Almaas Kargar |
Almaas asks his arcane companion to use his mage armor wand on him. He uses an oil of grease on himself.
He waits a couple of minutes and casts ‘protection from evil’ on all PCs and then casts bless!
So we PCs are all under a protection from evil effect and everyone under a bless effect. 7 minutes duration.
“I hope we can save this community... and save ourselves! Where do we confront the emissary?!“
Tachonius |
Tachonius will use his last two spell slots for shield of faith and aid.
temp hp: 1d8 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15
Taman Hornraven |
Taman will use his Align Weapon sphere same second he sees the Emissary.
I will align my weapon to GOOD or if someone can roll knowledge roll and determine the DR that will be great.
Dawa Kookpa |
Dawa will use his wand to heal himself.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
"How is everyone else? Does anyone need healing before we fight this "Emissary" - whatever that is!?!"
@GM, is Dawa still sickened from the failed Will save? If so, Dawa will use his scroll of Remove Sickness to temporarily remove the sickness effect for 10 minutes.
@all, note that Bless will not stack with Banner of the Ancient Kings & Flagbearer - they are both morale bonuses. It's still useful since the banner only works within 30' (and becomes a penalty if it's taken away), but just fyi.
Dawa will use the last of his power (i.e. his final four level 3 spell slots) to cast Resist Energy (Communal) four times on himself and his comrades (including K'nai, who temporarily lowers his spell resistance), giving everyone Resist Energy 20 for Fire, Cold, Electricity, and Acid.
Unless anyone objects, Dawa also takes the Sun orb (Searing Light) and the Apostae orb (Fly). Are all the other orbs claimed? Dawa will take any that have no users at present, since he's nearly out of his own spells that might be useful.
When the Emissary comes near, he casts Divine Favor on K'nai.
He holds his wand of haste in hand, ready to use it as soon as the battle is joined. (unless someone else wants to use the haste orb?)
"All right. I guess I'm ready. What could possibly go wrong?"
Btw, Dawa has 9 rounds of Bardic Performance remaining (I've been tracking since we entered the ship earlier in the day). Six minutes isn't enough time for him to polish his Singing Steel buckler, so starting Inspire will be a move action, not a swift.
Xilt Sphinx |
@Dawa - Tzleztor will use the Haste orb. A PC action is generally more important than the action of a familiar. Just please do not tell him that I said that. ;)
@Taman - Align Weapon can be cast before combat at it will have a duration of 11 minutes. I suggest that everyone who wants to Align their weapon to Good.
Xilt grins as he knows the timeline of the emissary's arrival. He whips out two scrolls of Mage Armor and fortifies himself and Tzleztor. He casts Reduce Person, Heightened Awareness (from a wand) and Levitate on himself. He then uses one of the orbs to protect himself from Negative energy (Death Ward). The minute before the emissary arrives he uses a scroll of Mirror Images to provide some last minute protection for himself.
Mirror Image: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
"Please we should all make use of the different orbs before the Emissary arrives."
@GM Jhaeman - Xilt's initiative for the final fight should be +14 with the Reduce Person spell and Heightened Awareness.
Izlin Greymantle{Toku Kara Shi} |
As Verces has four charges, I would like to use one of the Align Weapon's as well (to GOOD).
Fly is on my spell list, so I can activate it on whomever needs it. With about 30 before the Emissary arrives, I will activate my Flight Hex. I used 1 minute on the ship, so I have four minutes remaining. I'm really hoping this is not a 40 round fight.
Taman Hornraven |
I will also like Fly spell if we still have it?
GM Jhaeman |
Tense seconds pass, and then for the second time in a matter of weeks, a strange shape falls from the sky over Dustpawn. But this one doesn’t pass by the old mining town, and instead heads straight for it!
The dark blot lances down from the heavens, landing in an open plaza just north of the Mineshaft with a strangely muted rumble.
Surging forth in a tide of tendrils and mist and otherworldly slime, the rampaging townsfolk and the Pathfinders alike hear a voice in their minds: ”This place is now vassal to the Dominion of the Black. Slaves, come forth and prostrate yourselves. Interlopers, come forth to be destroyed.”

I will also like Fly spell if we still have it?
Dawa has the Fly orb and could have easily cast it on Taman before the start of combat (since it should have 11 minutes duration).
Dawa Kookpa |
@Dawa--yes, you would still be sickened if you don't use the scroll.
Dawa will have used his scroll of Remove Sickness, which will suppress the sickened condition for 10 minutes.
Tachonius |
If we have the charges, Tachonius would like to have his weapon aligned too.
Tzleztor |
@Tachonius - There are four uses of the Align Weapon. You should be good to go.
The Mephit uses up the last vestiges of power in the orb to cast Haste on the party. He then takes the opportunity to find some cover.
"Boss. Any clue what this guy is? He looks scary."
(Haste on all party members.)
Xilt Sphinx |
Xilt looks at the alien creature trying to recall any information that might help the party but he comes up blank.

The wizard gestures and a cloud of glowing particles appear around the creature. He then moves quickly trying to keep up with Tzleztor.

Almaas Kargar |
Sorry but I have poor internet connection and cannot see the map. I also need to check the orbs for pre buffs and can only do so tomorrow. Give me another 24 hours and I am home and will then post.
Almaas Kargar |
“Hit it with everything you have!! We have to save this community!!“ the dwarf shouts.
Almaas full attacks with his good aligned bow and Dawa’s banner!

GM, That was not enough to open the spoiler but when I looked at the picture of the monster I thought it is an ooze or a plant. I hope it’s ok to randomly roll what Almaas would choose Ooze 1, Plant 2 : 1d2 ⇒ 1
Swift action: Ooze bane. 3/12 rounds remaining after this. If this is an ooze arrows hit with +2 better and make 2+2d6 better damage. And they are treated as cold iron and silver and magic as they are +3 weapons. Also good due to align weapon.
Free action: boots of speed 2/10 remaining after this round.
First and fourth arrow cold iron, second arrow silver, third arrow adamantine

GM Jhaeman |
The Emissary undulates, and suddenly much of the plaza is cloaked in utter darkness!
This is deeper darkness--even those of you with darkvision can't see through the area in a 60 foot radius from where The Emissary is/was standing. I'm terrible at the radius templates and did the best I could, but if anyone can improve on, I'd appreciate it. Thanks!
Save: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24
Tachonius |
Tachonius had been prepared for this tactic. He draws a vial and splashes it over his armor. The area around him alights with bright light. Where it overlaps with the darkness, the natural light condition returns to the area. Tachonius then steps forward.
oil of daylight used
Areas of darkness and light have been placed on the map and grouped with the token that it will move with.
Taman Hornraven |
So, is the Emissary still in the darkness?
Izlin Greymantle{Toku Kara Shi} |
Seeing the success Almas had, the magus also enhances his blade to be harmful to the emissary. He then flies up and off to the east.
Bane oozes. 15' up, 15' to the right. Will update the map when I get to my computer.
Taman Hornraven |
Taman flies up and little bit closer to the enemy. (10 ft up and 40 ft north)
Dawa Kookpa |
Dawa and K'nai both advance to the edge of the darkness, waiting for Tachonius to advance his shining armor into the blackness that awaits them. Dawa also begins to sing in celestial once again, while K'nai adopts the stance of a Dragon.
Inspire Courage (+2/+2) to all who can hear Dawa; Banner/Flagbearer (+2/+2 to all within 30' of Dawa who can see him.
K'nai enters Dragon Style.
Xilt Sphinx |
With no effective target Xilt and Tzleztor wait for the Emissary to move closer.
(Both will delay their actions)
Almaas Kargar |
Almaas is really glad that his companions are so resourceful!
"Tachonius, you are a shining beacon of hope for this town!"
He waits to see what happens.
Delay.
GM Jhaeman |
A voice rings in your mind, dry and crackling like a fire. "The Dominion of the Black brooks no dissent. There is submission, or there is death. You have chosen unwisely." There's a strange squelching sound from somewhere ahead, but you can't really tell where it's coming from.

Roll on the following table at the beginning of each confused subject’s turn each round to see what the subject does in that round.
d%
Behavior
01–25
Act normally.
26–50
Do nothing but babble incoherently.
51–75
Deal 1d8 points of damage + Str modifier to self with item in hand.
76–100
Attack nearest creature (for this purpose, a familiar counts as part of the subject’s self).
A confused creature who can’t carry out the indicated action does nothing but babble incoherently. Attackers are not at any special advantage when attacking a confused creature. Any confused creature who is attacked automatically attacks its attackers on its next turn, as long as it is still confused when its turn comes. Note that a confused creature will not make attacks of opportunity against anything that it is not already devoted to attacking (either because of its most recent action or because it has just been attacked)."
Dawa Kookpa |

K'nai Will: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17
Also, if this is a spell or SLA, K'nai has SR 13 (and Dawa has SR 13 vs spells/SLA cast by evil outsiders (which the emissary might be?) or with the evil descriptor
In any case, if Prot Evil doesn't protect, and K'nai has failed his save, then Dawa will use an Immediate Action to end Inspire Courage and cast Saving Finale, which gives K'nai another try.
K'nai Will reroll from Saving Finale (if needed): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24
If Saving Finale was not needed for K'nai (e.g. due to being immune from Prot Evil or SR), then Dawa will use it for the first ally within 25' who fails their save.
Lastly, am I correct that the Daylight spell on Tachonius is cancelling the darkness? That is, if I wait for Tachnonius to move up, then the emissary will be viewable?

Suddenly, Dawa inspirational song ceases as he draws upon his bardic magic to rescue K'nai from the Emissary's power.
Immediate action to cast Saving Finale, ending Inspire Courage, but preventing K'nai from failing his save (rerolled save in the spoiler above).
Then, Dawa recommences his celestial song and retrieves his Orb of Fly. Inspire Courage is active again. Dawa inspires as a move action and his haunted curse means that retrieving the orb is a standard action.
K'nai waits by Dawa, ready to receive the Fly spell.

Tachonius decides to remain a beacon as he doesn't have the ability to fly.
