GM QUESTION ANSWERS:

1)Percise splash will multiply if you target a specific creature with them but if your targeting a square it will not.

2)No it would not be available as a quick shot and then in the first round.

3)Yes I would allow you to add dex to splash weapon damage

Thank you. These will be important if/when I need to fill out the build...

So here is a updated list of who we have so far. If I left you off let me know but I think I got everyone.

Undecided:

Ouachitonian
Oblivion's Scion
JohnnyBlack

Casters/Partial caster:

VrokSkyreaver-Thundercaller Bard
David_Bross-Investigator
Jereru-Bloodrager

Front line:

The Archlich-Aramant Drakkuskail-Fighter

Skill Moneky:

Pad300-Eldorazo Stickyfingers-Rogue

Based on the above list we need characters from Ovachitonian, Oblivion's Scion, JohnnyBlack, and Gavmania. We also need pure arcane and/or divine casters to help round things out.

I will make a Conjurer Wizard...

2d6 + 6 ⇒ (3, 5) + 6 = 14
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (3, 3) + 6 = 12
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 1) + 6 = 8
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 5) + 6 = 12
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 1) + 6 = 13
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 5) + 6 = 17

Hello, I am very interested. So, you're a fan of VMC, hein?

That 17 screams Caster, and you are looking for a Divine caster anyways. Divine full caster are my specialty and favourite...

I'm through item purchase, the most boring part imho xD

As a note, I'm totally okay with it, but I'm not sure Bloodrager should be classified as Caster/Partial Caster, unless you consider "I move my blade and everyone dies" a blasting spell :p I mean the build is technically a charismatic barbarian with a bat familiar flying around.

Sadly, I couldn't come up with a VMC or Prestige Class for you, but level 13 divine caster is about the range of a character I always wanted to play:

Summary of the build:

CG Ifrit Spirit Guide Oracle with the Volcano Mystery and Vampirism curse

His two roles are Blaster with the necessary feats (Spell focus, Empower, Intensify) for offense and Support with all the important healing and supporting spells that the cleric list provides.
He will 95% of the time connect to the Flame spirit, because it provides the Flame Curse hex and Fireball spell.
The goal is to use the interesting Volcano Revelations Burning Magic and Fiery Conduit, to first set enemies on fire, than hit them with a strong touch attack from range.

HP: 12d8 ⇒ (5, 3, 7, 5, 1, 2, 6, 2, 7, 7, 2, 8) = 55

Background:

1) 5+ points that capture the concept and story of the character.
- Aja was born the same night, her parents' village was consumed by the nearby volcano that had until then provided fertile land for the farming community. Miraculously, Aja survived with her body burned and consumed by the hot lava. He was the offchild of a resident efreet, a fact that his mother would never need to confess to her husband.
- His father was an efreet shaman living inside the volcano and took Aja in. He raised him to become one with the heat and to listen to the spirits that occupy the world around us. He tought him how to channel fire magic in all its glry.
- Deep inside of him, there was another force that he at first didn't understand and wouldn't admit to his father. Somehow he did not fully survive his near-death experience during birth and he constantly feels the urge to consume living flesh in order to become whole. It is a very deep instinct and he can control it, but he's afraid that some day he won't.
- As with all Ifrit, Aja wouldn't stay forever in his hot home and at age 15 left to travel the world. Afraid of his primal urge becoming public, he never stayed in one place too long. Wherever he went, his skills were will sought-after and he got by well by getting rid of bandits, goblins and other annoyances.
- As his power grew and he learned to crontol his curse better, he started to loath for more. Power-hungry that he became, he took on riskier and more dangerous jobs that usually involved blasting things with fire. But simple mercenary work, although usually for a good cause, was not enough any longer. He wanted to do meaningful things. The contest of the Breaching Festival offers a great opportunity to prove himself ready.

2) Two goals that you'd like the character to accomplish in-game.
- Risk his own life to save another from certain death
- Revive his dead human mother

3) Two secrets, one the PC keeps to himself, and one kept from the PC. I'll come up with a third that both the character and player aren't aware of, in hopes of shocking surprises within the storytelling.
- He is part undead, being healed by negative energy
- His father knew the volcano would erupt and cuoldn't be bothered with warning the humans in the village

4) 3-5 people that are tied to your PC by blood, love, rivalry, honor, etc. I'd like at least one enemy in a set of three or four, with no more than two for a set of five.
- his aforementioned father, Harydj
- the ghost of his dead mother that watches over him
- enemy: the bandit lord Ben Ditch, whom Aja chased off and who swore revenge for the men and treasure that cost him

5) Three key memories that define your character as the person they are at the time of submission.
- For unknown reasons, Aja remembers his mother's face. He was only a few minutes old, when she died, but she did hold him tightly and smiled at him, when the flames consumed them. Today, whenever he looks into a flame, he can see her smiling back at him.
- He remembers the first time a Flame spirit spoke to him. Being a child, he didn't fully understand and trust his father's shamanism until then. The spirit spoke with such familiarity and kindness that Aja immediately succumbed and never let go since then.
- Aja's a good person. While being slightly arrogant for wanting to grow in power, he'll always use it to help people. He knows what it means to grow up with only one parent and will try to save any child of suffering the same. Therefore he remembers very fondly the first time, he brought back a woman kidnapped by a troll tribe. He had scorched the whole tribe for this. But the tears of joy in the woman's children's eyes he will never forget.

Alright, this is Ouachitonian's submission. Grod is a Warpriest(Cult Leader)/Rose Warden of Milani who is active in the area, setting up Milanite cult cells, while publicly masquerading as a Shelynite (Aren't roses great? Roses are great). He has come to believe that there is Infernal influence afoot in the Academae, and seeks to enter the contest to further investigate things.

Mechanically, he's a sort of hybrid of divine caster, frontliner, and rogue. He focuses on buffs and healing, but also has significant skill in infiltration, and is decently capable in combat (jumping to quite good as long as he can set up a sneak attack). He should be able to fit in a lot of different party lineups, though probably won't stand out anywhere.

Björn Haraldsson is my submission, ready to go, Half-Orc charismatic barbarianBloodrager. He doesn't have an alias avatar because stuff. Yes, Peter, Paizo stuff.

Also, commenting to a friend today, he told me the Fast Healer feat will or won't combo with Blood of Life, depending on GM interpretation. I decided to leave it how it is, as it was already transcripted (I do everything manually and add links, so it takes some time and effort); if you decide against it, it's just changing a pair of feats and that's it.

Sovereign Court

I had a concept for a character but with these dice rolls I may rethink it.

2d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 4) + 6 = 15
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 1) + 6 = 8
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 4) + 6 = 16
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 4) + 6 = 14
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 6) + 6 = 17
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 6) + 6 = 16

@GM From your original post I didn’t think you wanted a full build with alias, but I see a lot of people posting that. Would that help?

It isn't necessary, it just saves you time from having to do it if selected.

And there are some of us that like to build characters :D
Nerds for the win!

1 person marked this as a favorite.

NERD POWER! NERD POWER! NERD POWER!

My submission, nearing the end of the recruitment.

Fantomas, the elegant menace:
All the poor inhabitants of Korvosa knows that on the 31 of Arodus, Saint Alika's birthday, there is also a present for them. For Fantomas, the elegant menace, gentleman thief, scourge of the rich and benefactor of the poor send them, the most humble of them all, food, candy, and lots and lots of wine. For everyone, including the poor, deserve a day of celebration, and what day would be better than Saint Alika's?
But who is Fantomas?
A wizard, always elegantly dressed and with a white mask covering all of his head, excluding the eyes and the ears. Always ready to rob from the rich and powerful, not only their riches (which he does) but also beauty. Fantomas values art and culture even more than gold. And when he robs gold, he is always ready to give (part) of it to the poor, and to the needy.
He is not above joining forces with others, for a fee or for a good cause, to take difficult jobs. And his magic has made more than one of those jobs to succeed when, without his powerful intellect and powerful magic, it would have failed.
1) I'd like 5+ points that capture the concept and story of the character. More are welcome, but no less than five.
- He is a "gentleman thief". Educated, courteous, elegant. Chaotic Neutral, able to kill (but he prefers not to for practicality). Loyal to his companions, as loyalty is very hard to get.
- But he is clear that he robs from the rich (which have riches to rob), and that if somebody needs help, and he can, he will do it. Especially the poor (and beautiful ladies, of course).
- The is a follower of Pharasma. He does send food and alcohol to the poor, the people Saint Alika more loved, on her birthday, to commemorate her.
- He is proud and you would think he is vain. Elegant clothes 24x7. He never takes off his mask. Unless he is disguised, as he is a master of disguise.
- His biggest asset is his intellect. He plans his "jobs" and makes sure he is able to pull them off with less risk, cost, and the biggest gain. He would prefer to fail a robbery than to damage an art piece or hurt an innocent (he is not evil).
2) Two goals that you'd like the character to accomplish in-game.
- Get the gold.
- Get the girl.
:D
More seriously...
- To get beautiful art and a lot of gold.
- To help the downtrodden and the unjustly hurt. More than for vanity than for "goodness".
3) Two secrets, one the PC keeps to himself, and one kept from the PC. I'll come up with a third that both the character and player aren't aware of, in hopes of shocking surprises within the storytelling.
- From the other PCs, and everyone, his real identity. He was a noble scion. He was a student at the Academae once. But now no one knows who he really is. Because he doesn't know either. He researched a spell to hide his identity, and it backfired, somewhat. He made everybody forget him... including himself. He somehow remembers what he did of his life, his education, his adventures, and studies, but he lost all personally identifiable information. He knows he once had a family, but he can't remember them. The same with his studies, he knows he had tutors, and teachers, and fellow students, but he can't remember them. And vice-versa. He successfully erased his previous identity, even from himself. But he then became Fantomas, the elegant menace, "full-time" and moved on. And he is happy, in his own way.
- He doesn't really know he studied in the Academae. And maybe somebody there can recognize him, or maybe there is physical evidence of him studying there. What will happen if he suddenly realizes who he was previously? How will his spell react?
- Another one... the fifth of his relationships.
4) 3-5 people that are tied to your PC by blood, love, rivalry, honor, etc. I'd like at least one enemy in a set of three or four, with no more than two for a set of five.
- He has a group of 4 helpers. Female, very beautiful and loyal to him. He calls them only by the four elements names, Fire, Wind, Water, and Earth. Each of them of a different race (human, elf, halfling, and half-orc).
- Inspector Gustave Palin, from the Korvosan Guard. He has spent years trying to get Fantomas, but being unable to. But he has taken his capture the job of his life.
- "The Shoanti". A group of street urchins living on the streets of Korvosa, that loosely work with/for Fantomas as spies, lookouts and menial helpers.
- Madame Gheorgina. An old varisian woman, leader of "The Shoanti".
- ????. Fantomas sometimes thinks he remembers her. Who is her? His mother? His sister? His best friend? His wife? He only knows that she was part of his previous life, that he loved her dearly, and that he can't remember her. Why isn't she around anymore? Did she die? Where is she? Why hasn't she look out for him? She should have been very important, as she is the only thing (if ever so vaguely) he remembers from his old life.
5) Three key memories that define your character as the person they are at the time of submission.
- Waking up after his spell success, without remembering who he was, but deciding that is a good thing and to move forward with his life.
- The smile of a group of poor Korvosan citizens after delivering food and wine to them at Saint Alika's, and them inviting him to join them to celebrate. They were poor, and the street was filthy. But he felt welcomed and accepted. He spent a very good while with them.
- The one that got away. He could have robbed the picture, but he would have to damage in the process of escaping. He is not used to failing, and that job was a failure. But the picture is still there, in that noble's mansion, intact and beautiful in all it's glory. Undamaged. He will go for it some other day, with a better plan.
Rules-wise, he is a human Neutral Chaotic conjurer wizard, the ones usually called "controllers". Buffs, debuffs, area control, summoning, and utility spells more than blasting. Morally wise he is Han Solo. He will shoot first if he needs to. But he is not above (or is it below?) helping others.

Image
I hope you do like him for your game.

Rolling Abilities.
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 4) + 6 = 15
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (3, 4) + 6 = 13
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 6) + 6 = 18
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (3, 3) + 6 = 12
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 1) + 6 = 13
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (3, 1) + 6 = 10
HPs
6 + 12d6 ⇒ 6 + (5, 6, 6, 6, 2, 4, 5, 5, 2, 5, 1, 2) = 55
Changing 1,2 and 3 for 4s... 64 total

He, I like that Fantomas, cool concept :)

Thanks. I have to confess I adapted it from a Mexican Comic Pulp Hero from the 70's.

Okay guys I'm closing down Recruitment now. I will have my decisions for you shortly.

Good luck everyone!

DM Mathpro wrote:

Oh no. I'm too late. Was just about to write up my Iroran Paladin :(

Zero if you can get it up in the next hour I'll consider it.

Sovereign Court

Good rolls but I couldn't settle on anything. Have fun folks!

done. 50 minutes :)

Build:

The Magnificient Adonis, Elven Iroran Paladin 13
Feats: Power Attack, Intimidating Prowess, Cornugon Smash, etc
Racial traits: Human-raised and Perfect
Traits: Memorable and Extremely Fashionable
Gear: He wears only an enchanted kilt and some jewelry.

Background:

1) I'd like 5+ points that capture the concept and story of the character. More are welcome, but no less than five.
- Adonis grew up as an orphan in a temple of The Eternal Rose, where he learned to appreciate beauty in everything. And foremost he appreciated his own beauty and believes of himself to be Shelyn's gift to all women on Golarion. And the priestesses seemed to think so, too...
During his time at the temple he was educated well in courtly manners, bardic knowledge and fighting. The training with Shelyn's paladin went especially well, even though he shunned any weapons and armor. Through his sheer self-confidence he was able to beat up about almost anyone with his bare hands. Needless to say that he performed even better the more female onlookers he could impress. Another reason to not wear any armor - he could simultaneously beat someone up and arouse a potential mate with his sweaty and muscular body.
- Adonis is a prime specimen amongst men. More than six feet tall, all muscles and a smile that can charm a dragon. No woman can withstand him once he puts on his courtship display. A flex of his muscles, a few seducing words and they all melt. When confronted in battle, he usually intimidates the enemy with his beauty and masculinity.
- After the temple was attacked and eventually destroyed by a demonic raid, he swore and Oath against to kill all fiends or banish those he can't. He swore revenge for his foster family and all that he had loved.
- While he appreciated Shelyn's view of the world, he was also drawn to Irori and his teachings of self-perfection. And according to himself, ooone was closer to perfect than Adonis. And he would strive to ultimate perfection and be a prime example for everyone both physically and in virtue.
- Solving the mystery of the academy of secrets should be no problem for Adonis, according to Adonis.
2) Two goals that you'd like the character to accomplish in-game.
- Kill lots of demons, and perhaps find the ones responsible for the temple raid
- Seduce an equal amount of women - not in a sleazy way, but courtly and honest (not using the Bluff skill)
3) Two secrets, one the PC keeps to himself, and one kept from the PC.
- Adonis is afraid of vermin. He just can't stand them and gets very nervous around a larger swarm. Obviously he's very ashamed of this character flaw.
- The high priestes at the temple was expecting his son and the demons cut it out of her and kidnapped the premature half-elven baby.
4) 3-5 people that are tied to your PC by blood, love, rivalry, honor, etc.
- Leader of the temple guard General Amidala Hayken. The one he couldn't get. The only who resisted his charm. A challenge that made him love her even more. She, too, survived the attack, but he lost track of her, when she was brought into an unknown hospital.
- Old man Hun-Chi, an ancient dwarven monk of Irori, whom he respects infinitely. The dwarf is as wise as Irori himself and teaches the path to enlightenment at a monanstery. He also tries to ground Adonis a little. Hun-Chi wants Adonis to focus less on personal interest, but also on helping those in need.
- Enemy: Mogmannos. As far as his investigations went, that's the name of the raid leader.
5) Three key memories that define your character as the person they are at the time of submission.
- The day of the temple raid and his inability to stop it. His biggest failure.
- He remembers most fondly the time he trained with the paladins in the temple gardens, while all the priestesses and maids searched for excuses to pass through the garden and get a glance of him.
- He was truely sad and even a little afraid, when Hun-Chi sent him away to see the world. Until then, he was always protected by the walls of a temple or monastery and suddenly he wasn't. Despite his prowess and self-confidence, he was suddenly on his own. And he was shocked of of his own feelings.

Okay guys I have made my choices. Will the following characters meet me over in the discussion thread once I get it thrown up.

Aramant Drakkuskail
Eldorazo Stickyfingers
Fantomas
The Magnificent Adonis

Thank you a lot!

Johnny I think I selected you for both my high level games lol.

Discussion thread is live so those selected start blowing that s%%! up please.

You did! Thank you twice!

Hi GM, my apologies but I’ll actually decline as I’d rather avoid certain people and drama. It’s a shame as I was looking forward to the opportunity of playing together with you again. Anyway - I’m sure you have great candidates for replacement. Have fun you all!

Thank you for your time and good luck to those going in!

Sorry to read you're leaving, Archlich, but as the selfish bastard I am... Does that mean another one of us will be selected?

I'm assuming so. But Mathpro posted that he's sick, so don't expect immediate movement... Take a peek at the discussion thread if you want.

Ah, soy about that. We'll stick around then I guess.
