Born in the town of Halgrim on the Ironbound Isle of Battlewall, Wulfilas is the son of an unknown Mordant Spire elf and a minor noblewoman, Ragna. Ragna owns a dozen small sheep crofts in the hills around Halgrim and would tell her son little of his father. She only told them that they met in a terrible storm and took shelter together in a sea cave she could never find again.
Quick with a blade or fist, Wulfilas made a good Ulfen Raider for awhile. He sailed with the reavers and raided the coasts of Varisia and Cheliax, learning the ways of the sea. But that life seemed ultimately empty to Wulfilas, who watched his shipmates grow old and die. Now the inheritor of those sheep crofts, he spent a decade trying to be a farmer, but in the end couldn't arouse any enthusiasm for the task.
He set out for the Worldwound, hoping for glory and gold. Instead, he found horror unrelenting and dishonorable foes at every turn. His life was changed when he rescued Theobald, a human priest of Shelyn. Theobald taught the ulfen warrior that there was more to life than glory - there was love and beauty. Furthermore, he taught the key lesson in Wulfilas's life - the beauty of service to an ideal.
By the time the crusade ended, Wulfilas was a full-fledged paladin of Shelyn. He has now followed the urging of his heart and come south looking for a way to serve his goddess.
