Hello people, I am finally about to come online. I've just spend all of the Holidays in the ICU and didn't see much of January. The only good thing about this is that I lost weight.

I'm getting better every day, but will never get back to full health. My pneumonia got mixed with Covid and did a number on my lungs. I now have a friend next to my bed called an O2 tank.

I only have my phone at the moment, and I try to get back to make post, but I have alot of post to read.

I had hopes that Orlog would be joining us again, but it looks like he will not be rejoining us. He is the Dm in my other game and that has gone into defunct status. Would we like to do a recruitment?

Just about anything or anyone would help.

PC position filled in the rulership are thus...

We've got a ranger (Brandt) as a General
A cavalier (Christian) as our Ruler
and a cleric (Bydar) as High Priest (Spiritual cruise director ;) )

We just lost our Treasurer and Magister, but I am pretty sure if one of the NPCs have a position you prefer (See the Charis Kingdom tracker) we can shuffle things around.. though I admit, I think we've all taken to having a Medusa Enforcer

As for class and party situations, Christian seems to be our main frontliner and he's also a good "face" thanks to high Charisma and a diplomacy skill that's pretty amazing.

Brandt is our best guide/tracker and a fierce switch hitter from bow to melee to back again...

Bydar is mostly a healer with some buffs, though he assists on some social rolls now and then.

My advice would be to play what you like... we're short an arcane type* or a trap finder but the former needn't be a pure arcane class if you enjoy multiclasses or the like, and so far the lack of the latter hasn't hurt us too badly ;)

* -I have another person I contacted who mentioned they might be interested in a blasting arcane type. As far as I'm concerned you signed up first so you get first dibs on what will bring you the most fun but that might take the pressure off you if you want to try a non blaster etc.

As for races, All Core and Featured Races allowed is the original restriction, but given our recent in game history you might be allowed a kobold or even a Lizardfolk (But check with our GM on that) should that be a dream of yours.

Welcome.
First and foremost, play what makes you happy. I have always pushed for players to play what they like and what they are comfortable with. We do have limited sneaky (thief) stuff and arcane if this helps at all.

I have no problem letting another take the arcane route, so am working on the sneaky thieving type who will be applying for the job of Treasurer (with amazing references which may or may not be forged).

I do have a few questions regarding my build and the parameters...

1. Standard cash for 7th level?
2. Are there any limits on how we spend it, i.e. no more than 50% on one item, etc.?
3. It looks like Elephant in the Room rules are in play, yes?
4. It looks like Background Skills are also being used, yes?
5. HPs. Based on the recruitment thread it seems that I take MAX HP for the first 4 levels then roll or take Half HP rounded up, whichever is better. Is that correct?

6. ... OK, this is going to sound like a weird question but, how combat 'effective' should I make my sorcerer? Should I build for serious lethality or step it down a bit? As a reference point, my sorc could be tossing a 10d6+20 DAM Fireball. Is that too far above the power curve of the campaign?

Summary: Elenora Brisbee has been an accountant/barrister/pirate, finding herself, through no fault of her own, on the wrong side of the law more times than not, so she is looking for employment that might lead to another outcome other than a noose.
She is a very human-looking Undine, on the shorter and plumper sides of the body chart, who can throw around hundreds of pounds of material with her odd little mind. If that wasn't enough, she has some of the sharpest eyes and ears of anyone you might meet, plus she has a pet monkey

(Undine female, Telekineticist, archetype psychokineticist using wisdom instead of constitution with one dipped into unchained rogue for trapfinding and lots of class skills with carnivalist archetype for a familiar, not sure where to put her alignment cause she has been more of a CN in her life, but to fit in she would be doing her best to act CG)

At this point a small cough interrupts her, and the high priest whispers something to his lord, which should be so low no one other than the attendee should be able to hear, but the pale-eyed young woman narrows those eyes on the cleric and corrects herself before being called out

I mean, of course, not the real Lord and Lady Canderlilly, which everyone knows perished nearly a half-century ago in the freezing sea. I meant I served the folks that were posing at the Lord and Lady. For taxes reasons. But accounting is accounting no matter which side of the pickets you rest on.

Her plump lip slips from her beaming smile to being worried between her teeth before she sighs “And the next letter that says IS from esteemed merchant vessel which I served as quartermaster on, and was truly such, but I DID serve on it after it had been claimed by Tessa Fairwind, who is a very notable pirtate. But I was still quartermaster, and you should be able to see that running a tight and accurate measure of supplies is even harder when the crew is full of scallywags and scoundrels.

Elenora frets a little, holding the attache case tight to her chest. She looks to the door behind her, from where she entered, still left cracked open. For a moment it looks like she means to flee, but then a small furry head, the size of a child’s fist, pokes through the crack and shrieks encouragingly.

To answer stormraven's questions...

1) Yes, standard cash for level 7
2) No restrictions on how you spend that starting cash
3) Yes, Elephant in the Room rules are in play
4) Yes, Background Skills are in play
5) For HP, you get the max HP for your first 4 levels, then you gain the average for the hit die for all subsequent levels.
6) When running games and building encounters I don't go too lethal or overly difficult, so you don't need to worry about maximizing your character's effectiveness.

7) No, taking a Kingmaker trait will not be required.

And as for our medusa enforcer, Sapphira is an NPC I first developed for a home game many years ago, and she has reappeared in a few other games I've run since. Basically, she has seen several of her sisters and cousins die from antagonizing adventurers, so she has concluded that it's better to cooperate with the adventurers. Her alignment is Lawful Evil because she's motivated by greed and self-preservation, but she recognizes that her best chance at accomplishing those goals is by working with you instead of against you.

I wasn't sure how the GM was planning to drop us in the game so I didn't put a biography together for her. If you are looking for a general idea of her background, I can certainly build that out.
