Shagar Batul
|
Shagar helps where she can, but in the end decides to stand and fight, ready to react and not cower or hide. She nods to Seldiir. She is ready to go!
| GM Jhaeman |
As you make your preparations, the Almsman ushers the beggars to the rear of the sanctuary. He then strides out and stands bravely in front of the doors that lead into that chamber.
When the appointed time draws near, Bahram uses his bardic magic to create the illusion of a wall around one corner of the front room. The half-orc is joined with Seldiir and Onu. Meanwhile, Tsuan hides in the opposite corner while Shagar and Evelyn stand boldly in the center of the room.
I’ve placed “Bs” on squares where beggars are huddled up—treat these squares as difficult terrain (unless you have that rarely-used rogue trick to move quickly through crowds!
I’ve placed a yellow line around the illusory wall—I’m guessing this is where you wanted it to be, but please feel free to change it or anything else about the set-up I’ve misconstrued.
| GM Jhaeman |
Seconds later, you hear the sound of footsteps and voices approaching. A voice calls out in an amused tone: ”Almsman! What say you? Are you resisting or giving us what we want? I hope you’re resisting!” The front door of the sanctuary is pushed open roughly, and a group of Steel Wyverns armed with spiked chains start tromping up the steps. They stop, surprised, once they see the armed and ready Shagar and Evelyn standing in front of the Almsman. From the back, the same voice that called out before calls out again. ”Why’d you lot stop? Let’s break heads and get rich!”
They don’t seem to notice the illusory wall or that Tsuan is hiding around the corner.

Seldiir steps out of the wall and swings for the closest foe, ”Surrender or die!”
attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12
damage: 2d6 + 8 ⇒ (3, 1) + 8 = 12
Hoping for terrible flat-footed AC.

But the other Steel Wyverns react quickly to Seldiir's surprise appearance. They shout and attack!
Seldiir, one of the attacks hits and you take 3 points of damage.

You roll too well to be a Tsuan.
Onu the Furious
|
Sorry, holiday got in the way of my posting. I'm back now.
Onu steps up to purple and whacks him with his ectoplasmatic lash.
attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
damage: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 5) + 6 = 13
| GM Jhaeman |
Onu's phantasmagoric lash passes right through a Steel Wyvern with no apparent effect. The thug looks shocked, but keeps fighting.
The man who has been shouting starts moving up the stairs, and you can see him for the first time. He seems older than the others, wears better armor, and is holding a whip in one hand. Seeing you, he shouts at the Almsman: "Hired some mercs, eh? Something else we're going to take out of your hide once my boys dump these ringers in the flow!"
In game terms, the Steel Wyvern's leader has taken a 5' step and started Inspire Courage on his gang.
Bahram al-Urgug "Jack"
|
Bahram steps out of his illusionary wall, walks around Onu while sizing up the thugs, and swings down at the wyvern in front of him as he finishes his walk about.
great axe: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 121d12 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
"I believe you and yours are the ones that will be floating belly up."
Shagar Batul
|
Shagar moves forward, thankful that the group left her a place to stand, and swings at Purple with her Rapier.
Rapier: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

There's nothing wrong with the RNG itself - the GM's been rolling just fine!
| GM Jhaeman |
Although the Steel Wyverns are outnumbered, they know their way around a brawl and fend off the latest flurry of Pathfinder attacks. Whirling spiked chains with lethal force, they respond by trying to gang up on Seldiir! But the trained Sable Company Marine parries their chains with his greatsword!
Attack # 1 (w/ inspire): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
Attack # 2 (w/ inspire): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
Attack # 3 (w/ inspire): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Lai Tsuan

Tsuan goes bold and tries to tumble through Red's square!
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
rigged
She's gonna take an AoO for that, but she strikes at Blue!
Wakizashi, flanking: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Slashing, sneak: 1d6 + 1 + 1d6 ⇒ (6) + 1 + (5) = 12
Tsuan goes back to wakizashi school. Sorry, Evelyn, I tried.
Onu the Furious
|
Onu focuses and his ectoplsmatic lash whips out at the purple guy.
ectoplasmatic lash, two handed: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
damage, B: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 5) + 6 = 13
4, 1, 7, 2, 10, 3, 4, 2, 7, 6.
10 in a row. is that a record?
Lai Tsuan
|
Tsuan has not stolen anything from a Pharoah's tomb, but she did take a doppleganger's head as a trophy from her last mission. Maybe it was a cursed doppleganger head ...
Out of curiosity, I went and pulled up her attack rolls. She's averaging 6.4 so far, so her last 7 was actually above average!
Shagar Batul
|
Rapier: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Shagar swings again at Blue, this time hoping to connect.
Bahram al-Urgug "Jack"
|
Bahram is momentarily startled for a moment, then the archaeologist recognizes the signature whip move that took his axe. With a slight smile, bahram draws his short sword move action and with his archaeologist luck still going, he enacts am arcane strike Swift action
short sword: 1d20 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 + 2 = 211d6 + 2 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 2 + 2 + 1 = 8
"Thank you for the suggestion of switching to a smaller weapon in this confined space. Your are most helpful!". Bahram days with a wink.
if Shagar drops blue, bahram will 5' step and do all of this to the next in line.
Seldiir Elberion
|
Seldiir gives the bandits another cold look and repeats his statement, "Surrender."
He swings again at the black-cloaked human.
power attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17
damage: 2d6 + 10 ⇒ (1, 3) + 10 = 14
If that succeeds, he will 5ft step into black's space.

Tsuan runs around the Steel Wyverns, tumbling to avoid AoOs.
Avoid Red:
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
off to a great start
Avoid Leader:
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Naturally
Attack Leader, flanking:
Wakizashi: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
Damage, Sneak: 1d6 + 1 + 1d6 ⇒ (6) + 1 + (4) = 11
not totally useless!
| GM Jhaeman |
Tsuan artfully tumbles down the steps to cut off the Steel Wyverns' escape! She slashes at the gang's leader, but he ducks behind the corner just in time.
The good news is you beat the CMD of Red and the leader is wielding a whip and thus doesn't threaten squares, so there's no AoOs against you. The bad news is the leader gets cover from your attack (because you're attacking around a corner) and thus the attack misses.
Evelyn Kellbor
|
Evelyn moves and strikes, cursing just in case she might miss
attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16
dmg: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Her rapier flashes, and ..is there some blood on it? It might be!
