Faerin nicks a guard, but Pyros and Teryll both miss Kalannah.
Guard 3 fort sv: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
guard 1 ref sv: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12
guard 2 ref sv: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

guard 3: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
acolyte: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Guard 1 manages to break free and moves forward.
Harrim is up.
Signy Birkirsdottir |
The archer is still up? If so Signy targets him. If not she'll switch to the closest unentangled guard.
Signy sticks with her bow for at least one more shot.
Attack: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 5 + 2 = 14
Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 8
Galahad0430 |
Kalannah begins casting another spell.
Signy just misses the archer and he decides to fire back at her.
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
Both of his shots go wide.
Jaethal keeps shooting at the entangled guard that is already wounded.
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
Her shot is deflected by his shield.
OK, everyone except Signy and Harrim can go.
Faerin Cordova |
Stepping up to the edge of the magically enhanced foliage, Faerin targets the guard on the left, throwing another javelin.
Thorn Javelin: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16
Piercing: 1d6 ⇒ 4
DC 14 Fortitude save or be sickened for 1 round. Spell expended.
Signy Birkirsdottir |
<Shrug> My thinking was to deal with the ones who could fight back first. That way we cut down on the chance of getting mobbed. New ones are making the save and getting loose each round. If we're shooting at the ones who aren't loose, the ones who are get to us and keep us busy until the others are loose as well.
I dunno, honestly it doesn't seem like people are making decisions based on previous posts about what's currently happening.
Pyros Aldori |
Giving up on hitting the spellcaster, Pyros aims for the nearest guard.

Nice to know that in these uncertain times, my dice rolls are staying consistent.
Galahad0430 |
Sorry for the delay, work interceded. Also, btw, I missed that Teryll's earlier shot was before Kalannah cast shield, so his 23 was within 5 of her AC and therefore one of her images was destroyed.
Guards:
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Guard 2 breaks free and moves forward.
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16
And he avoids becoming entangled again.
1d20 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
The acolyte remains entangled.
Harrim, you're up.
Galahad0430 |
Ok, I don't want to spend weeks on one fight, so I will bot anyone that doesn't keep up. I realize with the stupid virus, some people (including me) have spotty posting ability.
Harrim shoots at an entangled guard:
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
but misses.
1d3 ⇒ 2
2 wolves appear by Kalannah and move towards you.
Kalannah begins casting another spell.
Signy, you're up.
Faerin Cordova |
Staring down the remaining enemies, Faerin begins another druidic chant tracing archaic sigils in the air as flames burst into her hands, not harming her in the least.

You eventually defeat the Technic League slavers. With all of her henchmen gone, Kalannah surrenders.
She drops her weapons and falls to her kness.
"Mercy! Don't kill me!"
You see a couple approaching from the tents. At first you tense, but they are unarmed and wear slave collars, though they are dressed quite well. One is a male half-orc, the other a pretty and slight half-elf woman with fiery red hair.
The half-orc bares his fangs and growls.
"That's how you speak now, wretch! I have waited so long for this..." with that he whispers some strange words and his right hand is suddenly sheathed in crackling electricity. He begins to step towards the cowed Kalannah.
The half-elf puts her hand on his shoulder.
Regongar, come now, let her go. It is one thing to kill her in battle, but to kill her unarmed...why spoil the joy of being free?"
Regongar responds, "Octavia, are you out of your mind! This filth is from the Technic League! By her own hand she enchained us! And you want to forgive her? Do you think she will thank us for that? She will just go back and raise another band to come after us again!"
Faerin Cordova |
Faerin studies Kalannah coldly, her opinion of the woman plain as day. Taking in the pair freed from the tents, she makes eye contact with each of them for a moment before turning to the others. "The question here is a matter of which is better, to end her here, or make her a message that slavery will not be tolerated in these lands."
Pyros Aldori |
"The River Freedoms state that Slavery is an abomination. In most parts of this land, her life would be forfeit for her crimes." Pyros says, to no one in particular. His sword is as yet unsheathed, but he holds it limply, tip pointed at the ground.
Galahad0430 |
Seeing the direction things are going, Kalannah quickly speaks up.
"Listen to me. Do not make any hasty decisions. I am an important person in the Technic League. I have connections! You would benefit from such an ally!"
Regongar immediately counters, "You see now what a shifty pice of filth she is! Step aside, let me fry her!"
Linzi of the Velvet Voice |

...and back at Oleg's Trading Post.
Sitting in a chair, perpendicular to it's intent, is Linzi. Her short stubby legs dangling off one chair arm, and her back propped against the other. In her lap is a flat board with parchment. On top of the chair's normal "backing" is a pot of ink.
To her left is a bowl of snozzleberries found in a brush relatively close to Olegs! She pops one of these tart little treats in her mouth periodically.
The feathered pen in hand, she puts her musical thoughts to papyrus.
There was a young man named Teryll
Who was had in a wood by a squirrel,
And he liked it so good
That he stayed in the wood…
With a look of disgust, she sticks her tongue out.
This is terrible writing. How can The Velvet Voice have writers block *this* bad?!
She crumples up the paper, tosses it over the chairback discarded from mind, soul, and song.
She reaches over and picks up her guitar looking samisen. Puts it on her lap, juggling the flatboard, a clean sheet of papyrus and starts again. Strumming a few A, C and G cords to get a syncopated rhythm.
There once was a young lady named Faerin.
Who left all the Taldan nobles a’ starin’.
Her breasts in white satin…..
Faerin Cordova |
Sparing a glance at the others, Faerin lets out a tensely held breath. Looking down at Kalannah's body, she gives the woman's corpse a nod, acknowledging her death before turning to the elated former captives.
"That you are, slavers find no welcome here. Let us see if we can get those collars off of you. I am Faerin." she says to the couple with a nod and a slight smile.
Harrim dwarf |
"Good ridens.."
Harrim jerks and quickly turns his head back and forth. He waves his hand.
Darn buzzing again in my ears
"Damm flies..."
There doesn't appear to be any insects around.
Galahad0430 |
After calming down, the two of them introduce themselves. The half orc is Regongar and the half elf is Octavia. They both are trained in the arcane arts (Regongar is a Magus and Octavia a Transmuter Wizard) and were obviously valued slaves. There are several other slaves bound in the camp, all appear to be mundane chattel slaves.
Galahad0430 |
Also, for memory's sake, you have been gone from Oleg's for two days. You still have the bandit prisoners to attend to back at Oleg's. You also gained the information about the hut the Stag Lord wanted burned down. Also, Jhod, the cleric of Erastil you freed from the bandit camp at the Thorn River ford is at Oleg's.

The man is batter, bloody and broken as he lies unconscious, face down in the dirt just outside of Oleg's Trading Post. His matted brown hair is short cropped along with a small tuft of a beard. A glowing longbow lies clenched tightly in his hands as a cold iron longsword is strapped to his hip. His breastplate armor contains numerous scratches and puncture marks from large claws as fresh blood oozes from the jagged holes.
He mumbles almost incoherently. "Fire didn't hurt...them."
Linzi of the Velvet Voice |
Standing atop the walkway didn't give her enough height to see over the 10’ high wooden palisades. So along the way Linzi placed four different vegetable boxes upside down to use as a boost up. Most people would only need one box as a step stool to see over the wall, but this little halfling is a nervous nelly. She couldn't keep still, so she made this set-up to allow her to pace up and down- stopping at each box and popping up see if her new friends survived the wild forest.
Linzi finds herself in an odd-ball place, and she’s thrilled about it. How else are epic stories written/sung/whispered? She still has to work out the finer points and flowery language, but “It started at a Trading Post on the very edge of a strange, wild, and pulsating forest. Oleg – The proprietor…..
The bard smiles as she knows she’ll have to work doubly hard. Putting the story to paper, but also working out rhythm and rhymes to be sung and audiences to clapped to.
She’s also not certain she’ll keep Oleg in the beginning. He’s was annoyed with her, and because of that she is still annoyed with him. Oleg had kicked her out of much taller watchtowers. He blamed her for the ants, mice raccoon and…… possum that invaded the area where the broken down catapult rests.
Linzi recalls the conversation, He said something along the lines of, “ You left all these food scraps and discards – and it attracted the wildlife!” To which she (successfully) defended herself that, “it was totally an accident and the only time she’s *EVER* not cleaned up after herself after second-breakfast, lunch, linner and dinner.”. Oleg did like the Raccoon pelt acquired, and that calmed him down nicely. That possum was another thing entirely….. viscous little bugger.
She returns to her pacing. Excitedly waiting to see that half elf with the wispy brown hair, Teryll. Her best decision so far was choosing him to wake up during the Castle assault. That certainly saved her life and many others. She marvels as how capable he is.
Linzi unconsciously bites her lip over her concern about her best bestie Signy. The first time since college that she found a fellow girl she bonded with so well.
She hopes they survive and can tell Pyros that she took his advise and thought long and hard about an appropriate performer name. She liked what she came up with, she’s can’t wait to unveil to the others

Linzi of The Velvet Voice!
Linzi of the Velvet Voice |
The man is batter, bloody and broken as he lies unconscious
At some point in time between Linzi stepping upon on vegetable box and the other, this poor battered man stumbles out of the nearby forest. It is only as he's just collapsing that she steps atop the box and can see over the pallisades wall.
GASP
Oh! Oh! A man needs help! Lots of help indeed!
She shouts out the warning and scrambles down - making certain to grab her samisen.
She pumps her little legs as fast as they will go - making her way to the man.
Oh, you need help. Let us help you!! Please share with me your tale of verve and nerve.
Looking to people coming this way, Anyone have any healing? Or know how to heal? Oleg -I'll pay you Thorsday for a healing potion today!
Faerin Cordova |
Taking the time to strip Kalannah's body of anything useful, Faerin spend some time using her magic to conjure fresh clean water for all the former captives.
" We should probably get all these people back to the safety of Oleg's before we continue on with our mission." she says to her companions.
Galahad0430 |
Hearing Linzi's shouts, Oleg and Svetlana rush out and help drag the man into the compound. The three of you manage to get him upstairs and in bed. There they strip him of his armor and Svetlana winces at the damage.
"See if you can find Bokken, but don't wander too far." She says to Linzi. She then begins tending to the man's wounds.
Linzi of the Velvet Voice |
Yes! Bokken!
She sounds confident, but looks totally confused.
Bokken. Go find Bokken.
She pauses, looks left , but goes right. Talking to herself.
Blue Flower. Red Thorns.... no,No,NO.No. That's not right. Don't get distracted girl. Bokken. That's who I have to find.
She hunts for the potion maker.
Galahad0430 |
After looting the camp and freeing the remaining slaves, the party heads back to Oleg's. While most of the slaves are fairly silent, Regingar and Octavia are rather boisterous.
The next day you arrive at Oleg's unharmed and unmolested (probably because of the size of your group). When you arrive, Oleg seems relieved because he has had the bandit prisoners for almost three days now. In addition, you learn of the new arrival who is still sleeping from the day before.
Ekun can wake up now mostly recovered and everyone can tell each other whatever they need to. Ekun has some news about trolls. I will also give a loot list shortly.
Ekundayo 'Ekun' Vursi |
Ekun coughs up a little blood still as he groans from a few broken ribs. A bit of fear is in his eyes as he looks around for his bow. Seeing it beside the bed he relaxes a bit but remains on edge. Seeing the others come in he wipes his mouth. "Where am I? How did I get here?" Realizing that they mean him no harm he looks out the window for for a sign of the trees moving. "Have you seen any trolls nearby?"
