Like I mentioned when I messaged you yesterday, I've been pushed back up on the fence. If I can somehow come up with a better character idea, I'll play.

I’m interested! My current idea, provided you allow it and SW works with it, is for Sir Kevin of Humboldt, medieval re-enactor and cannabis enthusiast. He’s in DC for some re-enacting event, along with lobbying for legalization of his product.
He works in the industry up in Humboldt but re-enacts as a knight in his spare time, so basically a weed-smoking modern knight with full plate and a longsword/shield combo.

I am currently making up a character sheet template for SW that will include all of the formatting codes for use on Paizo's chat interface (see here for an example of how this might look). It will include a lot of additional stuff that may not be pertinent to your character (eg. all of the Skills will be included), so all you have to do will be to delete anything that doesn't specifically pertain to your character.
If anyone would like a copy sent to them, just let me know your e-mail addresses and I'll send it through once I'm done creating and tweaking. :)

I have my basic concept down now Pat. I'm playing a Nurse, who does some martial arts weapon training, and shooting practice in her spare time. So she will be a bit of a Paladin. lol
She'll be an Australian on holidays (sensing a theme?). :D
So I do have a few suggestions/questions before I get a character down onto paper for you GM...
Firstly, I would like to make a suggestion that they implemented in the newest edition of Savage Worlds (Savage Worlds Adventure Edition or SWADE). For skills, they gave us only 12 skill points but they gave every character a d4 in Persuasion, Notice, Stealth, Athletics, and Common Knowledge (which was made into a skill rather than a trait test). Would you want to adopt that for this game?
Second thing I wanted to ask was about the Guts skill. I was looking at characters and saw someone had Guts on their sheet. Usually, fear checks can be handled as a Spirit test unless you want the game to be particularly horror-themed. I know there are zombies and starting off, we'll all be freaking out but I don't know if they'll stay scary enough to be reasonable to pick up the Guts skill. Let me know what you think.
I am thinking of being a Youtube/Twitch streamer by the name of Johnny B. Badass, who'll be on vacation and streaming some of the sites and scenes of Washington D.C..

I'm not keen to spend more money after I just bought the other one tbh. Plus I've already made my character and finished my Template.
This edition doesn't have Guts or Athletics (I did think it was weird there was no Athletics Skill though).
But I'll go with whatever Pat says.
Yeah, I’m just not comfortable monkeying around with the ruleset when I barely know the game. I think we’re going to play it vanilla for now, and maybe later we can revisit the issue.
If I wanted to use a Machete, would I use the stats for a Dagger, Short Sword or a Survival Knife?
Patrick-- couldn't find rules for a couple items (silencer, subsonic ammunition), so I made them up on the fly. Let me know what you think.

Also - you can set up a character even if you don’t have them all set just yet- the intro part before the combat begins will likely take us several weeks in real time to accomplish

Well, there are currently six people with an active interest. That’s a pretty good number to start with, so I think we are good for now.
However, things do often change in PbPs due to drop outs and scheduling conflicts, so what I can do is set you on an alternate list. If we lose players or I decide the group needs more bodies to keep it solvent. Would that work for you?

Ive never played the system so I'll take a look to see what i can come up with.
What's the starting money? Sir Kevin is complete otherwise, I just need to get gear sorted out.
More specifically, wondering if I'll have enough to buy a shield, longsword, and a full set of plate armor.
It would be $500 starting according to the book, but I can be a bit lenient. I will caution you that full plate is a tough thing to operate in. It might save you from chewing zombies , but there’s going to be gunplay in this game, and we all know what happens when plate meets gunpowder

Alright. I'm certainly aware that armor and bullets aren't a great mix, but it's a risk I'm willing to take. I took the loyal hindrance so I could increase my starting money, any chance that could just be most of a suit of full plate instead?
Edit: Just had a crazy idea for a kevlar vest and plate to cover up the rest. Something for the future maybe.
