I have Patterson driving Green with Wilson on the x-gen. And Darin in purple with Filament or Second on the sniper rifle. Also for Mauver checks your Vehicle is considered level 1. So "Keeping Pace" would only be a DC 11 piloting check. Your "Speed Up" would be DC 18
Shortly after you land and start your journey a large 40-foot long sand worm roars behind you and begins to slither towards the quick moving food (aka you). You have to race to the safety of the canyon or otherwise fight off the giant worm
At this point The pilots can make their Pilot Actions
The Worm attempts to speed up to follow you:
Worm Piloting: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (8) + 17 = 25 DC 26
But is unable to get the extra burst of speed.

![]() |

That is..........Larger than expected. Darin struggles for words as the sand worm appears. As it struggles in the terrain, the android attempts to gun it.
Piloting to speed up: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12
But the unfamiliar sands slow him down.

![]() |

Fire x-gen gun: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
Not sure of the piloting modifier on this weapon, but assume that will miss

![]() |

Patterson finds a convenient stretch of rock and guns the engine, speeding ahead. Feck. Don't want to get too far ahead, or that thing will eat the other car.
DC 18 Piloting check to speed up: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (18) + 10 = 28

![]() |

Only one mount per vehicle.
So moving forward. Only Patteson is able to gun it and get a bit of a lead. Everyone else just keeps pace.
However there are Hazards to deal with.
Darin as some rough ground to avoid, and Patterson has some large swarm of ants.
You can opt to do the Evade action and advance as normal, or try something else and just have the vehicle take 5d8 damage
Also you can use the vehicles Auto pilot of +13 instead of your own. I took that in to consideration for Darin, but it was only enough to go one zone.

![]() |

Yeah, the vehicle’s piloting is way better than I think anyone at this tier could be, so will use that.
Realizing it’s beat to trust the ATV’s engineers rather than try and translate his spacefaring skills to the ground, Darin programs the controls to attempt to avoid spinning out while still gaining speed.
Trying the double Maneuver option to evade and Accelerate

Patterson finds his vehicle in the salt flats
Where Darin has a choice to make. Jump the rocks (DC 21) or normal Speed Up/Keep pace at -4

With the worm hot on their proverbial tail, Darin tries to catch up with Spanner's vehicle
Not going to try and jump the rocks, but will try to speed up even losing a bit of contorl dodging the gap

Everyone that isn't driving can take two shots at the creature. For the last round and this one. There isn't really any bonus or penalty if you keep pace or go full speed.

EVACUATION MISSION 4: LAVA RIVER RESCUE
Zigvigix gestures to a number of chairs in front of them and speaks. “Excellent, your timing is perfect. We’ve analyzed the data collected from the derelicts around the ice giant Bastiar-7. We’ve found out that a group of ships was able to escape the area and headed to Bastiar-2. Only a few hours ago, we started receiving emergency signals from there, so that’s where I’m sending you! Please try not to die; I really like spending time with you! Our sensors detected a lot of seismic activity on the planet, so you might experience earthquakes or volcanic eruptions while you’re there. Take some pictures for me!”
The appearance of the Tear within the system has destabilized the planet’s volcanoes. Rivers of lava flow all over the planet’s surface, but after some searching, you find a geologically stable spot to land their ship. The landing site is only a few hundred feet from the source of the emergency signal. The entirety of the planet has low gravity
Low-gravity worlds are liberating to most species acclimated to standard-gravity worlds. Such characters’ muscles are far more effective than normal. On a low-gravity world, where the gravity is no greater than a third of standard gravity, PCs can jump three times as high and as far and lift three times as much. (Movement speed, however, stays the same, as moving in great bounds is awkward and difficult to control.) Thrown weapons have their range categories tripled.

![]() |

Wilson activates his environmental seals. "Well, off to the emergency beacon, then?"

You land on the planet make you way to the signal's location. Finding the source, across a series of lava flows. You make out six Starfinderds being besieged by an Earth Elemental.
