Batu "The Rock" |
Batu cares little that the psychotic kobold has gone invisible. He proceeds to gather more stone and launches it in the vicinity of where he last saw him.
Attacking Red(or Red in the space he was last seen)
Earth blast(bludgeoning) w/DA: 1d20 + 6 - 1 ⇒ (11) + 6 - 1 = 16
Damage: 2d6 + 11 ⇒ (5, 2) + 11 = 18
Miss chance: 1d100 ⇒ 12 Sorry, for the life of me I can NEVER remember which is a hit or a miss. Above or below 50%. Fortunately, it doesn't really matter with that pathetic 16 I threw out there. :P
Marioc of the Sea |
Marioc shoots at the leftover kobold, not caring much that the warlock disappeared.
Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
Damage: 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (6, 1) + 3 = 10
Nazard |
Batu’s rock finds nothing to hit, but Marioc does inflict some moderate frostbite on the blue kobold. High hits on miss chances.
Blue vs Batu: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 29
Blue vs Batu: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16
Damage: 1d4 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
Blue kobold stabs Batu again with his needle. Those two should really get a room.
Edgrin pops off a shot with his crossbow, but in his desire to miss Batu, he also misses the kobold.
Edgrin vs Blue: 1d20 + 6 + 1 - 4 ⇒ (9) + 6 + 1 - 4 = 12
Rao is up.
Marioc of the Sea |
Ok, I'll get to that.
Marioc tries to see where the chanting is coming from and throws some slippery goo on the floor.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
My logic is: If warlock falls, it definitively breaks his concentration.
Oryn Goldenstalk |
Oryn again summons the winds of Gozreh and swings with the swirling air blade at the blue kobold.
Kinetic Blade Air Blast attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18
Kinetic Blade Air Blast damage: 2d6 + 5 ⇒ (2, 5) + 5 = 12
Master Kylan |
Kylan took another step SE to get out of fireball formation, then erected a telekinetic cover on the south face of his square.
Perception to locate invisible enemy: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
Batu "The Rock" |
Yeah he's gonna have to eat it.
Batu decides to finish off the one kobold they can actually see so they can all fully concentrate on the invisible one.
Earth blast(piercing) w/DA: 1d20 + 6 - 1 ⇒ (12) + 6 - 1 = 17
Damage: 2d6 + 11 ⇒ (6, 1) + 11 = 18
AC 20; Hp's 22/42(2 NL); DR 2/adamantine
Rao Redflame |
With the fire shaking around his hands, Rao moves into his position, and lets loose a fan of fire from his hands that scorches most of the area in front of everyone.
_________________________________________
1:3:3 arrangement with the fan, hitting everything except for Blue and the square to the left of Blue
Fire: 2d6 + 1 ⇒ (4, 6) + 1 = 11
Nazard |
I didn’t get him on the map, but the chips you’re here to rescue is in the square two south of blue kobold. Assuming you wish to not broil the child alive, you can fill the entire right side of the room with fire, which will catch the kobold shaman.
Reflex: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
Concentration: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18
Invisibly, the kobold shaman cries out in both pain and frustration as his spell is skin burns and his spell is lost. Something grabs the catatonic boy and drags him up onto the altar.
Everybody is up. You still have a +1 bonus to attack and damage from Edgrin’s song. I put up a red square to show the area where the invisible kobold WAS when he was hit by Rao’s flame. No guarantee he’s still there. I also added a token for the kid (not the right but kid, but it’ll do).
Master Kylan |
Kylan abruptly dove south, rolling to his feet two squares from where he started.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20
He whipped his spear about at knee level through the spaces all around him, hoping to connect with the invisible foe.
Marioc of the Sea |
Marioc summons water to fall around the altar, hoping some will get on the warlock.
Using basic hydrokineticism to create water and a sudden waterfall to rebound on the dude.
Oryn Goldenstalk |
Noticing Kylan's spear stop its motion, Oryn sends a blast of air at that spot.
Miss chance: 1d100 ⇒ 53
Air blast attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16
Air blast damage: 2d6 + 7 ⇒ (4, 5) + 7 = 16
Rao Redflame |
With a general idea of where the kobold was, Rao let the others continue, and started to pull the fire in again. It took a lot to manage what he did, but all he needed was a decent opportunity— provided the others did not conclude this conflict before then.

Batu "The Rock" |
Taking advantage of the kobold's known location, Batu quickly calls forth more stone and launches it in said direction.
Earth blast(bludgeoning) w/DA: 1d20 + 6 - 1 ⇒ (4) + 6 - 1 = 9 Ugh.

Nazard |
Miss Chance: 1d100 ⇒ 2
Edgrin lunges at the empty square with his rapier, but fails to find anything to stab.
The invisi-bold lays the boy out in a sacrificial posture, ready to complete his grisly ritual!
You're all up. The kobold may have since moved, but I'll leave him there so you know where it was you had previously found him.
Marioc of the Sea |
"Oh no you don't!", Marioc says as he rushes towards the invisible kobold to try and tackle him.
I guess this is a bull rush attempt?
Miss chance (low hits): 1d100 ⇒ 47
Bull rush: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8 Doh
Master Kylan |
Kylan stepped SW to get a clear line of sight and waived his hand. Currents of aether hurled a brass oil lamp at where he thinks the invisible kobold.
telekinetic blast (ranged touch), point blank shot, inspire courage: 1d20 + 5 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 5 + 1 + 1 = 17 for a possible 2d6 + 6 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (2, 3) + 6 + 1 + 1 = 13 kinetic damage.
Miss Chance: 1d100 ⇒ 51
Batu "The Rock" |
Batu continues to attack the spot where he believes the kobold to be.
Earth blast(bludgeoning) w/DA: 1d20 + 6 - 1 ⇒ (8) + 6 - 1 = 13
Damage: 2d6 + 11 ⇒ (2, 5) + 11 = 18

Nazard |
Kylan’s shot through the kobold’s last space clearly finds nothing to hit, which suggests that the shaman has moved from there.
Oryn Goldenstalk |
Oryn will move to the west of Edgrin with his arms out swinging them back and forth in an effort to locate the invisible kobold. He will move forward until he bumps into something he cannot see continuing until he gets to the west of Kylan. If he bumps into something, he will attempt to grapple with the beast.
miss chance: 1d100 ⇒ 73
grapple check: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Rao Redflame |
while Rao was pulling the fire in, without a target, it was going to be a wild shot, and there were too many others nearby for him to want to risk it. So instead he stepped forward and attempted to pull the child off of the altar to safety.

Nazard |
Rao yanks the boy onto the floor as Edgrin restarts his inspire courage song.
”Noooo!!! You ruin everything!” a voice hisses from atop the altar.
Attack: 1d20 + 6 + 1 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 6 + 1 + 4 = 25
Damage: 1d3 + 2 + 1d6 ⇒ (1) + 2 + (2) = 5
The kobold suddenly appears as he swipes at Rao. He hits the man, but it’s just a scratch and a small burn.
Everyone’s up.
Oryn Goldenstalk |
"But ruining the plans of evil kobolds is what we do." Oryn says in response to the suddenly appearing creature. "May the storm of Gozreh pummel you."
Oryn again summons the winds of Gozreh and sends a blast of air at the now visible evil doer.
Air Blast attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24
Air Blast damage: 2d6 + 7 ⇒ (3, 6) + 7 = 16
Master Kylan |
Kylan waived his hand. Currents of aether hurled a large black candle (still lit) at the kobold.

Marioc of the Sea |

Nazard |
Air and ice slam into the kobold shaman, sending him toppling to the ground behind the altar.
”You fools! You have …brought doom upon …you all,” the kobold gasps before the death rattles take him.
The last remaining child appears to have only surface wounds, but the trauma of the past few days has set into his eyes, and you see a broken spirit within. He doesn’t acknowledge you and has to be led by the hand to even stand or walk.
Congratulations! You have successfully completed Book 2, The crown of the Kobold King. Do we wish to continue with this series? If so, you’ve just gained level 4.
Nazard |
Leading the rescued children up and out of the ruined monastery, with your halfling sidekick Edgrin, you make your way back towards Falcon's Hollow. Knowing that the kobold bridge has been destroyed, you follow a very similar path to that the original heroes took after returning from the monastery with the cure to the Blackscour Taint what seemed like forever ago (though was really less than a month). You bypass the strange witch's hut, but swing by the colossal darkwood tree for a rest.
Approaching the massive tree, you see that you might not be the only denizen of the forest with a similar idea: a humanoid figure lies resting its back against the massive trunk. The creature fails to acknowledge any hails or friendly greetings.
Master Kylan |
On seeing the person sitting with his back to the trunk, Kylan gestured towards it with his cigar.
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
"Is that anyone we should know?" He asked blandly.
Oryn Goldenstalk |
Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 10 = 22
"I don't know, but it has some kind of hooves for feet. Perhaps it is some kind of Satyr. Do you ever remember meeting a Satyr?"
Rao Redflame |
As confident as ever Rao grinned, feeling better about being back under the open sky. "Nor I, but I am all for changing that!" Approaching a few feet(10) to set himself slightly apart from the group, he calls out a greeting to get their attention.
"Ho there! Big fan, got a moment?"
When attempts fail to elicit a response, Rao tries pulling fire out of the air(Gather Power), and then shrugs, turning back to Kylan. "Master Kylan, not that I'm fearing the worst precludes us, but are you capable of giving the individual a spot of healing as a curiosity? After all, attacks return hostility, but a spot of healing should elicit a smile, you figure?"

”I’ll give you a hand,” Edgrin says, going up with Kylan.
Closer, it is clearly some sort of satyr, with a hooded cloak pulled up over its head. Edgrin gently taps the satyr on the shoulder and when that fails to waken it, grabs its shoulder to roll it over, suddenly letting out a shout of disgust. The satyr’s face and neck are covered with pale white pustules. Edgrin frantically wipes his hands off in the grass and leaves. The satyr is definitely deceased.
Master Kylan |
"Ah, no. Poor bastard." Said Kylan sadly as he knelt next to the figure.
First he reached out and gave the figure Sacred Touch, which would automatically stabilize a dying creature merely by touching it. Just in case.
Next he gingerly examined the figure as to the cause of death.
Heal: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (15) + 10 = 25 +3 to that if it involves poison.
Rao Redflame |
As Edgrin jumps back, Rao sighs. "...I'm really not supposed to be right like this..." Shifting the energy that he had gathered briefly into himself, raising his body temperature to almost harmful levels, he shook his head and started to remove any excess items that he did not need to examine the satyr.
"Does anyone have a spare pair of gloves?" Rao looked around to grab a stick to try to examine the deceased creature.
_____________________________
Heal: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19(Assisting)
Master Kylan |
"Aye, he had the pox. An' conagious it be, so keep yer distance." Said Kylan seriously. He took what hygenic steps he could to avoid catching whatever it was and/or transmitting it to his companions. (I also have force ward running, if that will help in this case.)
Heal: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 18
Rao Redflame |
Retreating and making sure there is nothing on the creature from a visual inspection, Rao gathers flames to himself before setting the body aflame with a handful of fire petals. Remaining nearby, but upwind, Rao watches to make sure that the fire does not burn anything other than the body and its possessions.
Nazard |
Between Kylan levitating the body and Marioc dousing the surrounding area with water, Rao is able to safely burn away the contaminated satyr corpse, and you can continue on your way.
After camping out for an evening, you arrive back in Falcon’s Hollow the next day. Though many people ignore you as normal, some stop what they’re doing and stare as you escort the rescued children. Clearly word of their disappearance had made its way partially through the town. One tough-looking man takes one look and dashes off towards the hill and the posh residences up there.
Where do you go? The inn (Goose ‘n Gander)? Laurel’s? Stay in the square? You’re not sure where any of these children live, though word seems to be spreading of your return on its own.
Master Kylan |
"Let's linger in the square a bit." Said Kylan to the others.
Piping up , Kylan shouted to the crowd.
"I say, is anyone missing any children?"
Perform (Oratory): 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13
Oryn Goldenstalk |
"OK, but if no one comes looking for these children, perhaps we should return to the inn. I'd rather get them inside and maybe some food."
Rao Redflame |
Rao is intent becoming a fixture at the inn whenever the opportunity arises. However, Kylan's idea is not a terrible one, so while they waited, he shared some of his (better)rations with those that looked hungry. "We are pretty notorious at this point... Let's put them up and get them settled." Rao was tired of camping, and being this close to the inn was weighing on him. A bath, food that was not rations, and a distinct lack of threats to his life was something that sounded like bliss.
After all, his clothes were worn and damaged— though the armor was holding up nicely– and being able to shed the effects of what they had undergone seemed like an excellent plan. No doubt there would be nightmares, though. There always were.
Nazard |
It isn’t long before a woman in her early thirties comes running into the square in front of the inn. ”Kimi!” she shouts, and the two embrace with tears. The woman holds her daughter for a good long while, before extracting herself to thank your group, shaking hands vigorously, though when she gets to Rao, she does pause and exchange some of her exuberance for coyness.
”I’m Kitani. I can’t thank you enough for finding my daughter and bringing her home.” She stops to look at Rao again. ”If there’s ever something I could do to show how grateful I am, please don’t hesitate to find me. Kimi’s father would also offer his thanks, but of course, he’s been away for a very long time. Very long.”
It’s not long after Kitani leaves with Kimi before a dour man in black robes appears. He introduces himself as Sharvaros, Savram’s father and a local wizard. He offers to thank you by identifying any magical gear you have. He takes Savram home as a man in a blood-stained apron rushes onto the scene. Mika’s father Colbrim, a local butcher, jovially offers you all free meat for life.
A woman in her late-teens, wearing a thick heavy robe, arrives to claim the catatonic Hollin. The robe fails to completely disguise the shocking lack of clothing she is otherwise wearing, strongly suggesting she is in the employ of one of Falcon’s Hollow’s pleasure dens. As she leads Hollin tearfully away, trying in vain to get her brother to say something, a luxurious black carriage arrives down from the upper part of town. A driver and a tough sit up in the driver’s seat, while another tough hangs off the back.
”Jurin, get in boy,” the driver barks, and the youth obeys. ”You lit were the ones that found Jurin and brought him home? Jurin’s pa would like to thank you with a banquet in your honour at Kreed Manor this evening. Seven o’clock. Don’t be late.” The driver waits long enough for you to agree to come before heading back up the hill.
