Marioc of the Sea
|
Without paying attention to his allies, Marioc continues to furiously fling ice at the (red) kobold.
Attack: 1d20 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 - 4 = 9
Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Nazard
While a 9 would have missed, Marioc no longer has cover penalties, since he’s now in front, so the freezing ray hits the dazed sorcerer.
The sorcerer once again shakes the daze off. His friend continues his attack on Batu, just missing as Batu ducks at the last second.
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
Edgrin recasts his spell, redazing Kerrdremak.
Will: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
You’re all up. Maybe hit them this time?
Master Kylan
Kylan turned his hand towards Rao and fired a golden green healing blast to heal him 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10 and also inflicting 1 burn and 2 nonlethal damage on him as well.
Rao Redflame
(4 hp)
A wince and a groan was Rao's response to his return. There had been... nothing after that blast of fire. and now he was at the rear? Not good. There were still sounds of fighting, so there was that, but that feeling of being hit by a hot pillow stuck with him.
"Right... Um, thanks." He staggered to his feet, uncertain, but the fight was not over. Thinking a bit more, he moved around the corner to get out of the way of the others, but could not muster any flame for now.

Marioc of the Sea
|
Marioc, feeling confident, starts flinging more ice at the same target.
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Batu "The Rock"
Batu continues to trade attacks - attacks that continually find a way to never connect with either - with the kobold.
Earth blast(slashing) w/DA: 1d20 + 4 - 1 ⇒ (10) + 4 - 1 = 13
Damage: 1d6 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11
Welp, look at the bright side. I FINALLY made it to double digits on my roll. That's my second one over my past 7 rolls(including this one). Geez what a beating.
And boy o boy did wearing that armor just barely pay off or what?! That's pretty cool.
AC 20; Hp's 26/28
Oryn Goldenstalk
With Rao up and moving, Oryn sends a blast of air at the closest (red) kobold.
Air Blast attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
Air Blast damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Air Blast confirm: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21
Air Blast critical damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Nazard
Oryn's blast of air slams into the sorcerer, depriving him of even the chance to whine about how unfair it is as the gust of wind snaps his neck back, and he crumples to the ground.
The final kobold doesn't like the look of his chances, but it seems that surrender isn't in the cards as he continues to swing at Batu, in ever more desperate circles.
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
Your combined efforts will be enough to put down the last warrior, however, as you can't all continue to miss him forever.
The mooks have nothing on them, unless you need more javelins.
The dagger warrior has his unusual weapon (a dagger on the end of a chain, definitely an exotic weapon, which has ten-foot reach and threatens adjacent). It's sized for small wielders, however, so not much use to you (technically, all the javelins you've been using should have been small-user size, but we can handwave that). He also has two doses of centipede poison remaining and two vials of cure light wounds potions.
Kerrdremak has a MW club, also small-sized but good for Edgrin, 3 vials of cure light wounds potions, a tanglefoot bag, and three pieces of finely-polished obsidian worth 50 gp total.
I assume some of you drink some potions, and then...?
Master Kylan
Kylan turned his hand towards Oryn and fired a golden green healing blast to heal him 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7 and also inflicting 1 burn and 2 nonlethal damage on him as well.
Marioc of the Sea
|
Marioc shakes his right arm from the repeated motion of throwing ice at kobolds. He watches Kylan's healing a little light-headed. He takes out his water skin and gulps a little too long before saying "Those potions over there might be useful. Maybe we want to preserve master Kylan's energy." He looks around trying to get ready to move on, but he enjoys resting a little while the others sort the findings out.
Batu "The Rock"
"I have got potions if any are in need. I have several actually. Anyone?" Batu offers.
Also, instead of healing Oryn and him taking burn damage, would you rather have a potion? Looks like we found a few and Batu has 4. So we could do that instead if y'all want. Just thought I'd throw that out there.
Rao Redflame
"Any healing offered would be most excellent."
Rao was leaning on the wall in relief, certainly having seen better days— this morning was excellent, in fact, then they left civilization behind– taking stock of his injuries and the state of his clothing. It was a relief that he was not too badly burned, having reflexively shielded his face from the sprays of fire.
His boots and armor were going to require some special care, however.
"Injuries such as this are..." plucking at his attire and trying to suppress a wince at the motion, he sighed in dismay. ... new to me."
Master Kylan
"Nae laddie; potions 'r best saved fer in combat." Commented Kylan.
Kylan turned his hand towards Rao and fired a golden green healing blast to heal him 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7 and also inflicting 1 burn and 2 nonlethal damage on him as well.
Oryn Goldenstalk
Oryn was familiar with being tired, having to work in the fields planting, weeding, harvesting. He knew that Kylan healing more of his wounds would only intensify the feeling, but he also knew that a good nights rest would alleviate him of that feeling.
"Kylan is right, we have a limited number of those potions. Unless I am mistaken, you can keep healing us with that green blast of yours; right Kylan? Please send another one my way if you please."
Master Kylan
"Aye laddie; as long as someone pays the burn, I can heal all day." Kylan confirmed.
Kylan again fired a golden green healing blast to heal Oryn 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8 and also inflicting 1 burn and 2 nonlethal damage on him as well.
Oryn Goldenstalk
"Thanks Kylan, I feel completely healed and ready to go find any more lost children."
Oryn turns to Edgrin
"So, where do you go next?"
Nazard
Edgrin indicates the north door. "We came in from there. There's a shaft that leads down and a tunnel off to the right, I think."
You open the door to reveal a short hallway leading into a chamber. You can't see if there's a tunnel, but you can definitely see the shaft in the centre of the room...the shaft guarded by five kobolds who are obviously waiting for you (they heard your battle through the door). The four flanking the hallway each through a javelin at Batu, while the fifth (red) barks orders as he looses his own version of that chain dagger weapon.
Javelin: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
Javelin: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Javelin: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
Damage: 1d6 - 1 ⇒ (2) - 1 = 1
Javelin: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
Initiative:
Batu: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Marioc: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Master Kylan: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Oryn: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
Rao: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
Kobold Mooks: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Kobold Commander: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22
The commander delays, meaning you're all up next.
Oryn Goldenstalk
"Geez, how many of these nasty critters are down here?"
Oryn will send a blast at the closest kobold yellow
Air Blast attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Air Blast damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Master Kylan
Kylan thrust forth a hand and caused currents of aether to loft a dust covered shoeshine box lying forgotten in a corner into the air and fling itself at mister yellow.
telekinetic blast: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10 for a possible 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7 kinetic damage.
Batu "The Rock"
Batu draws one of his many javelins and throws it at yellow.
Javelin w/DA: 1d20 + 4 - 1 ⇒ (5) + 4 - 1 = 8

Cohesion was difficult to manage at such small targets, so Rao instead did what he could to help the next attack.

Nazard
Seeing that the mountain isn’t coming to them, the kobold commander barks a single word, the Draconic word for ‘box’, and the kobolds begin to move together. Two kobolds form a line in front of Oryn and Batu while the other two form a rear wall ten feet back. The kobold commander slips forward into the middle space and attacks with his reach weapon.
Mook vs Oryn: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Mook vs Batu: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
Commander vs Oryn: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
Oryn takes a nasty spear thrust, and it becomes clear that these kobolds are much more skilled of fighters than the ones you’ve fought previous.
Everybody is up.
I’m afraid aid another in combat doesn’t work like that. It requires you to threaten, in melee, the enemy you are aiding against. If you’d like to swap that out for an attack or a delay, feel free.
Oryn Goldenstalk
Oryn takes a step back and launches another Air Blast at the yellow kobold.
Air Blast attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
The blast goes high and Oryn makes a whispered sound: $#!&
Batu "The Rock"
Batu returns to attacking with his greatest ally, the earth.
Attack yellow. Just gonna deal with the AoO's.
Earth blast(bludgeoning) w/DA: 1d20 + 4 - 1 ⇒ (6) + 4 - 1 = 9
Damage: 1d6 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13
What makes it even worse is that even without the -1, I'm still not hitting. Pretty pathetic. Well, I guess if you're gonna miss, miss big.

Rao Redflame
Realizing something about the hallway, Rao moved forward into the corner, and yelled to everyone, "Back up! when they leave the hallway, we can fight them!"

Master Kylan
Master Kylan thrust forth a hand and caused currents of aether to loft a weighty long forgotten elf to orc dictionary into the air and fling itself at mister yellow.
telekinetic blast: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6 for a possible 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7 kinetic damage.
Then he took a step back.
Marioc of the Sea

Did the kobold that fell manage to get up and move through the Grease? It matters for me to decide if I keep the Grease rolling or not.
Marioc steps back as per the flame thrower's instructions, but he still fires ice at the commander.
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Nazard
I'm going to assume that Batu also followed the plan and stepped back.
You pull back slightly and the kobolds move forward, the yellow one getting a small singe from Rao's fire. One of the rear kobolds also steps up to the front, but his friend stays in formation. Being dazed, the commander doesn't move forwards.
Three kobold spears stab, one each for Oryn, Batu, and Edgrin. None of them are any more successful than you.
Attack Oryn: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Attack Batu: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Attack Edgrin: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Edgrin takes a step back and recasts his spell this time on pink kobold, dazing him.
Will: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Just remembered that once you fail against daze, you're immune for 1 minute.
Kimi moves forward, brandishing her club, and before anybody can say anything, takes a swing at pink kobold.
Attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
Everybody is up.
2, 4, 5, 5, and 7. Wow! It's no fair when the bad rolls rub off on me, too!!!
Oryn Goldenstalk
Oryn will take another step back and send another blast at the yellow kobold.
Air Blast attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
This time the blast goes wide and Oryn cries "C'mon!".
Master Kylan
Master Kylan maneuvered around to the right in a flanking move. He thrust forth a hand and caused currents of aether to loft a folding chair into the air and fling itself at mister pink.
telekinetic blast: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10 for a possible 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8 kinetic damage.
Batu "The Rock"
"Do not despair, Oryn Goldenstalk!" he calls out, smiling wide. "We are simply luring them in to a false sense of security! And they have fallen for our clever trap! Is it not fantastic?!" he asks rhetorically, throwing more earth at the enemy.
Attack pink

Reflex: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11 Yellow kobold catches fire. He spends this round rolling around trying to put the flames out. If Batu has a weapon in hand, he can take an AoO (javelins are improvised melee weapons, -4 to hit). Batu would also get an AoO against light blue if he chose not to attack yellow, or if he has Combat Reflexes.
Reflex: 1d20 + 1 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 1 + 4 = 16 Success, but he's now prone.
