Ha, great gag

So... I need to have "the talk" with you.
I like having "romance elements" in my adventures.
And as you have probably imagined, there are several "leads" about it here and there so far.
The "evil" Zingari, for example.
Aldern Foxglove and Olga Bâlan too.
And now, Stella Scarnetti.
So I have to say I LOVED M'ara interaction with Lief!
Go for it, girl!
And I have to say. I don't want to spend much time in interactions that won't get to anything, or worse yet, that detracts from your playing experience.
So, if your characters are interested in pursuing some romantic interest, please let me know, and the "object of their affection". I don't say it will be easy, but I'll make sure it is possible.
On the other hand, if you don't want your characters losing time in romance when they could be killing Runelords, please let me know too.
PS. all of this because I was going to make Stella fall from Lief, and I am not sure if to out "competition" on M'ara or make her look elsewhere (Anton Chauvelle?).

Lief Stoutspear |

Both Stella and M’ara are going to have a tough time winning Lief’s affection... like any good Ulfen, he prefers a blond woman with some meat on her bones, like this girl. He’s not opposed to red heads though (and if this is the AP with Shayliss Vinder she could be a problem for him).

The Magician, Zomeraand |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Well, as far as romance goes, Zomeraand's personality can be triangulated somewhere in the area of Newt Scamander (from Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them), Dr. Doppler (from Treasure Planet), and K2-SO (from Rogue One).
If there's a lady out there interested in that, we'll see how it goes!

Don't forget Carmen Zingari!
For what you say, Etna Venus Van Ash is closer to his "type".

Ha- I’m not sure Lief is man enough for that much woman...

I was fearing that. Let me know if Zomeraand gets interested in the future. Meanwhile, it's going to be only long nights playing stumps with Lucky Pete then.
About the Color Spray... Well, s*** happens :D

I missed it by a single point. Hopefully she finds something useful at least.

All for the romantic possibilities...as long as it's an organic part of the story and not forced.... we'll see what happens...:-)

Delin Chiri |

If this ringleader doesn't want to cooperate I'm sure Delin could cut him loose.
...what skill would it be to guess how far is an adequate fall to incapacitate but not kill? Heal? That would be ironic.
General intelligence?

Delin Chiri |

Yes. The plan was to have her decide a fitting punishment in lieu of seeking out lawful authorities or stringing him up on the spot. We Varisians can police ourselves better. At least in Delin's limited experience.

JohnnyBlack |

Ok, let's do this together. I was planning on having the Bâlans, and the caravan master too, let the Szcarni do their stuff, at least while they keep their "shenanigans" limited to the "chelaxians".
As I see it, the "chelaxians" (which is a vague term, encompassing all non-varisian non-shoanti people) are seen with distrust and some anger by the varisian (remember, they are heavily discriminated against by the "chelaxians"). And in the case of many shoanti, even with hostility.
So my idea was to have the Bâlans have a policy of "live and let live" with the Szcarni. They don't interfere with the Szcarni, the Szcarni don't mess with them.
Imagine the Mob in a mobster movie. Is the respected grandmother going to mess with the wiseguys?
Maybe so... but how?
I am open to suggestions. This is our game.
What do you want Esmeralda to do? Is she really going to face the Szcarni on behalf of some rich "chelaxians"?

Lief Stoutspear |

Titus Scarnetti has ties with the sczarni in Sandpoint... so if Stella is his daughter or niece they may be endangering someone they really shouldn’t...

Delin Chiri |

Well, the way Delin sees it this kind of act can't go unpunished. Someone could have been killed. She also doesn't want to haul him in to the "law" because that could be a death sentence for him as well. She is bringing him to Esmeralda hoping she has some alternative the rogue could agree to.
Which I would be happy to rp. :)
As to messing with a wiseguy, Delin gives so many f@&&s they could be lined up to make a circle. A big zero even. She gives zero f*!@s when it comes to doing the "right" thing. Mr. Pesci has no power here.

JohnnyBlack |

Which I would be happy to RP.
Ok, let's RP that, after we see who lives and who dies in the wagon.
Just remember, you don't really have solid evidence he caused the "accident" (even if it is obvious he was in the known). But he will allegate he didn't do it (which he really didn't do "in-person").It sounds like a good RP opportunity.
Just a note: My plan with the Szcarni (in particular the Zingaris) the is not for them to be your antagonists, but a very close and dear "frenemy".
You will have antagonists enough without them ;)

You get a cure light wounds, and you get a cure light wounds... You get a cure light wounds!
Witches are surprisingly effective healers.

Delin Chiri |

So thanks to her healing hex she can use a cure light on everyone once a day. (If I am reading it correctly.) She will use that and make heal checks on the injured as well. Can't exactly pull off a serious wounds check, but she can provide long term care for the elderly woman and make a general check for the comfort of the others.

Just a note since two players have made this error. Delin saw what they were doing with the ropes on her perception check. While you were tussling with the wagon. Please keep meta knowledge out of IC posts.

JohnnyBlack |

Right. And they were going down the gorge "to help" the people that would fall down. And they did help them. And they rummaged the wagon wreck too. It is easy to imagine they knew about the incident and were going to steal the "ritches" of the wagon. But the "riches" turn down to be only a scared girl.
But all of that is "circumstantial" evidence. None of the characters saw the actual culprit (in the cliff on the other side of the gorge). And from where Ruperto and his people were, they couldn't have scared Stella's wagon horses (the Bâlan wagons where on the way).
Have to say, for the record, that is the way the Szcarni operates. In the grey area, taking opportunities. Wiseguys, small mob-style.
They are not evil masterminds, psychopathic killers or baby-eaters.

I’m sorry- I did miss that seeing the ropes required a perception check... I can roll if you want but it’s too late to go back and edit.
The thing is, Lief is a worshipper of Erastil, a god of community, and he sees himself as a protector and fosterer of common people and communities; criminals prey on those people and communities, and these ones in particular preyed on people he was directly responsible for. The argument that “you can’t prove that we’ve technically broken the law” is not going to be any where near good enough for him.
I don’t want to sideline the game either though... you’re still at seven players, why don’t I just get Stella up on the horse with me and ride for Sandpoint? You guys can continue without me and, when you get to the first major event in the city, if it seems like you need a little more melee ability maybe I’ll hop back in?

JohnnyBlack |

They're local gangs. Murder brings too much heat, even if they're all evil. Anton is prejudiced, though.
And it is understandable.

No problem. Let's say Delin and the Bâlans let you all know.

By yourselves? All by yourselves? The Ulfen/Varisian big masculine warrior riding alone with young virginal Stella Scarnetti? Unescorted?
Are you sure you want to try that?

Well, ideally he’d prefer Aldern and Anton came with them, but (in character) hurrying to Sandpoint, and Stella’s family, definitely seems like the best option... the thing is, I didn’t actually expect you to play that out... I figured leaving would mean disappearing from the game (at least for now, and then maybe if you needed help when things went down in Sandpoint I might be able to jump back in).

JohnnyBlack |

Never split the party!
So, the idea is to put Aldern Foxglove next to Stella Scarneti in a run for their lives?
Risky...
In fact, Aldern will be making his move shortly! :D
And no, the idea is to keep you all together. There are more adventures ready for you on the third day of this trip!
And combat!
