Through the gauzy fog that Heccan has created, all can see that the Triceratops appears even weaker-willed than before, while its mount does not seem bothered by it at all.

  • Tytus gulps down one of his extracts just before the hill giants spring into action.

Orange hurls two rocks at Caduceus...
    Thrown rock vs flatfooted: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
    dmg: 2d8 + 10 ⇒ (7, 3) + 10 = 20

    Thrown rock vs flatfooted: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12
    dmg: 2d8 + 10 ⇒ (8, 3) + 10 = 21
    ... but both miss badly.

Purple steps forward and bashes at Caduceus with his club...
    Greatclub, PA vs flat-footed: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (6) + 12 = 18
    dmg: 2d8 + 16 ⇒ (4, 1) + 16 = 21

    Greatclub, PA vs flat-footed: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13
    dmg: 2d8 + 16 ⇒ (4, 7) + 16 = 27
... but he too misses badly.

Cyan steps backwards 5' and swings with his club at Hector...
    Greatclub, PA: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (14) + 12 = 26
    dmg: 2d8 + 16 ⇒ (2, 7) + 16 = 25

    Greatclub, PA: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17
    dmg: 2d8 + 16 ⇒ (3, 8) + 16 = 27
... but he too is unable to even strike his foe. A ripple of uncertainty seems to pass through the hill giant army like a wave.

Yellow decides to hurl his rocks at Heccan, perhaps hoping to find a softer target.
    Thrown rock: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
    dmg: 2d8 + 10 ⇒ (1, 1) + 10 = 12

    Thrown rock: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
    dmg: 2d8 + 10 ⇒ (6, 8) + 10 = 24
... but although the sorcerer appears unarmored, he too is too difficult for the pathetic hill giant to hit.

Navy is moving very slowly, but he moves towards the statue, glaring up at the wizard giant malevolently.

Red begins to climb the statue...
    Climb: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18
    Climb: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21
... easily advancing halfway up to the wizard's position.

    Green also begins to climb...
    Climb: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17
    Climb: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27
... with just as much success.

Pink charges forward to attack Hector...
    Greatclub, charging: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (2) + 16 = 18
    dmg: 2d8 + 10 ⇒ (3, 5) + 10 = 18
... but it is not looking like a good day for battle in hill-giant land. Some of the hill giants begin to reconsider the life choices that have brought them to this situation.

Caduceus' life link does not trigger due to the party being entirely untouched.

The armored triceratops lumbers forward. Slowly. Very slowly.

The hill giant atop the triceratops hurls a single rock at...
    target: 1d4 ⇒ 4
    ... Hector.
    Thrown rock, into melee: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7

    Start of Round 2

Technically, Hector goes before the cloud giant but since he's (possibly?) your ally and to speed play I'll have him go first unless there's a good reason to do otherwise at some point

The cloud giant casts a spell at the two hill giants climbing towards him...

Tytus strikes Purple solidly, leaving the hapless giant wondering how he is being beaten out of thin air.

Hector makes two quick strikes against Cyan, both of which hit easily.

    Heccan is up!

    Dark Archive

    Male Human Sorcerer 10 | AC 24/T 14| FORT +6 REF +7 WILL +12 | Init +2 | Perception + 1 | Sense Motive +13

Heccan ducks as a large chunk of rock hurls past his head at a speed the likes of which he has never seen. "The hells! I suppose I should thank my infernal maker for my magical gifts, but I haven't the time!" Heccan's face scrunches in frustration. He looks to the rock that just nearly decapitated him then back to the hoard of giants descending upon him and his allies. He lets out a pointed curse and closes his eyes, a decision made he knows he will assuredly regret.

Sweating and clearly drained, Heccan fights through pain as he digs within himself to find the remnants of his innate arcane abilities. His hands balled then released, a yellow stream of smokey magical energy juts forth striking the area near the giant rider and her dull dinosaur mount. The energy dissipates into a fine persistent mist over her and a few of her giant cohorts.

Heccan will cast confusion which is noted with the yellow burst marker on the map.

    Confusion:

    School enchantment (compulsion) [mind-affecting]; Level bard 3, bloodrager 4, sorcerer/wizard 4, witch 4; Domain madness 4, trickery 4; Subdomain entropy 5, lust 4, whimsy 4

    CASTING

    Casting Time 1 standard action
    Components V, S, M/DF (three nutshells)

    EFFECT

    Range medium (100 ft. + 10 ft./level)
Targets all creatures in a 15-ft.-radius burst
    Duration 1 round/level
Saving Throw Will negates; Spell Resistance yes

    DESCRIPTION

This spell causes confusion in the targets, making them unable to determine their actions. Roll on the following table at the start of each subject’s turn each round to see what it does in that round.

    Table: Confusion Effects
    d% Behavior
    01-25 Acts normally
26-50 Does nothing but babble incoherently
51-75 Deals 1d8 points of damage + Str modifier to self with item in hand
76-100 Attacks nearest creature (for this purpose, a familiar counts as part of the subject’s self)
A confused character who can’t carry out the indicated action does nothing but babble incoherently. Attackers are not at any special advantage when attacking a confused character. Any confused character who is attacked automatically attacks its attackers on its next turn, as long as it is still confused when its turn comes. Note that a confused character will not make attacks of opportunity against any creature that it is not already devoted to attacking (either because of its most recent action or because it has just been attacked).
    [/confusion]

    Triceratops, Mind Fog: 1d20 - 5 ⇒ (3) - 5 = -2

Hector decide whether to Opportune Parry & Riposte before opening:

With Hero's Defiance, If I would take an attack that would take me to (or below) 0 hp, the spell goes off. the wording says 'the INSTANT before' so I am assuming the goal of the spell is to keep a paladin on his feet, and not on the ground, prone with no items in his hands.

Sorry if I miscalculated. I thought the yellow radius burst I placed on map was accurate. Please adjust to what you think proper. Heccan's intent was to catch the dino and its rider as long with as many giants as he could within the radius of the spell.

Heccan ducks as yet another rock nearly turns him into a bloody paste then yips audibly as a giant club smashing into the ground mere feet away. "Well, as fun as this is, I think I will retire from this oh so entertaining if not deadly game of catch."

Heccan waves his hands in practice gestures, walking backwards cautiously from the nearest giant, and then suddenly disappears.

Heccan takes a five foot step away from the giant then casts invisibility (standrd, second level variety) on himself.

Tytus, as far as I'm aware no one has cast Blessing of Fervor yet. Maybe you are mixing up with one of your other games? Also, can you clarify to me what is sickening the foes you attack and I presume you have to hit them, not just attack them?

Heccan showers two of the giants with glittery particles (ending your invisibility) - Beshtu seems able to shake the glittery particles out of her eyes, but Purple is not so fortunate and gapes blindly. Now that Heccan is visible, those giants that can still see glare malevolently at him.

I have another black tentacles, a wall of stone, a passwall, and some utility spells. I have enlarge persons but no good target as I can't see Tytus and Hector is dex based. I could throw up a wall of stone to isolate or protect our giant maybe-ally but I've been weirdly reluctant to mess up his house permanently, although that may be silly at this point. I can drop another black tentacles but 1 its unlikely to bother giants much and 2. it is very likely to mess with us quite a bit.

Might need that wall of stone for ourselves. Hec, Anen, Caduceus and Tytus pretty vulnerable right now.

Anen casts a wall of stone.

I'll halve the thickness to 1 inch to get me 20 five foot squares. I'll put them in the 10 squares indicated by the green line, going 10 feet high. Each five foot section will have 8 hardness and 15 hit points, DC 22 Strength check to break outright. Either they spend a round hitting it or they walk around (and through the black tentacles). Either way, hopefully it keeps them off of us for a bit and lets us focus fire.

Tired and drained, Heccan takes a cautious step away from the seemingly never ending wave of giants. He looks about the field of battle as his fellow agents fight valiantly to aid the cause but, more importantly, to defend each other. This is madness! I shouldn't be here, getting swatted about by these disgusting creatures. I should run, I should hide myself. I should... Heccan wipes a small dab of blood that seeps from his nose and his face grows determined. I should try to be of some help.

"Seems you giants won't quit. Well, neither do I."

Ugh. I added caster level images twice. Sorry, my bad. Please strike three of those.

    Silver Crusade

    Paladin 4 / Oracle 8 AC 27 {T:13/FF:27} HP 116/116 Init+0, Perception +2 | Fort +15, Reflex +9, Will +19 | Tracked Resources: Oracle Channel 7d6 (DC 20) 6/7 | Paladin Channel 3d6 (DC 16) 9/9 | LoH 4d6+2 {+1d6 or Mercy} 11/12 | Reroll 1/1

His reserves nearly at an end, the paladin's resolve is the only thing keeping him on his feet. The club crashes into the half-elf's shield, nearly snapping Caduceus' left arm. the next blow nearly collapses his rib cage. He begins to sway before healing energy flows into his wounds once again.

    Hero's Defiance: 4d6 + 2 + 1d6 + 15 ⇒ (3, 4, 4, 3) + 2 + (6) + 15 = 37

    Lay on Hands: 4d6 + 2 + 12 ⇒ (4, 2, 6, 4) + 2 + 12 = 30

Immediate action to cast Hero's Defiance. Will use Lay on Hands as a standard action. So, it looks like I started at -6 hp, healed 67 points, now at 63 hp. 1 LoH left. 3 Pally channels remain.

Alright, I will check through my spell-like options when I get home, but it looks like it will be a fireball then.

  • Caduceus calls upon the power of Iomedae to stave off death. For now. The immediate action interrupts what was happening, so Caduceus never fell prone, unconscious, or dropped his weapon.

Anen, fireball (or whatever) when ready. Be sure to note the presence of the stone wall, since it will limit where you can put the center of your spell.
