Whoops, forgot to make my own roll
Save vs DC ??: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20
Xilt Sphinx
|
Xilt tries to resist the mental onslaught.
Will: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (9) + 12 = 21
| Tzleztor |
The Mephit cups his ears with his hands against the attack whilst complaining to his master.
"Now you did it. Smooth move!"
Will: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
Dawa Kookpa
|
The Misfortune won't be available because Dawa is flat-footed, and thus can't take immediate actions. This effect doesn't count as a charm effect.
Ah yes, sorry, brain fog.
| GM Jhaeman |
Roll on the following table at the beginning of each confused subject’s turn each round to see what the subject does in that round.
01–25 Act normally.
26–50 Do nothing but babble incoherently.
51–75 Deal 1d8 points of damage + Str modifier to self with item in hand.
76–100 Attack nearest creature (for this purpose, a familiar counts as part of the subject’s self).
A confused creature who can’t carry out the indicated action does nothing but babble incoherently. Attackers are not at any special advantage when attacking a confused creature. Any confused creature who is attacked automatically attacks its attackers on its next turn, as long as it is still confused when its turn comes. Note that a confused creature will not make attacks of opportunity against anything that it is not already devoted to attacking (either because of its most recent action or because it has just been attacked)."

Dawa Kookpa
|
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
Dawa trembles at what they have realized. "We must return to Dustpawn quickly to save the town!"
Izlin Greymantle{Toku Kara Shi}
|
Confusion: 1d100 ⇒ 52
Damage: 1d8 - 1 ⇒ (1) - 1 = 0
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (11) + 15 = 26
The magus tries to shake off the psychic assault. Mind and consciousness swirling, he balls up a fist and punches himself in order to snap his mind back to reality.
"NO!! We must...uh...my head is reeling we must destroy the orrery first. That may serve to weaken the creature before it arrives.
Taman Hornraven
|
Hearing Izlin's words Taman starts hitting the orrery.
Xilt Sphinx
|
Xilt shakes his head. He moves carefully away from Izlin (withdraw action).
"Taman. Stop that. Izlin is clearly confused like the frog-man. Look what he is doing to himself. Attacking the orrery might kill him!"
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (15) + 18 = 33
| Tzleztor |
The Mephit interposes his little body between Taman and the structure. He is careful to keep his distance from Izlin.
"We should move it and tend to Izlin. Destroying it right now is too dangerous for all of us."
Izlin Greymantle{Toku Kara Shi}
|
"I'm fine. I'm also right. Destroying the orrery may be our only chance of stopping this thing, whatever it is."
Unless I'm reading the spoiler wrong.
Taman Hornraven
|
Taman continues with destruction.
Dawa Kookpa
|
In character, do we have any reason not to believe Izlin? I don't think we have any reason to suspect that he may be under some kind of effect, do we?
Dawa gazes at the orrery with great sadness as Taman moves to destroy it, but he does nothing to stop him. "Truly, the moon is a harsh mistress, sometimes."
Almaas Kargar
|
Almaas nods at Taman!
”This was the right path! Too dangerous for the communities here! How do we confront this horror from the stars?!“
Taman Hornraven
|
"With sword!"
Xilt Sphinx
|
"What a waste to destroy such a mighty magical item. We did not even take the time to study it properly. We should have found another way!"
Xilt shrugs his shoulders.
"What is done is done. Should we return to town now?"
Xilt looks around the room again hoping to find something that will in part help him forget about the destruction of the orrery.
Perception,Hidden: 1d20 + 9 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 9 + 2 = 27
| Tzleztor |
The little mephit mumbles to himself as he looks around the room for treasure.
Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (7) + 11 = 18
Dawa Kookpa
|
Dawa too looks sadly at the ruined wreckage of the orrery. "Nay, good Xilt, the loss is not in what we might have studied from it. It is in the realization that the Moon did not find us worthy of her gifts. Truly we are accursed!"
As far as we know, is there anything further to explore here? If not, Dawa will also advocate for returning to town to protect it from the entity.
| GM Jhaeman |
In the crumbling powder of the orrery, you see that each of the planetary spheres remains intact!
Alas, no hint of a spellbook can be found.
The spheres can still be used to cast their associated spells, but can now not be recharged.
I've double-checked the module, and there's no mention of a spellbook (despite the Captain being a wizard). We'll have to assume it was either destroyed in the crash or previously stolen from the wreckage.
Xilt Sphinx
|
Xilt pockets the orbs for now letting them be sucked into his Handy Haversack.
"On the way back to town we can discuss who might benefit most from the use of the orbs but I will hold on to them for now."
Once Xilt has a free moment he begins to lecture the party on the artifact that they partially destroyed.
Once detached, a planetary sphere carries 4 charges that can be used to activate a spell effect. The effects of the 12 spheres and the number of charges required to use a sphere’s spell are as follows:
Sun—searing light (1 charge)
Aballon—haste (2 charges)
Castrovel—detect thoughts (1 charge)
Golarion—resilient sphere (4 charges)
Akiton—rage (1 charge)
Verces—align weapon (1 charge)
Eox—death ward (2 charges)
Triaxus—teleport (4 charges)
Liavara—dream (4 charges)
Bretheda—restoration (2 charges)
Apostae—fly (2 charges)
Aucturn—confusion (2 charges)
@GM Jhaeman - Thanks for double checking.
| Tzleztor |
Tzleztor turns to the party agreeing in part with Dawa. His eyes flicker momentarily on Izlin.
"I think we are done here. We can head back to town. It is not likely that we will find another artifact to destroy today or any other day for that matter."
Almaas Kargar
|
Almaas is very intrigued.
”How do we distribute the orbs? Taman should get the fly orb. “
| GM Jhaeman |
It's been a long, exhausting day. After exploring the mine in the morning and the crashed object in the afternoon, you finally make it back to Dustpawn in the early evening. The air becomes stifling--it feels weirdly oppressive and humid, as it might before a powerful storm. When your weary feet step inside the Mineshaft, Dalviss Crenn rushes out from a back room. "Thank the heavens you've returned! Something's wrong with Nalan--you know, the barmaid and housekeeper. She's collapsed and I can't wake her up, but she keeps writhing and moaning! I've sent a message to the temple, but no one's come yet. Are any of you a healer?"
Izlin Greymantle{Toku Kara Shi}
|
Izlin's eyes drift toward the oracle.
| GM Jhaeman |
Following Dalviss, you rush into Nalan Hossler's room. The housekeeper is in bed, eyes closed and sweating profusely. Her body constantly contorts in pain as she mumbles and moans incomprehensible sounds. Her body arches suddenly as she screams "The Emissary sees you!"
Before your very eyes, the body of the middle-aged woman seems to swell and somehow distort itself until it becomes an enormous, purple skinned giant that grows immense tentacles from its back and a wide mouth filled with sharp teeth! The giant mutant smashes through the wall of the bedroom, showing the street outside.

Well, your description mentions 'giant' twice, so Bane Giant Mutant Humanoid? Too specific? Not specific enough?
| GM Jhaeman |
You can pick from any of the categories list here: https://www.d20pfsrd.com/magic-items/magic-weapons/magic-weapon-special-abi lities/bane/ For example, you could pick Humanoid (Giant), or Humanoid (Human). "Mutant" isn't one of the options, and I should clarify that I was using "giant" in the cinematic/descriptive sense, not in the mechanical subtype sense.
Dawa Kookpa
|
Dawa swiftly strikes his buckler Swift action to activate Inspire Courage and moves back out of the room to avoid the creature withdraw action to move back to where the tiger is
Without room to advance in the tight confines of the inn, K'nai guards Dawa.
Both Inspire Courage and Flagbearer are now active, though probably not useful to people in our current positions. But if the creature moves outside then Dawa and K'nai will follow and then these will give +4/+4 as usual.
Almaas Kargar

Almaas is shocked!
He casts divine favor on himself and retrieves his bow from his backpack.

Humanoid Giant 1,Humanoid Human 2: 1d2 ⇒ 1
Humanoid Giant Bane it is! Fingers crossed.
| GM Jhaeman |
The mutated monstrosity vents its fury on the only Pathfinder left in the room: Izlin! Meaty fists, lashing tentacles, and sharp teeth assail the tiefling in a vicious series of attacks!
The creature is doing a full action: power attacking with 1 bite, 2 tentacles, and 2 slams. All but one of the tentacles hits. Izlin, you take a total of 63 points of damage and I need you to please roll a Fortitude saving throw.

Reroll: 1d20 + 13 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 13 + 1 = 33
That's what I get for not looking at the map. I thought of it like a cinematic cut scene where it was bursting from the building and walking through the town.
Xilt Sphinx

Xilt steps forward casting a defensive spell on his familiar.
Mirror Image,Arcane Point,CL10: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
"Go help Izlin. Just be annoying yourself."
| Tzleztor |
Tzleztor flies forward hovering just over Almass' head. He yells out to the monstrosity. It is not clear which is the real Mephit and which are the copies but the insult is clear enough.
(Mirror Image, 4 Images)
"Hey you ugly. Over here!"
He sends a stream of blinding particles towards the former house keeper in an attempt to blind her.

Izlin makes a run for it, leaping just in time to avoid a tentacle that lashes out at him! An instant later, Taman appears from outside and slashes into the monstrosity's rubbery flesh!
Izlin, you did provoke one AoO, but fortunately the attack missed. Taman, your attack hit (even with the creature getting cover) though there seems to be a tiny bit of DR.
