Backstory:
Born to a jeweler's family in the Coins district of Absalom, Anton spent the time his father wasn't trying to teach him jeweling on the streets, exploring bazaars and shops and generally getting into trouble with other boys. By the age of 12, Anton was the leader of a gang, Cayden's Carouser's, that specialized in protecting children from bullies, and for a small fee, merchant's stalls from thieves. Their profits were almost exclusively spent in worship at the local temple, the Lucky Pint. As he grew older, though, his parents tried more forceful measures to bring their wayward son around to respectable life, even going so far as to lock him in the workshop with his father. On his 18th birthday, Anton told his parents that he could no longer tolerate the cage his home had become, and was leaving to seek his fortune in the world.

Before actually leaving the City at the Center of the World, however, he stopped by the Lucky Pint to seek the Lucky Drunk's favor on his quest. The cleric called a collection for the new adventurer, raising enough funds for Anton to buy a light sword and armor. He also stayed to hear the tales of a Pathfinder, recently returned from the wild frontier land of Varisia. Inspired by tales of goblins, wolves, dragons, and other monsters, Anton decided to make his way there. He signed on with a ship as a guard and deck hand, and spend the next two months practicing with his blade and singing along with the rest of the crew.

After arriving in Magnimar, Anton worked odd jobs in Lowcleft for over a year, until word came of the new cathedral opening in Sandpoint, and the celebration to dedicate it. Not wanting to miss such an occasion, which would be sure to have copious amounts of good ale and beer, Anton joined a caravan heading to the small town as a guard.

Personality:
An excitable young man, Anton is quick to make friends and enemies alike. He likes telling stories almost as much as he likes a good pint, and an excuse to practice with his rapier about as much as either. Definitely an extrovert, Anton prefers to take situations head on, having learned from childhood that those who don't act first often don't get to.

Appearance:
Anton has an angular face, framed by shoulder-length locks of hair the color of ripe wheat and anchored by large brown eyes. He has a strong but very lean build, with a ropy scar extending from the back of his hand halfway up his forearm. His current attire is a light travelling outfit, with an off-white quilted shirt (with vest), green breeches, and dark brown leather boots. When wearing his travelling pack, Anton has his bow and quiver fastened on the right side, and his bedroll inside, with it sticking slightly out of the top of the pack. At his left hip is his weapon, its basket hilt scuffed from frequent use.

Character Concept
Grognak the Barbarian, The Strongest Human!
STR: 17
DEX: 11
CON:14
INT: 8
WIS: 9
CHA: 11

Personality
Grognak is loud and gregarious. Always ready for a fight or other contest of strength (or another round of ale, for that matter), he also tends to make fast friends with most he meets, though he is put off by an excess of "wizard-talk". He smashes things when excited, smashes things when angry, and when sad or confused, smashes things in order to get excited instead. Not good with money (keeping it, specifically), he prefers to give service for the food, alcohol, and shelter he wants. Unlike some other barbarians and sell-swords, he enjoys all types of spirits, from elven wine to eastern brandy to dwarven ale. Other interests include sharpening his axe (a gift from his father), arm wrestling, and drinking others under the table.

Background
Grognak hails from the Storbjorn, a tribe in the far north. Growing up, he was the strongest boy of his generation, earning his place as a man of the tribe by slaying a grizzly bear in single combat when he was 14. Unfortunately, he was also willing to take on almost any challenge of his strength, including wrestling the chief's dog. After being reprimanded in front of the whole tribe for breaking the dog's leg, Grognak was given a chance to redeem himself: by going on a spirit quest to find the true meaning of strength. Blessed by the shaman (who had told the chief the idea as a way to get rid of him for good), Grognak headed southward.

That winter, Grognak was travelling through Granite Pass when a blizzard forced him to take shelter in a crude cabin on the side of the trail. He found a travelling wizard also sheltering there, who was less than pleased to have the young barbarian as a companion, especially after the near-constant snow forced them to stay in the large hut the entire winter. With little to do but sit and talk, though, Grognak and the wizard, whose name was too long for the barbarian to remember, eventually talked about Grognak's quest. He doesn't remember much of what the wizard said, but he does remember making a life-changing realization: weak people do have a purpose in life. Making beer and ale!

Now Grognak travels civilized lands as a sell-sword, fighting bandits and monsters, and acting as a de-facto protector of brewers and inn-keepers everywhere.
