Master Filament prepares for the attack as Brook's spear flies towards the bobbing drone and then returns.
Wilson determines that these are some type of Skrimish Bot. They have typical construct immunities (no non-leathal) but no other defenses or weaknesses.
Both Darin and Patterson's shots strike a flying drone.
The Red drone continues its assualt on to Darin

RECON MISSION 4: THE THIRD KIND
Zigvigix, leader of the Exo-Guardians, gestures at a screen behind them. On the screen, several derelict ships can be seen drifting amid the ring system of an ice giant planet. “Look, look at that! So many ships. They all look pretty badly banged up, so we don’t expect to find any survivors here, but there must be a reason why they’re there. If you can find any intact data modules, we may be able to uncover what happened. Something destroyed those ships and we don’t know what it was, so choose a functional ship for yourselves that you think can handle any trouble you may find.”
Please select either the Drake or Pegasus Class ship.
Taking your ship you head towards the coordinates. A collection of starship remains scatter the belt area. You take some time navigating the wreckage to see what information you can find.
The Pilot will need to make three Piloting checks to maneuver through the debris and the deal with the nearby gravity well. Others can make Engineering checks to examine the destroyed ships

A look of relief overcomes Master Filament, followed by one of grim determination. "We must inform the fleet and get to Callion-1."
When a mission is available within the Callion system, the ysoki volunteers his team immediately.

That was all we were hoping to discover. Darin says as the android stares angrily at this being/avatar. Your constructs could have avoided destruction had you simply spoken plainly.
---
Later, aboard the Pegasus Darin sits in front of a series of computers frowning again. But this time its after the readings instead of his own damaged bio-circuitry. Zigvigix was possibly understating the damage. Unlikely so many Starfinders would have drifted unawares into a standard ice belt.
Are all the red objects broken starships?
He begins trying to pick up better readings of the debris, seeing if there are any modules or systems still clinging to life.

Patterson boards the vessel and immediately makes his way to the helm console. He runs through the flight pre-checks, then walks around the ship and looks over the control surfaces with an expert eye. The checks done, he nods to the ground crew. "Nice job, mates. We'll try to bring her back in one piece, hey?"
Back at the helm and once the rest of the party is set, he expertly steers the ship out of the hangar bay and sets a course for the derelict ships.

Patterson navigates between the ice, debris, and the gravity well with out any incident. Scans of the ships reveal that the ships were destroyed by weapons damage. But closer examination shows that they weapons used seem be from another Pact Worlds ship, most likely another Starfinder.
While going over the data the comms crackle. "This is Captain Mathius of the ship Empyrean Eye. Who are you and what is your mission here?" The video shows a human woman in jumpsuit with a starfinder insignia
You are not sure but it seems the source ship just "appeared."
How do you respond
| Overseer Tyranius |
First Seeker Luwazi Elsebo pings each of your comm devices. ” Starfinders have recovered a signal beacon from a steamy swamp on Agillae-2. Our analysis of the data indicates there is a large group of survivors on another planet in the same system, and we will soon be ready to commence the evacuation mission.”
GM's Planet of the Dinosaurs is now closed and The Last Outpost Evacuation mission is open.
Master Filament
|
Can we tell whether or not the damaged ships are Starfinder vessels?
"Does anyone know about this, Captain Mathius?" Master Filament inquires over the comm from his position at a targeting station. "From the appearance of these damaged and derelict vessels, it appears that this woman intends to use force and, more importantly, is quite capable of doing so."
Master Filament has no Culture skill.

Darin turns to the captain: Brookwillow.
Sudden appearance indicates advanced cloaking technology, and from damage on other vessels this may be source of the destruction. However, uncertain what other organization claiming to be would be better. Perhaps best to risk stating truth: we are Starfinders part of a widespread recovery mission?
He pauses then adds: Ask if they have wounded aboard. An offer of assistance may provide useful 'icebreaker'
Brookwillow of Parkerdale
|
Brookwillow takes the captain's chair, takes deep breath, nods at the rest of his fellow Starfinders, and says "Open comms"
He addresses this Captain Mathius. "I am Brookwillow of Parkerdale, and I, along with the rest of my crew, are Starfinders on a rescue mission. Do you require assistance? We are happy to help. Please respond."
Brookwillow signals for outgoing transmissions to be cut. "They could be fellow Starfinders. I'm concerned they may be under the same delusions as some of the others we have encountered."

Your quick study of the databanks discovers that Captain Mathius and her crew were part of the first scoured stars exploration and her the Empyrean Eye was listed as destroyed.
Captain Mathius seems still skepical of your response but continues with her interrogation. "You say that you are starfinders our sensors indicate you’re phased out of the Material Plane. What is this technology?" This will need another social check
You realize that their ship is not cloaked. It is phasing in an out from the Material Plane. It seems to be to and from the Ethereal plane.
She quickly follows up with: "Are you hear to kill us like the others?" This will need another social check
It seems like she is even wary of other "Starfinders" now extremely paranoid

Jadnura, yes... Darin thinks to himself.
To Brookwillow he advises: Jadnura was the First Seeker for the initial Scoured Stars mission. Their likely point of authority. May be best not to mention Luwazi’s promotion - if ‘ghost ship’ confrontation with change to status quo could prove triggering. Perhaps best to direct a general regroup to Bastia 6 Or wherever the Starfinder Capital ships are orbiting, something Is probably know IC if not in person for extraction?
Darin has a +4 Bluff if we think that might be the better tack here.

Brook makes sure outgoing comms are off and addresses his crewmates:
"I agree that we should have Captain Mathius rendezvous with the rest of the fleet, and those with higher authority can help him see he needs to be rescued. Anyone else have some insight or suggestions?"
GM--do we have some clear coordinates to instruct Mathius to proceed to in order to meet the rest of the fleet? Could we radio ahead to make sure he is welcomed appropriately? (assuming this works).
Patterson LXII

"That sounds like a fine plan. Maybe tell Captain Mathis that we're reinforcements, working under Luwazi Elsebo, and then give her the rendezvous coordinates."

There are significant anomalies around these systems. Darin opens the channel to explain to Mathius. Mostly gravitational, but their may be planar turbulence as well.
If you rendezvous by Bastiar 6, I am sure there are technicians who can check on your vessel’s condition. Darin pauses, then adds I am sure Jadnura is looking forward to your report.
Bluff: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Well that’s not great

First Seeker Luwazi Elsebo pings each of your comm devices. ”We sent our scouts to investigate derelicts in the ice rings of Bastiar-7. Those agents discovered that a few Starfinder ships escaped the fate of our other ships in the area. We are now determining the current locations of these ships so we can start a mission to evacuate the survivors.”
@Table-GM's Third Kind Mission is now closed and Lava River Rescue is now available
| Overseer Tyranius |
A loud shriek of audio feedback erupts from all communication devices across the Starfinder Society fleet and deployed teams. The feedback precedes an alert of a new threat: dozens of unknown starships are entering the Scoured Stars through the Drift!
Data screens across the fleet begin displaying a live feed of a chitinous, six-legged creature with a large mouth full of sharp teeth. Rings of glowing, unblinking eyes cover the upper and lower sides of the creature’s body, looking in every direction at once. The creature’s three-clawed forelimbs hold what looks like an alien plasma cannon, while its second set of limbs terminate in cybernetic augmentations resembling long sabers.
When the creature starts speaking, its words sound like a chaotic jumble of consonants, but soon the syllables turn into a sinister-sounding, digitalized voice speaking in the Common tongue: “We are jinsuls, and you are not welcome in our space. This is our ancestral home. You do not belong here. You will be removed.”
As soon as the ominous message ends, First Seeker Luwazi Elsebo speaks to the Society through the comm system: “According to our sensors, these creatures—jinsuls—are entering the Scoured Stars through a location near Bastiar-7. I need a group of volunteers, our best starship crews, to scout the area and keep these aggressors occupied. Meanwhile, I want everyone else to continue evacuating the survivors. Time is a luxury we don’t have, so make haste and be ready to be extracted at a moment’s notice!”
Table GM’s- You are now set to start Part 3, All Part 1 Missions are now closed. If you are in a Recon Mission them please R-TEP out and go right into another mission. All Part 2 and Part 3 missions are now open.

As you communicate the ghost ship fades away again. You spend a few moments trying to reconnect but they are gone. You head back to the fleet to prepare to follow up on your other found information:
EVACUATION MISSION 5: SANDS OF OBLIVION
Radaszam, leader of the Acquisitives faction, briefs the PCs for this mission. “Recon teams who visited an ancient city gained information on Starfinders who may be stuck on the desert planet Callion-1. We sent a ship closer to the planet to scan it and turns out, the intel was good; there are Starfinders down there. It’s a tidally locked world where one side is a frigid tundra and the other a blazing hot wasteland. If that doesn’t sound bad enough, our weather scans show there’s a gigantic magnetic storm raging in the part of the planet where our friends are. Flying vehicles won’t be safe to fly anywhere near the storm, which is why you’ll be using two all-terrain vehicles to reach them!”
Before they leave, you can customize their two all-terrain transport vehicles. You have to take both vehicles. Each has two turrets in addition to the standard features, and the PCs can have the following types of weapons (supplied by the fleet’s armory) to be installed in the turrets (one per turret): advanced shirreneye rifle (2d10 P), advanced X-gen gun (2d12 P), or tactical magnetar rifle (2d8 P). When mounted, a weapon is more stable to shoot, and the penalties for shooting while the vehicle is moving at a normal or full speed are reduced by 6 in Subtier 1–2
