests are, which she probably heard from the sheriff, he goes on to one of them.

Jonathan:
To win in the cookie eating contest, succeed at a Will save DC 12 to keep eating, and then a Fort save DC 12 to keep it in. The prize is a Sustaining Spoon. If more than one player succeeds on the checks, the higher rolls win.

Currently, a gnome seems to have recently eaten too many cookies and been sick from it.

Dart and Jonathan:
Although Dart has already rolled for the cookie eating contest, Jonathan would have arrived earlier since Dart was just starting his egg hunt and wondered a bit before getting there, but Jonathan's post came after, so we'll see his results and RP accordingly.
