Edgrin begins to sing again and finishes reloading his crossbow.

The latest arrival’s toad partially descends the wall, putting Kylan in range of its rider’s TWO flying talons. One scores a nasty gash while the other glances harmlessly off the hardened goo.

Everybody is up! The new red kobold is on a toad and is 5 feet off the floor.

Can I help Kylan putting slick on him to disentangle him?

Nope. Technically, he isn’t actually entangled, it’s just easiest to say entangled to get the effect. He’s in brute strength territory now to free himself.

Marioc continues shooting trying to get the enemy down.

Oryn takes aim at the kobold rider and sends a blast of air his way.

Oryn will glance back at Batu and if he doesn't show any sign of moving, Oryn will use his move action to move in front of Kylan.

Toad, sry

A few steps and a burst of fire sent a blast that bloomed like a rose on the toad, but unfortunately, it was not sticky, and went wide in trying to not hit his companions.

Marioc and Oryn pummel the toad and rider with elemental energy, though neither comes tumbling down quite yet.

Batu is left to act.

The kobold rider is looking very hurt, but he makes one final flurry of swipes at Kylan.

The kobold rider delivers another deep cut on Kylan, which it’s toad just misses Marioc with a hock of slime.

"Augh!" Kylan cried out as he took another hit.
Grimacing, he gave up trying to escape for the moment.
Concentrating, he raised a hand and caused currents of aether to loft a discarded iron shod dwarf boot at Mister Red.
telekinetic blast (ranged touch), point blank shot: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 5 + 1 = 23 for a possible 2d6 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (2, 1) + 6 + 1 = 10 kinetic damage.
Boot to the head!

The kobokd’s head snaps back and he hangs from the toad’s back, his weapons clattering to the ground below. Between the rest of you, you can also kill the toad then scrape the hardened goo off of folks.

Nothing else seems to be coming for you at the moment.

In the aftermath of the battle, Marioc is self-conscious about his loud breathing. He relaxes a bit and says "Wow, we're lucky that we're all standing. There were far too many kobolds this time."

After a while regaining his breath, he starts checking the kobold commander for his gear.

Kylan groused as he used the butt of his spear to break apart the hardened glue fixing him in place.

Pleased that Kylan is free from the guck that ensnared him, Oryn moves to the west searching the room's floor, ceiling, rocks, etc. for any other threats or things of value.

As everyone dropped their guard some what from the fight, Rao let out a long sigh before almost flopping backwards onto the remains of a charred kobold. It was a near certainty that he would not be sleeping well for a while, though. Since it seemed like they had a moment, he took a minute to examine the wounds that had been inflicted, and try to so something about them before resorting to other means. The armor was certainly doing its job, and none were directly life-threatening.

"We won't be taking on an army next, will we?", he joked.

Grimacing slightly, Kylan laid hands upon himself. A golden green healing radiance sank into him to heal 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 2) + 6 = 14 and also inflicting 1 burn and 3 nonlethal damage on him as well.
Sighing with relief, he looked around at his companions.
"Anyone need a bit 'o healin'?" He asked politely.
"Marioc? Rao? Ye look a bit rough there."

Marioc says hesitantly "Actually, I am a little hurt."

Searching the room and bodies reveals little of interest. The dual-wielding flying talon warrior had his two flying talons, both masterwork, and two potions of barkskin.

With the patching up finished (feel free to heal Marioc as well), you press on towards the northwest corridor, which winds and twists before opening up into large chamber with partially worked walls inlaid with obsidian and gold. Here stands the the Crawling Throne of Merlokrep.
The Kobold King’s throne is crafted from the corpse of a monstrous centipede. The massive vermin is propped up against the wall here
on a dais of stone blocks, its legs curling in around any who sit upon it like leveled arm rests. Sitting in the throne is a paragon of kobold physique, his powerhouse frame belying the usual assumptions about his pathetic reptilian race. The king has one good eye, smoldering with rage at your intrusion, while the other is covered by the jeweled skull of an infant kobold. A battle axe, faintly glowing with a light of its own, lays across his lap.

The kobold king grasps his axe as he stands to address you in Common. "Hail to you, Pink-Skinned Long Legs of Might and Power. I am your king, the great Merlokrep the First. I offer you honoured places as Great Sacrifices to the Crown. We will feast you with our finest meats and toast you with our finest drinks, then rip you open to cut out your still-beating hearts to sacrifice for the glory of the Bloodscales tribe."

Poorly managing to give his wounds the appropriate care, Rao nodded in acceptance at Kylan's offer, unable to treat his wounds adequately. "If it would not be an impostion." A slight snort of amusement gave a bit of lightness to the thought of mortal wounds. "I do make a fairly tempting target, I suppose."

Later:
Upon arrival and seeing their... King? Rao could appreciate the splendor that was being displayed, and the compliment being given— if a bit undesirable, was still flattery. "That's quite the... compliment, I suppose."

"Compliment?!? Cutting out our still beating hearts? Nah, I don't think so."

Oryn looks over the large kobold and attempts to determine any weaknesses the creature might have.

Looking a might confused, "Ummmmm, I do not believe you are our king, sir. I'm fairly certain there is another that is king. Could you please hold on a moment? Thank you."

He then turns to the others, "Would someone please tell me what those glowing runes that are placed in front of those guards and the ones leading up the steps to the throne are? Should they be avoided or could they possibly be beneficial to us?" he asks, quite curious.

Only a few people can see into the room as of yet, unless folks would care to move further in...

Kylan nodded at Rao and laid hands on him. A golden green healing radiance sank into Rao to heal 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 1) + 6 = 13 hp; also inflicting 1 burn and 3 nonlethal damage on him as well.

Marioc says to Batu, completely ignoring his question "Why are you being so nice to this overgrown lizard? We should slap some sense into him!"

"I don't see any children in there, maybe we should search for them elsewhere."

Oryn whispers to Kylan/Marioc "He might follow us and we can ambush them in the cave we just came from."

Kylan, unable to see forward anyway, nodded at Oryn. He pushed his way back into the previous cavern, concentrated and set up his south faced square with a semitransparent Kinetic Cover; a wall 5' wide, 10' high and looking something like a lava lamp.
The wall has hardness 0, AC 5 and 6hp.

Marioc says to Batu, completely ignoring his question "Why are you being so nice to this overgrown lizard? We should slap some sense into him!"

Pondering that a moment, Batu eventually grins. "Because you just never know how one might respond to kindness. Plus, I find kindness to be more pleasing for the soul. Anger just always seems to make one bitter and because of that, it wears one down mentally and emotionally. And THAT is no fun AT ALL, trust me," he says with an emphatic nod, grinning still.

Rao nodded, giving an agreeing sound as he was fiddling with a bit of a flame in the palm of his hand, working on the shaping of the fire. It was a flickering thing, shaping it against its natural tendency to float up. "Agreed. After all, we all still may decide to attempt to kill each other, but there's no reason that we can't be civilized about it."

Batu's words go completely against what he learned from his life in the sea. To him, if one chooses to be disrespectful, then they deserve what's coming to them. But given that he is so far away from the sea, he stays silent, letting the others do some talking.

Merlokrep grounds the axe head against the floor, looking as proud and as regal as a kobold can. "You are not grateful for this opportunity to bring strength to the Bloodscale Kobolds?" the kind exclaims, seeming shocked that you aren't falling all over yourselves to offer your lives as sacrifices. Perhaps we can do without feasting, and just get to the sacrificing! Guards! Kill them and bring them to me alive!"[/b]

The guards for their part, don't appear confused by the bizarre order and unlimber their flying talons.

Initiative:

Merlokrep chants a few syllables and waves his hand. Bright flashes of colour sweep forward between his guards and catch Marioc, Batu, and Oryn. Will save DC 14 or be blinded and stunned for 1d4 ⇒ 3 rounds.

Kylan, I'm not sure what your intention is in the other room, but you have time to put up another two barriers before you hear the sounds of mayhem in the throne room. Unfortunately, Merlokrep is just too mentally unstable to allow anybody to ignore him for long.

Kylan, Oryn, and Rao are up next.

Despite the pretty colors, Marioc manages to avert his eyes in time and coughs, even though there is no dust. This dramatic display makes him slow to react to the fight.

Oryn averts his eyes just in time to avoid the bright flashes. He quickly launches a blast of air at the yellow kobold.

Kylan idly raised another few barriers, making a long wall, when the roar of combat echoed through the tunnel behind him.
Torn, he debated going back, but he knew the tunnel would be clogged for now. So he stood where he was and raised another barrier.

With a couple seconds to pull the embers into his hand, and then a casual wave, Rao sent a scattering of fire petals to drift onto the kobold to the right of the King. A shake of his head accompanied the gesture and a sigh. "So be it."

Yellow reaches out and slashes at Oryn, but rather than trying to do damage, the kobold snags the weapon on Oryn's gear and with an impressive yank, hauls him forward five feet. The ground beneath his feat explodes in acid as he triggers the rune there.

Acid damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9 Reflex Save DC 15 for half

Blue: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
Blue attempts the same trick against Marioc, but fails.

Edgrin begins his familiar battle hymn, granting the +2 bonuses to attack and damage.

Batu and Marioc left to go.

Marioc throws a gathering of slime at the king's axe.

Reflex: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22

Merlokrep nimbly avoids getting Marioc's slimy goo on his precious and deadly glowing axe.

Reflex DC 15: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11

The unusual tactic of being pulled into his opponent affects Oryn as he is unable to dodge the burst of acid spewing from the rune on the floor.

Batu chunks a mighty plethora of rubble at king kobold.

That should have read +1 bonuses to attack and damage from Edgrin, not 2. Sorry.

King kobold would have batted away Batu's pathetic pebbles with a maniacal laugh, but instead it turns out that the geokineticist is currently blinded and standing in his own drool.

Round 2

The king chants some more and this time, two glowing orbs of bright light streak across the short distance and slam into the injured Oryn. Fortunately, this pair don't seem to have much punch to them.

Damage: 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (2, 1) + 2 = 5

Kylan, Rao, and Oryn are up. Oryn, you are currently unimpeded by anything (the weapon isn't still attached to you).

The air begins to swirl around Oryn once again. The sound of a miniature storm surrounds the farm boy as he gathers power. The air forms a funnel that Oryn welds as a weapon which he swings at the kobold that pulled him in.

Kinetic Blade Air Blast damage: 2d5 + 5 ⇒ (3, 3) + 5 = 11

The yellow kobold goes down from the force of Oryn’s air club.

Seeing that his trick didn't work, he focuses on attacking the nearby kobold. He shoots a freezing bolt at him.

Damage: 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (3, 1) + 2 = 6

As the flames were pulled in to his hand, a gesture flung the petals out to drift over to the king, settling like combustible butterflies and catching fire.

The king is scorched but does not catch fire. Kylan continues to place barriers, closing off the passageway and preventing any kobolds from hitting your rear.

Blue vs Marioc: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
Blue kobold attempts again to pull Marioc into a symbol trap and again fails. Marioc takes a step back and nails him with a ray of cold.

Batu is still stunned.

The king casts a spell, and his already impressive (relatively-speaking) musculature ripples and expands further.

Oryn, Kylan, and Rao are up.

King: -8
Blue: -18

Kylan watches the party's rear, defending from sneak attacks from that way. He also keeps an ear out for the party, just in case his healing abilities are needed.
