I'll get a post up now. Had a busy weekend, but in a good way. We finally started having our Sunday TTRPG in person again. We're playing Warhammer Fantasy. Saturday was just a lot of cleaning up outside the house and yard. Plus using several cans of wasp spray because those things are really bad this year. followed by playing Cataan. I love that game.

Sounds busy! I've played Cataan before with a house show band who stayed with us. My old roommates liked playing that game too. I've never tried Warhammer. I do know some people who really are obsessed with it, but I've never given it a try. It seems really tactical and complicated.

There is nothing like a house free of guests! But perhaps that's my reclusive side speaking out. I love company, but to have one's house to one's self is a great joy.
Not sure why we are posting in the recruitment thread?

I saw your post about finding the alchemist first, but then Selkyon asserted that we start with looking for the lost pouches again after that. To be fair, it is evening. I doubt we'd find many shops open, that is why Pelipe supported the move to investigate the carnival workers while they were still there. I think where you got confused might be where Pelipe said to visit the "shops". She meant the carnival merchant shops that have the dress she wanted to buy. Perhaps you interpreted it as the tailor/alchemist shops?
I've deleted a couple of posts, trying to figure the best way to respond.
Ivar was intentionally going back to town to find the alchemist. He believes finding the person who made the chemicals was more important than finding the purses. I thought that was clear in his earlier posts. I apologize that I didn't talk more about it or discuss clearly that he wanted to go to town instead of staying in the carnival.
My frustration is that his actions weren't addressed or questioned, just that they were ignored and a separate set of actions were narrated for the group, thus removing player autonomy.
I don't like splitting the party nor the tension this sort of thing can cause, so let's please continue the game as it is now narrated. I will try and be very clear communicating intent for both 'players and characters' and ask that others do so as well.

I'm sorry that we didn't react adequately to your suggestions, Ivan. This module is sure difficult to figure out, it goes all over the place, and it can be a challenge to plan where to go next while staying RP (as you said, what a character would consider a priority based on their wants or beliefs might not be what's best for the party to do).
I've played Selkyon as feeling strongly for the villagers who got robbed, but I think I've made a mistake in not considering that looking for the lost pouches could have waited. I was so confused by all the possible actions that we could do (look for the pouches, interview the tailors, interview the alchemist...) that I haven't backed up your idea of visiting the alchemist, even if I think it's probably our best lead and what we should have prioritized.
I'll take more time to weigh our options in the future, and I'll be clearer in stating what 'I' (not my character) would prioritize. My apologies for not communicating better with the players involved, and I'll make more efforts so we can get to the bottom of this mystery :)

My confusion is that Ivar said he was going "to the merchant district", you posted
"Let's do that then," Selkyon follows the group.
and Raziel posted
"He follows after the others as they head to the merchant district - "One of my favorite parts of town" - the half-orc comments as they move.
So I assumed that's where we were going.
I realize there was conversation about interviewing folks at the carnival, that's why I intentionally asked about finding the alchemist first. Also as a playing style, I try to separate what I, as a player, know from what Ivar, as the character, knows. So I knew that Pelipe wanted to go to a tailors, but Ivar heard
"We can start by interviewing those in the shops." "In particular, the dress shop." A slightly devious look crawls over her face at the thought of finally getting her hands on something nice to wear.
as accomplice to going back to town to find the Alchemist.
Again, just a series of events that left me scratching my head. I will try to ask better question/make better statements.

Sorry if I haven't responded all day. It's been quite busy.
I reflect Selkyon's sentiments that if there was confusion, I'm sorry. I thought it was clear.
From my perspective, I think Pelipe and the others wanted to return to tell Almara what they had found out. This is why we were heading back to the carnival. I had mentioned in her post that she was excited for the chance to buy a dress from the shops there in the carnival, as the group encouraged her not to fret about spending her money in relation to those shops.
After the events at the gate, finding the purses became our chief concern, and Selkyon wrote as much when he said:
"We can try searching the carnival for the stolen purses," Selkyon says.
We continued on with Almara toward a secret place to talk when we were waylaid and came across the body, as you know. Then Selkyon suggested after that:
"We can visit the local alchemists and tailors. We'd also need some proof that carnival workers were not involved in either the pickpocketing or the murder. It'd help to interrogate the staff members, set up a timetable of where everybody was and what they were doing before all hell broke loose."
Which at this point, Pelipe was ready to do, as she already intended to go to the "shops", meaning the merchant portion of the carnival.
At which time you wrote about going first to the alchemist.Selkyon then stated:
"We can start with looking for the lost pouches," he tells his teammates once they've left the tent and are out of earshot. "As for interviewing the carnival workers, I think we know someone we can trust,"
This solidified his position and intent to travel to find the mermaid and start with the shops.
That is how I arrived to my position. When you and Raziel wrote Merchant districts, I thought you were refering to the carnival's "merchant area", not the town's. When you wrote that you went back the way we came, I thought you meant out of the big top tent, not out of the carnival to the town. All in all, big misunderstandings that no-one meant to do. I think that's how I came to my understanding of things, and I hope it lends some clarity to you. I will try to do better myself to make a distinction in this.

We're cool, Like I said, I will try to ask better question/make better statements.

I'm just waiting till others post in response to Pelipe and I'll post again. Just stating that I'm here still.

Pelipe Lightdriver |

I'm just letting you know that for the next few days I'm going to be out of town in the wild. Afterward, I may have some crazy times to play catch-up with my store. Also, it seems like the laptop I use is on the way out, so it may be even longer if I get stuck without it working. I'll try to keep posting on my phone. Hopefully, there is service up where I'll be and the free time to post.

Pelipe Lightdriver |

I hope all is well with everyone. I'm back, so I'm up to normal speed. Everyone still here?

I'm sorry to say it, but I'm going to step back from this campaign. I had fun while it lasted, and that's the important part. I hope whatever happened to WoF that they are okay. Goodbye all.
