So, you control the Abyss?:

OK, this round you have control of the Abyss. These are the potential effects you can achieve. Valrar, let me know what you want to do, feel free to be creative.

Quake: Each creature standing in a 20-foot radius must attempt a DC 20 Reflex save or fall prone. Fissures open in the earth, and every creature on the ground has a 25% chance to fall into one (Reflex DC 20 avoids). The fissures are 40 feet deep. At the end of the round, all fissures grind shut. Treat all trapped creatures as if they were in the bury zone of an avalanche, trapped without air (Pathfinder RPG Core Rulebook 429). In Subtier 14–15, increase the DC of the Reflex save by 2.

Meteor Strike: Two meteors strike the battlefield, as per the
spell meteor swarm.

Acid Bubble: An Abyssal bubble bursts, spraying acid on all
creatures within a 20-foot radius. This deals 10d6 points of acid damage (Reflex DC 21 half ). In Subtier 14–15, the damage increases to 13d6, and the saving throw DC increases to 23.

Abyssal Minions: The dirt of the Abyss squirms with life, as
a 20-foot-radius spread of grasping claws springs from the ground. This functions like a black tentacles spell (CL 15th, or CL 17th in Subtier 14–15).

Other: The PCs could potentially create other effects, such as altering terrain features or even creating crude structures from thin air. Allow them some leeway in how they decide to shape the Abyss, especially if it creates fun or cinematic effects.

So you drank the blood of a Demon Lord:

Abyssal Attunement: You no longer take penalties on Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma based skill checks based on the difference between the Abyss’s alignment and your own. Additionally, you are particularly adept at manipulating the raw substance of the Abyss, an ability that will have mechanical benefits in your encounter with Koth’Vaul.

Initiative: You gain a +2 bonus on initiative checks.
Epic Strikes: Your attacks with natural and manufactured weapons bypass DR/epic.
Mythic Power: You gain two uses of mythic power per day. You can use this power in the following ways.
• Surge: After you fail any check that uses a d20 roll, as an immediate action you can expend one use of mythic power to roll 1d6 and retroactively add the result to the check.
• Extra Action: Up to once per round as a free action on your turn, you can expend one use of mythic power to take an additional standard action. This action cannot be used to cast a spell.

No way is Bauble going to dash over to where the villain is knowing that he is just going to pop to somewhere else. So, instead, Bauble tugs out a wand of and casts infernal healing on himself after costing down (5'step to 5' up) a bit.

A pity we don't have a cleric here. Seems a waste, but Bauble needs the healing and his vampiric touches have failed every time. Definitely going to have to invest in some higher level healing potions at some point.


Bear in mind that infernal healing is a 1 round cast spell. If you draw the wand as a move action it will cost your standard action this turn and next to activate it. That may change what you want to do.

I'm a little stuck. I want to go after him, especially as Rogar is there, but I could eat an AoO and it'll leave me open to a full attack. That said, there's not much else I should be doing besides drawing fire. I may go without an Acrobatics roll and hope he misses, as that would only stop my movement if he hit (as opposed to a failed tumble). Any thoughts? I'll likely go ahead with that plan shortly otherwise.

I don’t think any of us can eat a full attack from him. We have to hit him every now and again...eventually he’s going to run out of those mythic points, I hope!

Full attack is suicide so best hope is to plink away at him. But damage is limited, especially with his DR

I feel comfortable against a full attack so long as I can get one in first. Chances I can crit and stagger him are good, barring whatever shenanigans he has in store. My playing it safe will be bad for Rogar though, as he's locked into fighting.

Valrar stays where he is, a bit out of Koth'Vaul's reach. He glares at the demon and pushes words straight at his mind.

"I'll flay your corpse and hang it at the highest point in these Rifts. You're just a distillation of some awful dead mortal, can't match the real thing."

Rogar, you must attack Koth'Vaul but you dont have to be suicidal about it, you can cast defensivley, use shift etc to get out of reach but you must actually do something usefully offensive against him. Vladek, he can definately see your pranksters, they fail to affect him again. Break Enchantment has a casting time of 1 minute so you may redo your turn. Confusion is an enchantment so it can work, it just is not generally viable to cast in combat. Rogar andQadathra appear to be at the same elevation but are not within 30' of each other.

Now that the last Vrock has been dropped, Fendahl the elemental decides he cannot do much more to KV in his current form and reverts back to humanoid, with all its frailties.

HP will drop back down from wildshifting back to first normal form. :)

As I said, ou can move as long as you actually attack Koth'Vaul. You can do something effective, you dont have to use a melee attack in fact I would normally require you to cast some sort of spell at him given that is normally how you attack.

Fendahl returns to human form while Rogar sends a small ball of acid which splatters harmlessly off Koth'Vauls hide.

Baubles spell lances across the abyssal sky. It looks like it is going to dissipate harmlessly against Koth'Vauls innate resitance but a bit of mythic push does the trick and Koth'Vaul growls in pain.

Agreed (and I thought of that, too, before deciding to move us back together); it stands to reason (to say nothing of the metaphysics of the Familiar-Witch relationship) that it would go both ways.

That seems reasonable. In which case Valrar is closest, please have Qadathra attack him with some sort of offensive wand or spell.

Any kind of healing, even a CLW from a wand, might make a difference too.

@Valrar, you cannot get above Koth'Vaul by getting 20' up. He is 15' up but is also 15' high, I dont think you can get to a point where you can a height advatage with one move action.

Once again in position, Valrar starts swinging madly. No other way to end this particular nightmare.

Full attack (assuming he doesn't pull something between my first and second, then I can amend). Activating Dizzying Defense after my attacks. Panache will return to 4/8 if the crit resolves. 8 bleed (if applicable) if any attacks land.

Damage: 1d4 + 29 ⇒ (1) + 29 = 30

Attack 2 (Haste): 1d20 + 32 ⇒ (15) + 32 = 47
Confirmation: 1d20 + 38 ⇒ (12) + 38 = 50
Critical Damage: 2d4 + 43 ⇒ (4, 3) + 43 = 50 plus 1d8 ⇒ 2 sonic, 2 charisma, 1 round stagger

As Valrar strikes at him Koth'Vaul once again vanishes with a mocking laugh, reappearing well out of his reach inside one of the massive pillars of black abyssal flame and free of the grasping hand.

Unfortunately mirror dodge is supernatural and therefore doesnt care about being grappled.
