"Yes, I know a lot about the mushrooms. Let me tell you a thing or two..."
Evelyn Kellbor |
Not much I can do here... How much I long being on a ship again. Nothing like the deep sh*t of the sewers to miss the high seas.
Evelyn seems lost in her thoughts, her rapier still in hand.

Lai Tsuan |
Tsuan will search the nonfungal parts of the rooms.

After that, she casually beheads one of the demons and sticks the head in her backpack.

First, amidst the furniture is a desk with several log books and journals: most of them detail the day-to-day transactions of a shop catering to the upper-class called the Skytower Emporium ran by a man named Relios Skytower. In addition to the business ledgers, there's Relios’s personal journal. The journal details the goings on of many of his wealthy clients, as well as Relios’s personal life including the details of his ancestry and the birth of a son, Gandros. One of the last entries mentions that Relios was falling on hard times and intended to sell his wayfinder back to the Pathfinder Society. It’s also clear from the ledgers that Relios was selling a steady stream of yellowcap mushrooms to members of the pre-revolution high society in Augustana.
Second, amidst the junk and debris, you find a gold necklace that could be quite valuable. You can use the Appraise skill if you'd like.
And finally, when you examine the corpse, you can see it's wearing a tin crown with a crude inscription that reads "Emperor Relios."
Lai Tsuan |
Tsuan lets everyone know about the things she's found.
Appraise: 1d20 ⇒ 11
She advocates bringing the crown back for Gandros. He's the rightful king now.
Lai Tsuan |
Should we destroy them? Unless it has a legitimate use, this seems like a hazard.
Bahram al-Urgug "Jack" |
Smiling at the potion and looking to Seldiir, Bahram says to Tsuan, "They would just grow back. Unless we burned them out. maybe we torch the place when we leave. Seldiir, take this potion. It will turn you into a giant for a short time!" Holding the wand and bolt out, Bahram addresses Shagar. "I'm not sure what these do. Are you any good at puzzling out what a magic item does?"
Lai Tsuan |
"Let's not unnecessarily destroy anything. The place may hold historical significance in addition to personal significance to Gandros.
We should bury Relios' corpse properly and return the crown to Gandros."
Is that it? Tsuan told everyone about what's in her spoiler so I believe we've identified Relios and Gandros. I didn't open anyone else's spoiler so I don't know if there are any loose ends. Do we know where the demons came from?
Lai Tsuan |
Tsuan will help carry them out.
GM Jhaeman |
Having dealt with the "demonic invasion" that Gandros warned about, the group return to the Almsman's Sanctuary and provide further assistance to the diseased beggars. The journey out of the stinking sewers is, fortunately, uneventful, and each of you are able to take a deep breath of fresh sea air when you emerge back onto Augustana's docks district.
Venture-Captain Wallace is waiting in the lodge when you return. "Well, what did you find?"
We are at the final little bit of the scenario--the important bit here is mainly what to do or say about Gandros.
Lai Tsuan |
"We believe Gandros is Gandros Skytower, son of Relios Skytower. The wayfinder likely belongs to Relios - he had intended to sell it for cash when he fell on hard times.
The portal is likely a hallucinogen-induced vision inspired by a painting on the wall. The demons were real, but we took care of them.
Gandros appears to be harmless. We brought his father's body - we can have a proper burial. We also brought his father's crown, should it be deemed fit to continue the illusion.
It's probably best if an extermination team was sent to get rid of some yellowcap mushrooms. Their presence doesn't help anyone except for criminals."
GM Jhaeman |
Wallace shakes his head and rolls his eyes. "I thought there was no 'demonic portal,' but the Decemvirate insisted a delve-team check it out. Well, sorry for wasting your time and especially for having you descend into the sewers! The least I can do is arrange rooms--and baths--at a nearby inn. I'll be back shortly. If you can figure out how to get that raving madman out of the lodge in the meantime, I'd appreciate it."
Lai Tsuan |
"Maybe we should ask if the Almsman could use a helper."
Seldiir Elberion |
"Maybe we should ask if the Almsman could use a helper."
”That sounds a lot healthier than leaving him to live off hallucinogenic mushrooms in that place.”
I am assuming that the scroll was what summoned the demons?
”Another little bit of history we have unearthed. Even if there was no portal.”
GM Jhaeman |
When asked, the Almsman is happy to take care of Gandros. After all, you helped save his Sanctuary from the Steel Wyvern gang. For his part, Gandros is firmly convinced he is still the "Prince of Augustana," but the idea of moving his "royal palace" to a new location appeals to him. After all, his "palace staff" will grow considerably in numbers with all of the beggars about!
That's the official end, but please feel free to do any farewell or other wrap-up role-playing you'd like.
Lai Tsuan |
Tsuan gives him the crown and lets him know he's the King of Augustana now.
Also, there are two beggars who need medical attention, and possibly some of us if we got whatever disease we were saving against in the sewer.
Seldiir Elberion |
After escorting the Prince to his new home, Seldiir administers what care he can to the beggars.
